We are thankful for Gramma’s house, sort of. Back in July we got all new carpeting in our house. It was a real mess, but we all were home the whole time and in kennels or out in the yard. We didn’t have Henry yet. They scheduled the hardwood floor refinishing for two days this week but we had to be gone for that. What does Mom do with four dogs and no place to go? Gramma said we could stay at her house.
Mom took all of us for a nose work day on Monday and the plan was to be home again Tuesday night. Well, on the way to our nose work games, they called to say things were delayed and work would not start until Wed but we could then come home Wed after 6pm AND no dogs on the wood flooring until Friday night. Mom was so mad she practically ran off the road! To get to any door outside in our house you have to walk over the wood flooring.
So, now what? We stayed two nights at Gramma’s which is hard as she isn’t very flexible with things at her age and we have a senior and a puppy. Lots of kennel time and then it rained all day Tuesday.
Henry found some new toys that occupied him for a few minutes at a time. He has been crying a lot in the kennel but he can’t run around the house as it is not at all puppy proof.
Bailie has been stressed out. She doesn’t handle change well at all and it has been hard on her. Even back at home she has a new routine since we can’t be on the wood flooring until Friday night. Mom has to carry us outside whenever we need to go out.
With all the rain Tuesday, we all did lots of napping, nothing else going on.
By Wednesday, Nelson and I needed to wrestle. Gramma isn’t a fan of wild pants in the house.
I, being the nice guy, tried to cheer up poor Bailie but it didn’t help much.
We hope the floors are worth it as it has been a horrible inconvenience that we were not told about completely before this week. The above photo they sent us for Mom could see what was going on. Friday we have AKC Scent Work all day, so today is the last day of all this mess. Gramma is really a lifesaver as we don’t know where else we could go with all of us last minute. Had we known it was going to be pretty much all week, we would have rented a house in our area but it was too late. We feel bad bothering Gramma for three days but we are thankful she let us all stay with her.

What a disaster. I feel bad for everyone of you including mom and grandma. I hope everything is going back to normal today
Friday night things will be back to normal. We are back home but Mom has to carry us all over the house since we can’t go on the wood floors until tomorrow night. The goal is in sight but it seems like an eternity. At least the floors look great and Mom says she won’t have to do any flooring for another twenty years.
Gramma was a life saver and we thank her so much too♥
She said we were such good pups we could have stayed until tonight but Mom has to do things for the trial weekend that starts tomorrow and needs to be home to do that. We will survive, but it has been a really hard and rough week for us all.
House repairs are definitely upsetting for all. It’s really good you had someplace to stay while the worst of it was going on.
There is no way for us to be home when they do the wood floors as every door access is via the wood floors. 1 1/2 days more.
your gramma is wonderful… and I hope the floor will be great and pawfect for you… all fingers are crossed for that project
The floor looks great but right now it is a real pain mom carrying us all in and out of the house.
OMG what an inconvenience! Mom and I said to each other — those hounds worked hard to be good dogs this week! What champs. And hooray for Gramma!! (no wild pants in the house? oh dear!) We look forward to you getting home and back into routine soon. With beautiful new floors! your friend Chester
We are back home but Mom has to carry us in and out of the house since we can’t walk on the wood floors until tomorrow night. Mom can only wear socks on it, no shoes. It is not a fun week for any of us.
Grateful you had Grandma to help with your very difficult week ~ One more day and hopefully all goes well ~ Your and Mom are all troopers in my book ~ Hugs ^_^
Mom would have done things differently had she known that we would need to be gone for 4-5 days not just two. It has been a real challenge and no one is very happy.
Thank goodness for Gramma! It is sad how it seems getting work done around the house has become more and more difficult!
xoxo,
Rosy Sunny (and Beth)
It is really hard since wood floors are up to every door we have and we can’t go on wood floors.
That’s a wonderful thankful and I’m glad they are done. Contractors can sure throw a wrency in plans! Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It is not fun at all but we know it needed to be done. Just wish they would have said four or five days to start with so we would have found a place to rent for those days.
WHAT no prior K9 approval….I feel Mom’s frustration and pain
Grandma was so extra special and accommodating…give her a head bonk of thankyou from me.
Hugs cecilia
It’s been hard on all of us but at least we only have 1 1/2 days left.
Gramma to the rescue! Work at the house can be scary. Even if Gramma’s is different, at least it’s not scary.
Sloppy kisses,
Delilah
We have just lost our freedom that we are used to having for the whole week but tonight it will start to get better finally.
The best part about the whole thing is it’s over and you have the new flooring you needed.
We are happy it is done but the way the contractor never told us the truth about how it works will leave a bitter taste forever. You have to plan if you need to be gone with four dogs and we were not told we needed to be gone for for our five days until the day of. Done now, moving on.
So very sorry about they delay and inconvenience with the floors. We hope the wait will be totally worth it.
It was really, really awful and so very stressful for all of us. Mom is still fuming mad about it all. The floors look nice but I don’t think she will ever have them done again after this mess.
