Mr. Nelson is out and Detective Nelson is in as of Sunday morning. I had three AKC Detective trials on the weekend at the Nicollet High School and needed to pass just one to earn my title. In the end, I managed to qualify and earn my new title, the highest title in AKC Scent Work.
This is a hard title to earn as you need to qualify ten times which means be perfect ten times. Each search is five to fifteen minutes long and has the unknown range of five to ten hides. You have to be perfect or there is no Q. Most searches only have a few dogs that qualify, which means it takes a long time to earn this title. Here I am waiting to go into one of my searches on the weekend. I do get impatient as I really love to play the game and waiting is not a lot of fun.
My first search didn’t go so well, and we missed one hide. The second search seemed pretty good until we found out we missed one hide. It is rather questionable after no one qualified in that search and Mom didn’t find that missing hide to be entirely fair. My third search went pretty well. The exterior portion was rough as my head wasn’t in the game but I did find the hides out there and then in the auditorium, I worked and managed to find those hides. Mom was scared to call finish but finally did after I found eight hides and that was my last Q. Only four dogs qualified and I earned fourth place for my search.
There is no good way to display all my Q ribbons as they are different sizes with different hanging mechanisms, so Mom took this photo of them all, some are behind others and not showing.
Now it is official, no more Mr. Nelson, it is Detective Nelson, we are super proud of my new title. I’m the second GBGV ever to earn this title, of course, Olivia was the first. I am also only three years old and I have the two highest AKC Scent Work Titles and the second highest NACSW Title which is kind of fun. Most dogs are older when they achieve these dreams. Gotta go, mysteries need to be solved by the newest Detective in town!
My GBGV Life is happy, so we’re joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
Congratulations, Detective Nelson! Look at all of those beautiful well-earned ribbons!
Detective is a long road but I traveled it and now have my title. I’m sure happy!
congrats detective nelson!!! you are a super pup and the best detective…
I will be very busy sniffing out crime everywhere I go!
Detective Nelson you need a floppy had and a pipe Congrats on your excellent work

I do have a pipe but I am not wanting to smoke so I refused to put it in my mouth.
Congratulations, Detective Nelson! That is a Grand ribbon display.
Just part of our big wall of accomplishments. Mom says it is so full the sheetrock may fall down one day from the weight of it all, LOL!
We are so happy for you, Detective Nelson!! We can’t wait to see whet you accomplish next!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
Now that I have all the main titles in Scent Work, I’m after the highest title in Nose Work, which will be really hard to get too. In the meantime, I’ll be entering trials and sniffing when I can. Olivia and I will not retire from sniffing as we both love it way too much and so does Mom.
If I need some help in solving a case will you help me!
I’m sure I could sniff out the answers you need 🙂
Way to go Detective Nelson. I’m so proud of you.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the pups and a hug to mom. ♥

I hope to get a case when we get back from Olivia’s Summit Trial this coming weekend. I also earned my Elite Champion title two months earlier than she did. We have a small rivalry going on for fun.
