I was off to rat school last night with my mom! Being my first class ever, I spiffed up and also read up a bit before heading out to class.
Not only did I feel like a real big boy going to school, I got to ride in the car with a seat belt for the first time. Until now I always have been in a crate. The seat belt lets me look out the window and be right behind Mom. I kind of like it now that I started to get used to it. In my crate in the back of the car, I can’t really see anything.
When we got to school, Mom set up my crate and put in my new blanket in my color blue with trucks and other guy stuff on it. She said she made if for me before I even came to live in my family. There are six of us in my class so I have to wait for my turn all the time. I think I am for sure the youngest one. Mom says our goal is for me to compete at the January trial. Dogs have to be six months old for barn hunt and I will be seven months in January.
The class started with us meeting a rat in a big plastic box with litter and a rat and a wire mesh top. Mom could not take good photos because she was busy helping me understand the rat is a good thing and will get me treats.
After that, we got to meet the rat in a square tube. I totally understood that nose to nose with the rat gets me treats. When I started to walk away, Mom said “rat” and I would go back and put my nose on the rat. Yes, I learned what rat means and Mom thinks that is super smart of me. We have two more classes and then Mom plans to rent the ring and teach me how to hunt for the rats in the straw bales, and to climb on them and go through the little tunnel. I’m excited as I do tend to really love learning and sports so far. Landing my forever home in a dog sports home is a true jackpot for me and I am super thankful for that.
PS: If you want to catch me doing some nose work, check out this video from about two weeks ago. I’m super crazy about nose work and thankful I get to practice almost every day!
My GBGV Life is joining Brian’s Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

You are so smart for one so young, Henry, and you are going to wins tons of ribbons and awards just like Olivia and Nelson in no time at all!
Mom is excited to see what I accomplish as I am very into all three sports I’m learning. It is a lot of fun using my nose for what it was made for!
He’s a winner!
