Mom and I had a Summit Trial at the University of St. Thomas on Summit Avenue last weekend. It is my second time trialing there. Mom loves it because she graduated from college there. She tells me about the things that are still there and how it was when she was there many years ago.
It was a warm but not too hot weekend. Still, we enjoyed waiting for our searches inside air conditioned spaces. This is me waiting to search eight vehicles in the underground garage of one of the dorms. They have really cool paintings.
Our hope was to earn our second Summit Title but it was not to be. The top five dogs earn the title and we were team six. Sooooo close! Still what an excellent result when you are competing with twenty eight dogs at the highest level of nose work. A Summit Trial is two days long with four searches each day. Team Orange earned a third place in our Think Tank search, and second place in the Stadium Exterior and Stadium storage search. We are completely happy with our trial results and placements.
This stadium is the last place Mom was at when she went to school at St. Thomas. It is where her graduation ceremony was held. Funny how the two searches there are where we earned our second place ribbons! We snapped this photo of me after our Stadium Storage search.
The video above is my stadium storage search which Mom says was the most fun of all eight searches. It is a large area and there is a lot of stuff in the first part of the area. Check out my video above to see me find all the hides. Only three dogs found all six of them.
Our last search of the trial was a speed search with two and a half minutes to find three hides in the think tank. The challenge here is time and the first two hides I find are close together, so I need to separate them and know there are two and not just one. Mom loves me on the third hide. It looks simple to a human but if you watch me, I had to do a lot of work before I put my paws on the desk and my nose right on the hide!
All in all, we had a blast, saw lots of our friends and did a pretty good job. Hope you enjoy my searching. The Go Pro isn’t always perfect because it all depends on how Mom moves but most of the footage is pretty good.
My GBGV Life is happy, so we’re joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!

Well done, Olivia! We love how you find the hide and then swing your head and smile at your mom as she treats you!
I’m always proud of finding the hides. It is so much fun especially when they are harder puzzles.
bravo olivia… summit in summer… ;O))) happy july to you hounds and the mama
Happy July! We dread it because of the 4th of July but this year we are doing something different.
You had a really happy time searching, Olivia!
I just love sniffing. I even leave critters alone to do my sniffing.
Wahoo! Great job Olivia!! We love your Mom’s videos!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
Thank you. She decided to get the GoPro because if you want to buy your videos they are not always available and they are expensive. The GoPro does a good job, but sometimes things are cut out or off.
Wow!! We love when you post videos. But Mom must be doing something wrong. We watched the stadium search twice – is there a video of the timed search?
Oh dear, the copy must not have taken in the mouse. Thank you so much for letting us know. We now have the speed search on there too. Funny how the mind didn’t even notice!
Hope you enjoy it, it is short and sweet!
Wow!! we loved that search. You KNEW it was somewhere on that table with the computer. You knew it! We loved seeing you so focused. Mom thinks you have a serious tone. Was it Madison who loved the treats so much or is that Nelson? You seem the more serious of your siblings. Awesome post!! your friend Chester
Madison was all about meeting the people in the search area, not so into searching. Nelson is the “snack man”. He works hard and is honest but he loves those snacks. I will work and work and work. I just love the thrill of solving the odor puzzles and being with my mom. I once had a chipmunk run across the start line right before my search. Mom was devastated thinking I would never search but she gave me my command and I was on the odor puzzles right away. That speed search was a fun one.
What Duke said. That’s what I was thinking. I’m glad you all had a great time.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the pups and a big hug to mom. ♥
It was really fun.

ps ~ got comments working obviously
It seems to be working now. We did have fun and Mom enjoyed seeing how the campus has changed since she was a student there.
Excellent job, Olivia!! looks like you decided to check into admissions and follow in your mom’s footsteps!
If I could sniff there every day I might go there.
What a fun visit to Mom’s University. The campus looks very pretty and you certainly had a lovely day to be out an about. Olivia you look very happy and what a smile
Hugs Cecilia
I think you did a great job and hope you get to keep doing what you love for a long time to come.
Mom and I hope so too. She thinks the next two years will be my peak. We shall see.
You did a great job with those videos and it looks like a fun place to sniff about!
There were a lot of great places for us to do our sniffing.
I really love watching the videos. So cool!
Mom never tires of watching us work. She says it is amazing what we can do with our noses. For us it is just in a days work but we love using our noses.
Congratulations for doing so well, Olivia and how cool that it was done at your Mom’s alma mater. Woohoo.
It was super fun and we are happy to have done so well as there were a lot of really good teams at the trial.
