Do 51 boxes make a happy Boxing Day? Let’s take a look. Being nose work dogs we have a lot of boxes around the house. Many of them are no longer allowed because of their shape, but we still use them. We’ve got 27 ORT (odor recognition test) boxes in various sizes, 9 USPS boxes, 3 triangles, 4 mondo boxes, 4 small and 4 large pizza boxes. Let’s see what we can do with them.
With Mom as our architect, we came up with a design. Honestly, as we were building we wished we had another 51 boxes but we still managed to put together a fun “set” for a photo. We have three nose work dogs, and three spots in our set up.
Here we are with the finished product. Happy Boxing Day to all who celebrate. We have no idea what the day is for but we sure got some good use out of our boxes. Mom sorted them out too, which has been necessary for a while. How about you, are you planning to build anything with boxes to celebrate today?

Mom had a good time building it and we are happy it forced us to sort out our boxes after years on them being all over the place.

We have only a few boxes to practice with.
Over the last thirteen years Mom had collected quite a few. Some have “died” but we keep the good ones and use them for practice now and then or if we have a new puppy who needs to learn about container searches. We also have plastic shoe boxes and tool boxes but we only wanted to use cardboard for our design today.
We do not have ANY practice boxes! We haven’t tried nose work yet, but we sure are interested in this sport! We need to check into all of this. we are just getting stated in FastCat
Once a dog learns odor, the boxes come out. If you go the Specialty in April, we will be there with Mom to do a nose work seminar and offer private coaching to help people get started with their dogs on nose and scent work.

It is a fun idea and Mom is shocked no one knocked over the structure while trying to pose for the photo!
What a fun idea! Boxing Day was originally the day you boxed up Christmas goodies for the less fortunate, or for public servants (who weren’t exactly living the high life back then), but now simply finding a way to enjoy your boxes is a good idea.
We wanted to have some fun and with so many boxes in our lives this is what happened.

Sometimes you have to be creative to have some out of the ordinary fun.
Wow – that’s a lot of boxes! It might be fun to knock them over now that the photo has been taken☺
Nope, none of us even tried to knock them down. It was fun, though, having them all together since they are usually all over the place around the house from when we use them for nose work.
Wilson here…why aren’t there any pizza boxes? 😂
Of course there are pizza boxes! Check on top of the columns. We have large plain white and the red/white ones that are smaller. Not sure why there is no pizza in the boxes, that would make them better!
