Today we are all thankful for Mom having good footwear on ice. The weather has been hot and cold which means ice all over the place. Despite the roads and sidewalks being like ice rinks, we are still out for our walks twice a day.
We snapped this yesterday morning on the sidewalk. It is all solid ice. We dogs walk more in the snow but Mom walks right over the ice like it is nothing at all.
The roads have disgusting dirty ice but smoother ice, and lately pretty much the entire roadway.
Back in 2017, Mom broke her ankle when she slipped on some ice hidden under snow while out for a run with me. A good friend told her about icebug shoes that come from Sweden. Mom found it hard to believe that these shoes and boots could really be so good on ice. She bought the cheapest pair they had in her size on Amazon and tried them out. They are amazing!
The spikes are adaptable meaning the spikes adjust to the surface be it ice, snow, or asphalt. They are also waterproof in case you end up in puddles. Mom wears them all the time now as good footwear is necessary when you walk as much as she does with the three of us. She has four pairs in the closet, an old pair for when there is barely any ice, a running pair, the pair above and for snowy days, boots. Even walking five or so miles a day in them, they do last two to three years. Mom is afraid to go out walking with us in the winter without them. She has told tons of dog friends about them and everyone that has gotten a pair is also amazed. We sure are thankful she has these to keep her upright and in one piece!

Mom didn’t believe they would be any better than the things you strap on regular shoes but they are amazing! She will always have at least one pair to wear in the winter.
We are so glad your Mom found shoes to keep her standing so you all can go out and enjoy your morning snow walks!

We wish we had snowy walks. This winter we keep getting rain and then more ice. It is really bad.

Mom didn’t believe they would work all that well but when she tried that first cheap pair, she was so amazed. It is nice to have safe footwear for ice.

Most people, like my mom was at first, don’t believe they will be that good and they are not cheap but they are amazing. We are glad your mom is wearing them too when needed.
Icebugs WOW what a great invention for those living in cold snowy areas. I am not familiar with them but for certain they are worth a billion dollars since they keep Mom safe.
I bought yak traxs for whenever we need them. Have not used them once but WE HAVE them !

Mom has yaktrax too but they are not good for ice. Everyone things they are but they really slide. Icebugs have adaptable spikes and work on snow, ice, and asphalt. They are truly amazing and we are happy Mom has them so we can walk in any winter weather.

I actually have four pairs, boots, shoes, running shoes and a cheap old pair. I just buy the style I like as they are all the same quality. I never believed my friend who told me they were so good, but they truly are. See what they have in your size and a style you like and get them. They will last several years, so even if they are a bit expensive, they are definitely worth it!

I think they are. I wore mine in a puddle up to the laces the other day and my feet even stayed dry. These shoes are amazing!

Mom has had them for six or seven years now. They are the best shoes/boots for snow and especially ice but you can’t wear them indoors.

When I visited Norway last Winter I bought some crampons, spiky things which you attach to your boots. I don’t know what I’ve have done without them – fallen over probably!
We love these as they are all in one and they work so well. They are from Sweden, so go figure.
Wow, those shoes look amazing. Glad they continue to keep your Mum upright. Nothing worse than getting injured while you’re walking dogs far from home. I broke my leg when my ankle landed in a divot and snapped. I was in a cast for 5 months. Getting home many blocks away with 3 dogs was no bueno!
Oh no, that is terrible! Mom was running with Bailie at the time but it was maybe 1/4 mile from home. She actually got home and took the other two out for a short walk. It wasn’t a super bad break and she was sure it was a sprain so the ER didn’t happen until the next day when her ankle kept swelling. Mom has a high pain threshold and really prefers to avoid the doctor when possible. 5 months must have seemed like 5 years, awful!
