Today we have some miscellaneous Maine fun photos. We saw lots of things on our week long trip but some only warranted one or two photos. This post will feature the odds and ends that are worth posting. The Welcome to Maine sign is the first one. No it is not snow on the ground! The rocks are white and for some reason in photos they look like snow.
On our way home we saw a diner that had a bunch of chickens out side. Naturally, liking the weird stuff, we stopped and took a couple photos, like these skeleton chickens with the giant skeleton. Who comes up with such an idea? Weird, yet interesting.
These two chickens are more normal except for the one wearing the witch hat. We didn’t go in the diner. Mom was a bit afraid of what they might be serving, LOL.
Driving down the expressway, Mom all of the sudden started going nuts about the truck in front of us. Our navigator grabbed her phone and took some photos. Did anyone watch the old TV show Emergency! Mom and her brother were big fans of John and Roy, the EMTs on Squad 51. Who would expect to see the squad in front of them on the road in Maine?
Mom thought she was crazy but then when we pulled up next to the “squad”, we saw what it is doing out there. The sighting made Mom and our Navigator quite happy and suddenly they were tossing around names like Rampart, Dixie, Chet, Dr. Brackett… We have no idea but the humans were quite excited about seeing this red truck.
Remember the LLBean Bootmobile from last week? Well, in the outdoor store, Mom tried on this coat as she was coat shopping. We think it is a bit too big but what do we know. It was fun too see her try it on, though.
The first morning in Maine we were doing some early morning shopping and came across these two artsy dogs.
Finally, if you follow us, you may know we are always on the hunt for @greetingtour murals. This one in Portland, Maine is our fourteenth. It is different from the other postcard type murals as it is one of their seldom painted decal murals. We think it is fun and works well in a smaller space. It was just completed in 2024. The parts of the mural are:
- Top – Fort Gorges and Casco Bay Lines Ferry
- Middle – Portland Observatory and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
- Bottom – Historic Working Waterfront

Didn’t see Stephen King but we did really enjoy Maine.
Those artsy dogs are really cute. Interesting that there is a replica of the show vehicle being used as an educational tool.

It was great weather and beautiful on the coast and we enjoyed the smaller towns too.

LL Bean was doing a major renovation project so it wasn’t as nice as usual but we still had fun and Mom bought a coat but not the huge one.

Lots of fun finds on our trip to Maine 🙂 We like it there and may go back for a trial one day. We need to get to SC and then the wild west first.
Awesome post. It shows the value of having a camera handy because you just never know when a photo opportunity will pop up in your windshield. We often stop at random flea markets on our road trips and I go looking for items to photograph for the blog. Have a special week.
I love some of the things you find at flea markets. We never thought about going to places like that for photography, but it is a great idea.
You sweet pups always find so many interesting things and how cool to see Squad 51!
That Squad 51 thing is a mystery to us, but we still saw lots of things that were more for us.

Such cool pics! Our first reaction when we saw that squad vehicle on the tow truck was whoa…LA County is a loooonnnngg way from Maine! Makes you wonder what prompted them to get it. Loved the chicken skellies. They made Mum chuckle. Thanks for sharing highlights from your long journey. You guys sure know how to have fun. I’m going to have to have a heart to heart with Mum since she doesn’t take me to such exciting placed.

Mom has always had a travel bug and except for Bailie her dogs have always loved to travel too. It is fun to see and smell different things.
