It’s Groundhog Day 2026 and the question is will Phil see his shadow or not? You may remember Nelson, Madison, and I visited Punxutawney, PA in December 2026 on our way to a nose work trial. The grounds were covered in ice, thus we only have photos of us one at at time. Mom didn’t want anyone to pull her causing an accident. Since it was my trial weekend, I got the honors of the big stage where Phil will be today.
Madison got to be by the entrance to the “stadium” seating with the big tall sign. Honestly, it was the best part of the whole trip seeing this place and the actual town.
Nelson took his spot by the main entrance gate. He was just a puppy, not quite eleven months old! I think he figured out early on travel would be a big part of his life as well as finding crazy things and places for photos. Being a good sport, he goes along with whatever silliness we are up to.
What is the story on this day, how did it get started. The sign explains it all.
On the way out of town, we found this mural, unfortunately, with a car parked in front of it but still photo worthy.
Finally we get back to the original question, will Phil see his shadow or not. This is the actual place where he comes outside to find out. On the day we visited there was no sun so there would have been no shadow. Today, we will see!
To all of you from our pack, Happy Groundhog Day! At our house, we are hoping Phil sees his shadow.
My GBGV Life is joining Comedy Plus for Awww Monday.

We remember your visit here and we don’t believe that we will have an early spring. It’s been too cold for too long for everyone!
We are hoping for more winter, we will see how that goes.
oooh you have bestest connection to the weather guys… can you please push them in the right direction a little? we want spring now…
He went with our wishes and is sending six more weeks of winter, yay!!!
How totally awesome that you got to visit Phil’s place!
xoxo,

We were really bummed because there was a snowstorm and they cancelled Madison’s trial so we had an extra day to kill and we found Punxy. It is such a fun place to visit!
I never knew about the origin of Phil
thank you for posing for a picture.
45 days til spring
Hugs to you all
Cecilia
We are excited for more winter. Spring is a muddy mess until the end and winter is more fun in our opinion. We learned a lot about Phil on that stop.
That’s a fun place to visit. I’m sure we will get more winter, which I am really tired of. More snow for you guys.
NYC doesn’t really need snow, but we sure do!
Great post and doggie photos as always ~ We have enough snow on the ground to last till Spring and still very cold ~ Shadow or not enjoy each day ~ hugs,

We take what we can get and hope it lasts a long time.
A wonderful place to explore. Six more weeks of winter.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the pups and a hug to mom. ♥
Phil is now on our good groundhog list with that forecast! Bring it on!
According to Phil, there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Here, we hope we get some more winter rain!!!!
No rain here, we want more cold and snow. Hopefully Phil is correct.
I remember your trip there, those are all fun photos!
It was fun and then a while later we found the place where the movie took place in Illinois. It was a big groundhog year for us.
It’s a rather fascinating place. Happy Groundhog Day!
The whole town was so crazy, all about a groundhog! The actual place that is on TV is outside of town, way up on a hill. We are glad we went and got to see it all.
Since ‘Phil’ is a rodent, we don’t have a lot of faith in his ability to predict when spring arrives. The calendar tells me that. I suspect spring will arrive then and have a few yo-yo days. Soon enough we’ll all be complaining about the heat. 😁 Great pics from PA!
We are not summer fans and spring means mud, rain, messes, so as long as winter wants to stay we are fine with it. Phil is just a fun thing and since we were in his neighborhood we stopped by.
great photos!!! you guys/gal’s have all the fun! Love the history of this tradition. didn’t know All of it.
We were really sad when the one trial of the two was cancelled but then when we found out we could go to Punxy, we were thrilled. It is definitely a fun town to visit and it is interesting to drive outside town to where Phil reports from each year.
