Team Lime Green had another good day of sniffing last Friday. My Elite Trial was at a school about twenty minutes from our house. Mom and I were ready to go and we hoped to do well again. We searched the auditorium, two, adjoining science lab rooms, an exterior area and a commons area. I don’t know what happened but we totally forgot to take photos of me waiting and stuff. This is the only one we took.
The good news is that I only missed getting an overall placement by half a hide. A half hide happens if someone gets a no or another fault, then you lose a half hide worth of points. We didn’t lose any and ended up placing sixth out of thirty dogs. The best news is that I placed third in my science lab search and second in my commons search. This is now three trials in a row where I have gotten at least one placement. Mom and I love bringing home ribbons!
My commons search was really tough – A big area, three and a half minutes and an unknown number of hides. We used almost all of our time trying to find the one last hide ending with only fourteen seconds left. The video is that search. Mom realized I was stuck on the problem and took me to look for hides elsewhere. When I came back at the very end I was able to solve the puzzle. There were two hides at the same level in a similar location that were converging and I could not sort them out at first. Only three of us found all four hides, so it was not an easy puzzle. Mom was smart to get me out of there and to come back later with some fresh thoughts. Since I had found one of those two earlier it was a bit easier to solve the last one.
Mom was super happy with our results. We always forget that I am one of the youngest dogs at this level, which means I don’t have the experience older dogs have. I am still able to keep up pretty well. She stopped on the way home to get special treats for us all for the evening to celebrate my success. As you can see, I was not happy about sharing, but I did willingly give each of my sisters a smoked beef tendon. Of course, the bigger one was for me! I will be doing AKC sports for the month of May, Olivia is competing this coming weekend in NACSW. We are booked pretty much every weekend for the next six to eight weeks.
My GBGV Life is happy, so we’re joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!

You and your mom are such a great team, Nelson. Well done!
We are getting better and better and it all becomes more fun this way.
bravo bravo well done! we think schools are the biggest challenge… there is the smell of millions of sandwiches bubble gums and candy bars… and you found the right place between all that smells.
Lunchrooms are tough, but I can sort things out pretty well.
That was a grand search!
Mom and I are super proud of it.
Wow! Nelson ~ Bravo to you sweet doggie and Mom ~ great job! hugs,

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the pups and a hug to mom. ♥
Go Lime Green, actually green does mean go, LOL!
Nelson in my opinion you are a most handsome lean green sniffin’ machine. That was a huge room.
I adore the photo of you at the end…love that look in your eyes
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you. At the higher levels the hides are trickier, spaces larger and time shorter but we are getting it.
Bringing home the ribbons! Great work. We loooove when there is a video. How about the hide that was up the wall! Was it in a light switch or something? We don’t know how you do it but it so impressive to watch. Were there snacks on the floor that were distracting you too? My goodness you are very good at your work! Congratulations
I have trouble ignoring snacks but I do my best. The wall hide was behind the plaque on the wall, a ways above my head. Sniffing is fun and I have been working on it for three years so I am getting pretty good most of the time.
Go Nelson!!!! You are doing so well, and bet you, Olivia and your Mom are going to have a blast competing in the coming weeks!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
Olivia gets this weekend, then it is me for three weekends. Olivia will be steaming like a clam when she finds that out!
WOW, Nelson! I’d say you did a remarkable job of sniffing and…you “brought home the bacon” to share with your sisters! How kind of you!
We always celebrate good sports days which includes treats for all!
WOW, ribbons and treats, that was a really good day!
It is a good deal all around!
Congratulations! You and your mom are getting better and better as a team at knowing just what to do.
Mom is understanding me much better and I also am learning to help her understand me.
Congrats! Way to stick with it you guys. Well done, Nelson. You have a terrific snooter to find everything that you did.
I did pretty well and we seem to be getting better all the time which Mom and I both love.
