I’m proud to be invited to the 2026 FastCAT Invitational but this year I have to pass. I ran OH so Fast in Ohio last year, I don’t want to scare away any other dogs who are invited!
This is my invite for this year. It is the second year I have been invited. The invitations are for the year prior, so the 2026 Invitational is based on dogs scores for 2025.
I retired from FastCAT two times last year, once when I earned my FCAT2 and then again after the Invitational. It sure would be fun to go again this year and there will be another GBGV there to compete against but Mom doesn’t want to risk my knees. I sure enjoyed my runs last year!
Being the only one in my breed I won all the fancy ribbons. Mom thinks it is nice if we all get a chance to run at least one Invitational in our career. Olivia and Madison ran in 2021 and had to compete against two other GBGVs. Olivia beat them paws down and won all the ribbons that year. Even Bailie got an invitation in 2023, but she had no desire to travel for a few runs so she never did get to compete. Next year, 2027, will be the first time since Olivia and Madison competed that no one in our home will be invited. Olivia and I are both thankful we had the experience, as it is something special.
Our hope is that some other GBGVs that run FastCAT will step up and go to the Invitational. It is a fun experience, and who doesn’t love to run really fast?

It’s always nice to be invited but you have to do what is right for you. The two of you will always be winners in our book!
If I went I would have one other GBGV to run against but it is a lot of time and money and Mom worries about my knees, so we are going to pass. I have had the experience once and that is all I need.

Watching others run is torture, but it is alright. I earned my FCAT2 Title and went to the Invitational last year, on to other sports.
I really enjoyed this. The invitation meant a lot, and you made the choice that felt right.
I have my FCAT titles and I got to go to the Invitational last year, so it will be fine. I will find other sports to do.
That invite is a Grand recognition of your achievement. Although another run might be fun, knowing when to move to concentrate on your other activities is good!
Mom likes the experience for us and I have that from last year, so I will move on and find other things to do, like more sniffing!

It would be a lot of money to go and since I went last year and am done with FCAT, I will pass, but in any case, it would be fun. I love running.
It is so awesome to just be invited…but being a girl with bad knees, we totally understand the need protect them.

When Mom found out what was wrong with me, you were the first thing that popped into Mom’s head. Thankfully doing all my exercises every morning for a year and a half now, I have a ton of muscle in my back legs and they are helping me keep my knees in place.

I did a lot of runs and got my FCAT2, I mean I really needed only one FCAT, so I’m way ahead and I got to go to the Invitational last year.
Nelson, I’m so glad you got to go last year. I am 99% sure that I am the only GBGV invite that is going this year. It will be my first time invitational. I’m glad you can’t make it, because you run faster than me so far, AND I WANT TO win!! Lydia ( I’m only 2.5 years old, so MAYBE I will keep getting better)
Mom says Olivia was pretty consistent after she turned two but 3-4 she ran her best times. You will enjoy it. Go for the experience and you know you will get pretty Q rosettes and the big best in breed ribbon. Your Mom will get the catalogue, a tote bag and a shirt, plus get to go home with the best GBGV at the Invitational. Poor Olivia and Madison had to compete against each other and one other GBGV at the 2021 Invitational. Olivia won, of course, she always wins stuff.

I have a lot of sniffing to do and that will be fine. I can just do my running in the yard.
I’m glad you got to do it but agree, blowing out a knee would mess with your nose work while you heal and it’s not worth the risk.
Mom says if we get to do it once and especially if we get to bring home the best in breed fancy ribbon we can stop. It is a lot of expense for a few seconds of running over a couple days too.
Way to give others a chance and saving your knees in the process. Well done, sweetie.
The rehab vet said straight running is alright but not corners and stuff. Still, I achieved all the goals for that sport, so why risk it.
