Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day when we remember those furry ones we have lost over the years. We are focusing on dogs since we are dogs but Mom has also lost a lot of cats. We remember the felines, Fluffy, Mom’s first cat, Spaz, Muffy, Penelope, Skippy, the college acquired cats in the “preppy” era, Boo, Biene and Tom the German cats, and then Bert and Sophie.
Trine was Mom’s first day and the first dog she lost. She was adopted from the Humane society at just over a year old. Being a lab/newfie mix, she loved winter and snow.
At five years old, she moved with Mom to Germany and when she was nine, Katie the Kuvasz came to live with her. Katie was the first pure bred dog for Mom. The two of them got along great and enjoyed the field outside their home in southern Germany. Trine passed away from pancreatic cancer on October 21st, 2003
Katie liked water but she loved the snow. When she was five, a coincidence with Trine’s life, she moved to the USA. She was a gorgeous big fluffy lady. We lost Katie on June 17th, 2016.
The well known Emma, founder of My GBGV Life and the one who got Mom hooked on our breed was born in England, moved to Germany for eight months and then landed in the USA at ten months old. She was a special girl.
Having spent most of her first year of life on the North Sea beaches, she loved water. Minnesota, land of ten thousand plus lakes gave her plenty of places to keep on swimming when she had the chance. We lost Emma on October 30th, 2018.
Still really to painful to accept, we lost our Madison not yet one year ago. She was the smallest one but had the biggest personality and love of life of any of Mom’s dogs. Madison was always happy, and loved her people. Her tail wagged so much Mom said it might fall off one day!
As a puppy she got to experience a cold and snowy Minnesota winter and loved it. As short as she was, she always started blazing snow trails for the rest of us after we got snow. Sadly we lost her way too soon and before we had time to really process what was happening on October 8th, 2024.
All four of these amazing dogs have helped Mom learn how to make life better for us all and we thank them for all they did in their time with our family. Trine, Katie, Emma, Madison, you are all gone but you are always in our hearts, on our minds and your photos are all over our home.
We’re joining Brian’s Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

Our angels remain in our hearts always♥
They all do and each in their own way.
Hugs
Some days it is too hard.
It has been very hard here daily since losing Madison. Hopefully it will get easier one day but it doesn’t seem like it.
What a lovely tribute. Thank you for letting us know about today. Mom and I talked about Dash and Lilly this morning. Just like you, Mom has loved each of us for special reasons. Dash was very smart and very attentive. He loved everyone. Lilly was shy and only loved Mom and Dash. They both loved to hike. Mom thinks about them a lot and realizes how much they made a difference in her life. I love hearing about them.
Our Mom talks about the dogs before us all the time and we all understand about Madison since it was a family loss for all of us. Dash and Lilly were special and we remember them from our blog and hearing about them. We live in a human world but some of our dog things do train our humans when they are not lookin 😉
All so special, each in their own magical way ~ you loved them, they loved you.
Exactly, and Mom misses every one of them, not matter how long they have been gone.
Such a beautiful tribute to your special Angels!
xoxo,
Rosy, Sunny & Beth

Mom misses all of them. Bailie is the only one of us that even knew Katie and Emma. It is sad life is so short.
We’re remembering our Angels today too. (((hugs)))
We are all thankful for the memories we have.
Great memories! Thank you
Thank you. We love looking back. Most of the time it makes us smile but sometimes it still makes us sad.
Joy I did so love each picture and memory you shared. I don’t think I’d had ‘met’ Trine…All the furries in your life lived their very best lives with you. And I know you would say they enriched your life by thousands.
Hugs cecilia
Trine was really a long time ago and my first dog. She was amazing and so thankful to have a family. I have learned so much with each dog and they have made my life so much better, each in their own special way.
This was a beautiful look back tribute, thank you for sharing it!
They are all missed and all have a special place in Mom’s heart. It is fun to look back at photos and remember all the things they all did.
Such a beautiful tribute to all those who left way too soon. Hugs. Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Thank you for hosting!
May their memories bring you joy and comfort.
For the most part they make Mom and us all pretty happy, but Mom still can’t think much about Madison without tearing up.
Such beautiful remembrances of some very special dogs. We know your mom is still grieving over the loss of Madison; we miss her too. Sending tender thoughts of comfort your way.
She just can’t get past it. It is because it was so fast and she was still so young. There was no time for spending some time to do things. It is very hard but one day the tears will turn to smiles for the good memories.
