We are enjoying the gift of nose work vessels from Christmas. We have a lot of different vessels to put the odor in but new ones are a lot of fun. A friend makes some with a 3D printer and Mom bought some for us. We now have a pine cone, a rock, and the six pretty colored ones with a magnet in one end. Mom thought we should give them a try, so we did on Christmas morning.
Our search included a few of the new hides and some of our old ones. Nelson and I had seven hides, some challenging ones, and Bailie had four more simple hides. I started the searching and of course, Mom forgot to take photos of me searching but she did get me finding the pine cone hanging on the tree. My eyes are rather goofy. Normally we don’t find hides in our tree, but my nose doesn’t lie.
Nelson sniffed after I finished. One of the first ones he found was under Mom’s desk. He doesn’t need to give an alert as Mom can tell from how he is moving that he is on the odor.
The new rock hide is on the floor between Santa and the Elf. Nelson caught it from the other side but Mom would like us to always get our noses right on hides when they are accessible.
He came around to the other side to get his nose on it all on his own as he knows how Mom likes things done. This one will be a lot of fun when it is outside in the real rocks in the spring.
Our brother is good about finding hides above his head that are on tables or desks. This new green magnetic hide is on the metal box on the table. He worked really hard to narrow down the location before gently putting his paws on the table. Nelson is a big tough guy, but he is always very gentle when putting his paws up on anything in nose work or life in general.
Being Christmas, Mom thought it would be fun to have a hide on the Christmas Snoopy tin. He didn’t care much about the Snoopy thing, Nelson wanted his snacks that Mom had just made.
Bailie loves to sniff with us and she gets mad if Mom doesn’t give her nose work puzzles too. She searched under Mom’s desk as we did.
When she narrowed down the source, she stepped back and let Mom know.
Bailie has some arthritis and isn’t good at putting her paws up these days, so Mom moved the table hide to a lower door hinge. Bailie had no trouble finding it. Can you tell she is ready to get her treat for finding it?
It’s always good to have new places to search, new hide placements and new vessels to keep us all from getting into a rut. We’ll have a lot more sniffing fun with a bigger collection of vessels to put hides in! Mom did well with these as a Christmas gift for us all.
My GBGV Life is joining Comedy Plus for Awww Monday.

Love the pictures. Those look like fun ways to practice and play scentwork.
New and different hides are always fun and help expose us to new things and ways odor can be hidden.
What lucky dogs you all are!! New containers/challenges are the perfect gift for you!!! One of these days we are going to check out nose work; for right now we are running FastCat and Lydia has a tryout slot for therapy dog classes in about a week. We would love to see her follow in her daddy, Chablis’s, pawprints. He is still well remembered by the staff and trainers for his super abilities. Pray for her because she is the only one of us that could qualify for this special job. She is a real loose cannon on her training skills these days. We hope it is just hormones. Olive and I were disqualified because we are both “storm reactive.”
Bailie would have been an ideal therapy dog but Mom has no interest in therapy dog stuff so she never did give it a try. Nelson and I would not do well with it either. Dog sports are much more fun. Maybe Lydia will like it.
You guys are so great. I can’t wait to see all the awards during next season
Now that we are at the top of the sports we will get more placements than titles since titles are based on points and it takes several trials to get enough points but we will still enjoy our sniffing adventures.
OMDs what wonderful new hiddies. Variety spices up the fun especially inside.
Nelson you have a very long sleek body
Hugs cecilia
I’m really long, actually everything on me is long except for my legs, LOL!
You doggies are so smart and how fun to have new ‘hides’ ~ to find ~ great Xmas treats ~ and wonderful photos ~ Hugs and Happy New Year ~

These are fun ones and we will enjoy them outside too when it isn’t so cold out.
You’re so adorable. Mom makes sure you can do whatever you need to do more comfortably. So precious.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the pups and a hug to mom. ♥
She knows us really well and we appreciate that she knows how each of us are.
You are such committed scent hounds! Practicing even during the holidays! Well done! your friend Chester
We love sniffing so it is fun for us, not seen as work at all. Even Bailie enjoys it.
What fun new vessels to hide scents in! You guys will be winning even more awards in 2026!
We are hoping to have a good 2026.
Such a perfect Christmas present for you all. It’s nice to see Bailie also doing a bit of sniffing!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
Mom wants her to finish her masters title. That will be a tough thing to do but who knows. Mom can be determined.
You pups sure are sniffing amazing!
We sure do love our sniffing!
It’s nice to get gifts which are both useful and fun. I’m glad Bailie still enjoys searching, even if she doesn’t like to do it at trials.
She does some easier hides and does enjoy doing it and getting some good treats!
How cool that you guys got new hides. Practicing at home should give you guys a paw up on the competition!
We always do practice at home or we go places and Mom puts out hides. It’s important to change things up and test out new things so we are ready for our next trials.
