The CyclONE City Project is something the Ames Chamber of Commerce did with Iowa State University several years ago. “Cy” is the mascot for ISU. Businesses around town sponsored local artists who created these fun statues all around the town. This one is called Protect and Serve CY, and is stationed at City Hall. He is a police CY.
Originally, there were thirty of these guys but now that the initiative is over, there are twenty seven remaining. Mom found a list with all the addresses. Six are in buildings which means that leaves twenty one we could visit. Driving into town looking for the murals we featured on Tuesday we passed the CY House Rock, an Elvis kind of guy. Of course, we stopped and posed with him.
On the hunt we found Cy The Dentist Guy. I was smelling some bad breath and think the guy needs a dental cleaning, LOL!
Cytes of Ames, is at the Ames Tourist center.
Finally we found the vet, yikes! Yes, it is Dr. Cy at the ISU Veterinary Clinic. I must say he is the first vet that didn’t scare me to death. We found another one in town but could not find a parking spot. Our plan is to try to find more of these each time we pass by Ames. The CyClONE City Project is a fun idea and it’s a fun project to find them. Only fifteen to go!
Finally, Sunday Nelson had his first nose work trial of the year at the Madison County Fairgrounds. Mom and Nelson had a blast but the results were not such a blast. Almost everyone had really low scores. For some reason the hides, which didn’t seem difficult, turned out to be quite difficult. They earned more points and that is most important. Next weekend they will try again in Wisconsin and see how things go. At least the weather was perfect, and they had a great time.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.

What cool birds! You guys always fine the coolest stuffs!
We still have sixteen to find at some point. It is a fun idea the city had.
Cute statues. Guess you will have many more trips to Ames to find all of them.
We pass by now and then, so if weather is good, we can stop and find a few more.
we are sure the points and results will be a blast soon… we boys need a longer starting phase than the girls who are maybe smarter? we love CY specially the elvis Cy rocks!!!
Everyone says that for a boy Nelson is very advanced which he is. Still first time out and only recently turning three, he is pretty young for his level. The coming weeks will be better we think.
These are great!! We love them all! Hope you get to see more. Happy Friday! Your friend Chester
We still have quite a few that are outside to find. Not sure when we will go looking next but they are fun.
What fun and you sweet doggies pose so well ~ great photos ~ thanks, hugs,

Lots of in and out of the car but we don’t mind.
These pups dearly love to pose, don’t they? Fun post!
We have all been in front of the camera since we were young puppies. Mom has us posing right away. Now even if we hear her touch her camera we come running.
Cy is quite a versatile character. My favorites were Elvis and the dentist but my ultimate favorite were you two posing with him
Hugs Cecilia
Awww, thank you. They are fun to find and we hope to find more in the future.
When are you guys going to get your own sculptures.
LOL, that would be funny!
GOODNESS GRACIOUS!! These are fabulous! I’m glad you have so many CY’s protecting you in your travels
We hope to find more next time we go near Ames.
It’s all about having a good time, right??
What totally pawsome statues you all found. We especially like the Elvis dude!!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
He is our favorite from the five too. Hopefully we will be back there soon and can find some more of these guys.
What fun you plan into your trips. I could never get my travel companions to agree to stop and do fun stuff, they were all about the destination. Someday I want to travel and stop when I see something I like.
Mom always studies up on what we can see along the way. On the way home we don’t like to stop, then we are ready to be home, but on the way to our destination we love finding fun stuff. We have stopped on the way home if we are going a different route, though.
Those are such cool statues you found and you two look fabulous with them. I do like the Elvis one!
Thank you. They are fun to find.
