Are dogs thankful? Mom feels like we are. After doing some research, we determined that we dogs are indeed thankful and we also show our feelings through behaviors. We dogs live very closely together with our humans in most homes and we are dependent on our humans. Humans care for us out of love and we usually have so many positive experiences together that are fun and bond us even more. What are some things that we are thankful for and how do we let our humans know how we feel?
Food and treats, walks, car rides (but not for all dogs like Bailie), getting to play with friends, our sports we love if we are sports dogs, a home to live in, praise when we do good things, and most of all we are thankful for our human(s). How do we show our appreciation?
Tail wagging is the biggest tell we give. Everyone knows a dog wagging its tail like crazy and wiggling along with it is a happy dog. Tail wagging can’t be captured in a still photo as it is a blur, but we all know what it looks like.
Smiling is another way dogs tell humans we are super happy and thankful. Bailie appreciates having a yard to hang out in and sunshine to keep her warm. She has a nice but silly smile.
Our favorite toys are a reason to thank our humans. Nelson loves his toys and all the ones we love. His thing is to hoard them but as you can see, it makes him feel very proud.
Cuddling, snuggling, my leap, all with our humans show how much we love them and that dogs are thankful for human companionship. At our house we all love to be cozy with Mom and she loves it too.
Humans and dogs are a perfect match. We both need and appreciate each other. Our humans show us love in so many ways and we show them gratefulness in many of our own ways. It is a win, win situation for all. What does your dog do to show how thankful he/she is to have you?

What a great post and yes, we do think that dogs are appreciative and thankful and they show us in so many ways!
We thought of the question by accident and then the ball started rolling. It is an interesting thing to think about.
Definitely we show each other gratitude! I just love mom and show her when I snuggle next to her and when I am so happy when she comes home. Last night a friend came to stay with us and I was over the moon with happiness! I love our friend and I showed it – I brought in a toy, I kissed, I danced and I stayed right nearby!
Great post! your friend Chester
We have a good sized house but we all sit in the same smaller room with Mom almost all day while she works. Being near to each other is something we all love. Glad you had fun with your mom’s friend.
We show our mom our thankfulness in many ways all the time. Our Mom says that dogs and humans have special bonds that are magical.
We agree. It is amazing all the time and we know our humans so very well.
Gratitude leads to happiness: win -win!!!
There’s lots of happy around here!
Clover looks at me with her beautiful eyes and I know she loves me.
She looks so sweet in the photos we have seen. You both are lucky to be with each other.
Great post and photos of a very precious and thankful doggie and Mom too ~ hugs,
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

We love our leaping, that is for sure! All of us are lucky to have one another.
What a perfect thankful today! Tail wags and sometimes kisses are a couple of ways we show our humans we’re thankful!

Tail wags are so fun and easy to show thankfulness, aren’t they. We are all super lucky to have a great family as are you guys.
I would never, ever doubt that you pups are thankful, especially for the most special life you have! Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It is a fun thing to think about though.
Animals have emotions and can be thankful. They may not show it the same way as humans, but why should they, they aren’t human, they are themselves.
Each species has their own way of communicating things, you are right and humans do understand a lot about dogs but dogs understand much more about humans.
I do feel like dogs show it in many ways being a loyal companion/pet, a tongue licking, jumping up and putting your paws on our shoulders, alerting us to danger like when there is a fire and so much more
We sure do show it, humans just need to look for it. Being thankful is not only for people.
We totally agreed with your assessment on dog thankfulness. Yet more reasons to enjoy about our pups.
People and pups are a perfect combination!
Happy Gotcha Day, handsome boy. You’ve managed to accomplish so much in 3 years. Well done, Nelson.
Thank you. I still have some big goals for my year of being three and I hope they work out.
