Nelson and I had successes at the Peach Blossom Cluster in Perry, Georgia last week. We also enjoyed being among a herd of GBGV’s since we never see any besides our family. Coursing was my new sport that I fell in love with too.
What is a Coursing Ability Test vs a FastCAT run?
- FastCAT is 100 yards in a straight line, CAT is a much longer course with several turns
- FastCAT you qualify if you finish, CAT you have to finish in under two minutes
- FastCAT is boring once you run a CAT test
Mom didn’t know if I would do CAT or not but she signed me up for four runs anyway. A dog needs three Q’s under two different judges to earn a title. The above is a map of the course I ran my four runs on. Wednesday I ran the course starting to the right and Thursday to the left for variety.
I started out at full speed and never slowed. It was so much fun and I learned I could cut corners to try to catch the lure and sometimes I was even in front of it. I had so much fun and Mom is so happy I loved my runs so much. The video above is my third and title run. A dog has a two run per day limit just like FastCAT.
Earning my CA Title was so much fun I could just keep chasing all day! I’m the first GBGV ever to earn a CAT Title. Being able to be the first is something no one else can ever take from me and I am lucky to have a lot of firsts in my sports career.
My ribbon is perfect for me as it is orange and we love that it has peaches on two of the ribbons. One had to let the club know if you might get a title and they even made a tag with my name, can’t see it but it is on the short tab! It is one of our all time favorite ribbons!
Nelson earned his second senior Q in Barn Hunt on the first day. Mom forgot to take a photo of him with his second place ribbon so he had her take one at the hotel. He is a bit sad he could not run CAT but with his knee issues, it would be far to dangerous and he doesn’t want to be injured.
Last but not least, I earned a Q in my second senior Barn Hunt run and earned me RATS, Barn Hunt Senior Title! Now my fancy name is: Ethos Loving The Northland SWM SWD RATS FCAT3 CA TKN CGC FDC ELT-P SMT L2C L2E L3V L3I ELT-S It sure is a happy Tuesday!
My GBGV Life is happy, so we’re joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!

Look at you go, Olivia, and now both of you have more beautiful and well-deserved ribbons for your room at home!
Nelson still needs one more Q to get his barn hunt title. Hopefully he can finish that later this month. I love my CAT title and hope to do more of those some day.
That looks like lots of fun!!!! And the ribbons are in your color! What a pawfect weekend you both had.
It was a good time and we had some nice successes.
WAHOO! Congrats o both of you!! We loved watching you chasing the lures….even with all the distracting noises!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
The motor running the lure is really loud and the highway was kind of loud but it didn’t bother me because I was completely focused on getting that lure!
Thank you for the video. I would have never understood it without the video. Since you caught the lure do you get extra points?
Mom had no idea how it worked either until I ran. We wanted to see it first but no one else was there yet, so I just ran and Mom had a quick lesson. We are not supposed to destroy the lure so even if I grab it at the end, I need to drop it. My job is to run fast and try to outsmart the lure to catch it. It is so much fun but really tiring.
Good for you, Olivia!!! Leading the GBGV sports pack as usual!!! So fun to watch your brain work!
I was totally wiped out Wed and Thurs night from racing and thinking in the morning, barn hunt thinking in the afternoon and then the seminar search. It is a good worn out, though.
Oh our goodness!! What a great trip. And that Coursing video. Wow! You were running so fast. and could we hear you barking? Mom wants to know how soundly did you sleep that night? Good work hounds!!! your friend Chester
I was zonked both nights I ran CAT as it is tiring but then I had barn hunt both days for mental workouts and one night I also did a search for the seminar Mom gave the club on nose work.
Amazing to be among all your distant kissin’ cuzzins. Congrats to you both on your conquest at Peach Blossoms Cluster…
Great photos too. I bet mom’s seminar was a big hit too of course with your help as show and tell
hugs cecilia
My search in the presentation was really something and it was fun for people to see what I can do. We had a great time and it was fun to see others that look like us all over the place as we never see anyone like us normally.
What a great day. Congratulations to you both.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the pups and a big hug to your wonderful mom. ♥
It was a super fun few days and we loved seeing others of our breed too!
Wow ~ Beautiful ribbons and much deserved by all ~ especially Mom ~ lol ~ Hugs ^_^

Mom likes them but we earn them and often it is a team effort.
Congratulations and you caught it! Good for you.
You always catch it at the end but I really want to catch it somewhere on the track.
Congratulations you two! Boy, that CAT think sure moves fast and sure changes directions quickly!
It is so much fun to chase that lure in CAT. Hopefully I will get to run more of them some day but they are hard to find.
Bravo on the new titles! Congratulations. My goodness your fancy name is quite a mouthful. 😂 Well done.
Yes, my fancy name is getting longer all the time but I like that. Sports stuff is so fun.
