I’m thankful for one on one time with my mom. She is pretty good about keeping things fair. Being the only dog for a bit is fun and special but it would also be lonely if it was that way all the time. The other day she asked me to ride along on errands with her and I hopped right in the car! I love adventures.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Nelson got to spend time with Mom running his FastCAT. Saturday when Nelson got home, Mom took Bailie to Gramma’s house for the rest of the day. Sunday afternoon was my time. Mom ran some errands and then we stopped for a nice walk around a small lake.
I took some time to reflect on life in general while looking at the scenery. Mom got this shot of me doing that. I was really wishing a rabbit would race by but no such luck.
We left the lake trail and went over to a playground to investigate the things they have to play with/on. Mom thinks this climbing wall makes a good photo frame. I guess you could say she framed me.
Here is one more shot of my one on one time with Mom at the lake. It truly was a beautiful afternoon and fun times hanging out with Mom for a couple hours. We are lucky she makes sure we all get special time and to do fun things with her which we do love.

One on one time is so special and as you know, being an only pup, I have it all the time. What great pictures your mom took, Olivia!
None of us have every been an only dog, not even as puppies but Mom says it would be lonely and she feels better with us having others around to hang out with. Her first dog was an only dog most of her life and she was a happy girl we hear.
oh oh oh that is THE BEST time… and after that only me time she feels guilty for the other one and we can get tho whole hand instead only the small finger hehehehe
LOL! We always want to do everything but we do some things just with Mom and then the others are not so happy.
We like going places, except when it is too hot. We actually do better traveling as a pack than traveling individually.
Bailie never travels well, so her alone time is walks from our house in the mornings by herself and when she goes to Gramma’s. Nelson and I love to go along all the time.
What a wonderful afternoon. We agree that Mom and Me time is pretty special!

It’s great having some alone time.
You are an awesome girl and you have an amazing and awesome mom.
It’s fun to be an only dog for a couple hours.
This is so sweet. We loved reading about your one on one time with your mom. You all have a great set up!
You know my mom had two dogs for a long time. At first, when she had only Dash, she thought he needed a sibling so along came Lilly. She loved having both of them and they were a lot of fun together. But when Dash died, Mom and Lilly were so sad. Lilly said it was okay, and she could be an only dog. And she probably could have been. But Mom didn’t think that was true. And Mom knew that when it was time for Lilly to go, she did not want to have an empty house. So along came me! And when Lilly died (five years later! she lived a nice long life-15 years!!) Mom spoke with me and told me that she didn’t want to have two dogs at that point and that I was going to be an only dog. I missed Lilly but she was older when I knew her so we didn’t do too much playing together. So I told Mom that I would be okay being an only dog just as long as I got to play with my friends at day care and to visit my cousins as much as possible. It is a good set up! I am such a good only dog. I am glad that I came here to be with Mom. We have a happy small family – the two of us! We are a great pair! Thanks for your post and thanks for listening to our story! Have a great night. your friend Chester
Such a wonderful tale of the dog situation in your home. It is interesting how decisions are made in different families. Mom had one,Trine, for many years then she wanted a second and Katie came into her life. When Trine passed away, Mom wanted another companion for Katie and that is where Emma joined the family. Mom was in touch with the GBGV breeder as she had Emma’s half brother and then a litter of fourteen puppies. The GBGV was a breed Mom fell in love with so she had the breeder come by one time when she was in our area where her father was living at the time. Mom tried to say she didn’t want a third dog, didn’t even buy puppy food or anything but Bailie won her over quickly and suddenly there were three. Nelson was a questionable addition. Mom really wanted another puppy and she finally decided she could do it but then she changed her mind and cancelled picking him up. After a couple weeks he was so much on her mind, she had to adopt him and he was a perfect addition to the family. Four was a lot but it was also a lot of fun. Sadly, with our unplanned loss of Madison we are back to three. Mom contemplates a puppy but they are hard to come by. We will see what the future holds. If it was meant to be, it will happen. Mom always wanted a lot of kids and has none. She loves the chaos of a bunch of dogs. We are happy with whatever she decides. We are all loved, get our special time, and if another sibling comes along, it will be welcomed with open paws. Thanks to you and your mom for being our friends.
Love this so much. It seems our moms have inner voices they listen to!! We are so glad Nelson came along.
We can’t imagine our family without him.
I love how you all get special one-on-one time with your mom! Most of my life I’ve been in a two-dog family – and for the first 3 years that Ducky was with us, we were a 3-dog family. Now that Sam is at the 🌈Bridge with Ducky, Bogie, and the others, it’s a whole different dynamic. It would be a lot easier for me to have just Zen – he’s been an easy dog since he was just a puppy – but I wanted him to have a little sister to play with and keep him company when I had to go somewhere that I couldn’t bring him. Little did I know that Zoey would have separation anxiety, even with Zen here for company. But, we work around it. So our one-on-one time is limited, but they both get separate snuggle sessions with me every day. And we’re a happy little family of three.
It is just like having kids. One is perfect and then the next you never know if they will have health or behavioral issues. But we are all loved and Mom handles it all. It is nice to have another one of same kind to hang out with.
What a terrific outing for you and your mom!
Mom and me time is my favorite, I love being with her.
