I’ve got some cool tips for the Dog Days of Summer which start today, July 3rd and run through August 11th. The Dog Days are typically the hottest and most humid days of the summer, something we dogs typically dread. What can you do to keep your dog safe and happy?
- Never leave a dog unattended in a hot car!
- Keep your dog in the A/C when possible.
- If you have a water dog, swimming is a good activity
- Provide plenty of fresh water, we like Ethos water since we are all Ethos hounds.
- Don’t let your pup drink from puddles or community bowls as they often spread disease.
- Take your longer walks early in the morning.
- Set up a fan for your dog.
- Serve up cooled or frozen treats.
- Just as humans in the heat, dogs may not have as big of an appetite as usual.
If you love heat and humidity, I wish you a wonderful time in the Dog Days of Summer. We will do our best to stay in the house as it is not our thing at all.

We agree with all of your tips and we spend as little time as possible outside when it’s hazy, hot and humid.
It is no fun. Summer is our least favorite time of year. If it would stay in the low to mid seventies without the humidity we could enjoy it.
frozen things aka ice cream? ooh we understand…
Frozen treats are perfect!
We love with all your tips – Our Zachary also liked cold watermelon to chew on!
Cold apple slices are Olivia’s fav.
Great info for our pets to be safe in the ‘dog days of summer’ ~ sweet photo too ~

We don’t want to be out much, it is too hot and humid to be much fun.
What great tips! I am very fond of my long morning walks and Mama always has a fresh drink of water ready for me at our halfway point!

Rosy
We hardly ever drink water unless we are at home. Mom even brings water from home for us but we refuse.
Fabulous photo! And very timely advice!
It is beginning to be a sauna outside once again.
And don’t forget to water their paws
We don’t spend that much time on the asphalt.
I’m with you, stay indoors as much as you can.
Summer is sad because it looks so nice to be outside but it is too warm to be outside.
Those are good tips and y’all are the coolest pups we know! Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Awww, thank you.
Those are some good tips. We hope you all are staying cool!
Lots of indoors with the a/c on.
Great advice to deal with this miserable time of year. Try to stay cool.
It’s another day in the 90’s with tons of humidity. We are worn out from doing hardly anything.
