We had barn hunt practice on Sunday morning. Olivia and I are struggling to work now and be paid later. Last lesson I had a really good search but this time I was not so thrilled about it all. At least I did the tunnel without any fear. It looks like we will be trialing in April to try to get our Senior Titles. The person who runs the trials we go to in Minnesota has lessons at a private home every two weeks. For us it works well.
Olivia didn’t do well at all on her first attempt, but she knocked it out of the rat ring on her second try! Mom and her got all crazy and wild and Olivia picked off all the rats quickly and did the tunnel. We know how to find them, we just choose not to since we have to wait for treats.
When we finished with our hour lesson, Mom thought we should stop and take a walk since it was super nice outside. We stopped at Koch Minnesota Trail in Rosemount for our walk. Mom remembers stopping here once before but she couldn’t remember when or which dog(s) were with her. When we got home, she looked it up and it was Madison almost exactly five years ago on the same trail with the same weather! She truly is still with us.
The snow was melting and that means, ice, lots of water, and dirty dogs but Mom didn’t care much about that.
Some areas are more shaded and still have some very wet snow covering the ground.
Rosemount has a big steeple as you can see in the background. It is on a church, but the church is now an activity center for 55+ people.
After hunting rats for an hour and taking a nice walk, it smells to Olivia like it is time to get back home. So, off we went to the car and back home where we could get some snoozing time in. It was a fun and somewhat productive morning for the three of us. Bailie was thrilled to be able to stay home too.
My GBGV Life is happy, so we’re joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!

Bummer that the treats don’t come quickly after the barn hunts but at least you had a nice walk!
No treats in the ring so we have to find all four rats and tunnel then we can leave and get treats. We are trying to learn that but it is hard since we are so used to being rewarded instantly for finding what we are looking for.
that is a wonderful place… and oh how we wish we had barn hunts here too…
You guys would decimate the course but have a ton of fun!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh your snow is dwindling but your handsome and beautiful faces are cause for a very happy Tuesday
Hugs cecilia
The snow situation is not good but we can’t change it, so we just have to deal with it.
We would love to try barn hunts! Unfortunately, there are many opportunities around us.
It’s hard since you can’t be rewarded in the ring and you can’t practice at home unless you invest in a ton of straw bales, and start raising your own rats. But it is still something different and fun to do.
that is for sure, Chablis tried barn hunt once. too much waiting around. too much noise to understand INSTRUCTIONS. He FOUND THE RAT is record time but marked the bail, so he was DQ , trials were interrupted to replace the bail he had marked. NO ONE was happy, and Mom got yelled at, so we never tried again. We stick to hunting chipmunks in our back yard.
Yeah, in the lower levels lots of dogs mark or poop in the ring. Novice and Open are easy but more than two rats without reward starts to get pretty tough after that. We will get it done, hopefully in Perry since they have barn hunt.
Madison is always watching over you
What a nice day! Glad you all enjoyed it and got to get a bit messy!! The snow is like that here for us too. Mom wore her sneakers yesterday and today for our walk — and do you know that today she slipped! After all these weeks of bad weather. She slid right down the sidewalk onto her bum. She wasn’t hurt at all-she hopped right up (and I helped by giving her kisses when she was on the ground!). She will be wearing her Merrells the rest of today. Gotta be careful all the time! Have a great day. your friend Chester
I’m glad you two had a good time and no doubt Madison is always watching over you all.
She pops up when we least expect it.
We aren’t fond of the whole “work now, treats later” thing either….

Mom says we need to trust her that we will get a jackpot after we find the four rats and leave the ring but it is hard to wait.
Guess most don’t like to wait for ‘treats’ ~ good for you doggies learning though and sweet photos of you on your walk with Mom ~ Hugs,

We are working hard on this concept but it is not our favorite thing.
You need to get paid quicker. I can see that. You’re all so talented.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the pups and a big hug to mom. ♥
In Barn Hunt you can’t be paid until you tunnel, climb, find the rats and then leave the ring. We are trying to grasp the concept but it is hard.
This is a nice walk. I hope you are both “willing to wait” on trial dates.
We hope to get spots in some barn hunt in April and finish up this level and probably not go further but we will see how it all goes. The walk was a lot of fun after hunting rats for an hour.
Sorry the treat delivery system was delayed. At least you were able to enjoy a nice walk, even if it meant getting wet and dirty.
Every day is wet and dirty these days so it doesn’t matter much. We are working on trusting that Mom will give us a jackpot after finding all four rats. Practice makes perfect and in our case believers.
