Today we’ve got some odds and ends from our Faribault weekend. As we mentioned on Tuesday, there was some scent work and then five other things to compete in for titles. The first new thing we tried was ATT, AKC Temperament Test. I gave it a try first and passed my first run and then passed my second run with the other judge, giving me my ATT Title! Olivia failed her first test and then decided not to continue.
The Temperament Test is not easy. It too is a bit like a CGC Test but more difficult with scary obstacles. Mom is super proud of me being so brave and doing things out of my comfort zone. As you can see from the list above, I had to go through a lot of different challenges. This is a photo of one of my two tests. After the weekend, I have two new titles after my fancy name!
Olivia signed up for some Master Container trials to practice for her National in a couple weeks. Master Containers is twenty containers with an unknown number of one to three hides and four minutes to find the hides. The extra trick is there are three distractors which can be food, toys, sounds or people. She aced all three searches with two fourth places and one first place.
There always seems to be something that didn’t go well and that was failing our main goal of the weekend. I needed two Q’s in Detective to earn my title but in the end I only got one Q. I worked super hard with very challenging puzzles and only passed one search, in the others I missed one hide in each. It is super disappointing but I will try again. I’m still very young for competing at the levels I do. All these things go into my mental file and will help me out down the road. On to the next thing. Olivia are thankful for all the sports opportunities we have and when we do well, it is extra fun.

We put a lot of time and effort into our sports and it usually pays off. It is what we love to do with our Mom and she loves it too. Trying new things out of the blue doesn’t always work out but it is also fun and since it isn’t all that important, if it doesn’t work, that is alright too.

Mom thought I had a chance but might need a few tries. I shocked her and did it all in my first two tests for my title. Olivia didn’t like some of the surfaces and wasn’t interested in learning to deal with them, so she gave up.

There were some surprises like the new titles on the weekend and shock in a bad way that I only got one Q in detective but things happen good and bad.
I love reading about all your adventures although I do think some of them are weird.
We are not in the obedience world at all and a lot of these tests are more obedience based. Even if we are not aces, we can behave for a short time usually and that is all that was needed. Mom figures if you are at an event anyway and have a chance to try something new and get a title, why not?

We had some good wins on the weekend and some misses but practice makes perfect some day.

Mom is still impressed with our unplanned new titles! We need more people to have GBGVs and do things with them because they can be awesome and while they are not good at obedience, they can manage to pass some of these CGC and CGC type tests.
Way to go Nelson! And Olivia, one Q is better than NO Q, so you both did splendid!
Yeah, but that last Q is the hardest because of the pressure.
