Meet My GBGV Life Founder, Emma!
If you are new to My GBGV Life you will find out it is all about fun, keeping dogs fit, eating healthy, and other useful dog topics. Emma was the founder of My GBGV Life. Sadly, she suddenly passed away on October 30, 2018 leaving her blogging empire to her GBGV sisters Bailie and Madison. Emma published her book, Tales of a French Scent Hound, in September 2013, you can get your copy in paperback or as an ebook at Amazon.com.
Debucher Baguette, a Grand Basset Griffon Vendeén, was a no frills kind of girl who preferred to go by Emma the GBGV. In case you wonder what GBGV really means, the Grand refers to our size in the whole group of BGV hounds, Basset refers to our shorter legs, Griffon to our coat, and Vendeén is the area of France where the breed originated – basically a French Scent Hound. You can find more about the GBGV breed here. The GBGV became fully recognized by the AKC in January 2018. There are still very few of us in the USA.
Emma was born on September 11, 2006 in England, to her doggie parents Debucher Yorrick and Debucher Prima Donna. Her daddy dog was adorable, looking a lot like Huckle Berry Hound.
When Emma was 9 weeks old her new mom flew to England to pick her up, she could not wait to meet Emma. Emma flew back to Germany with her new mom and was still small enough to fit under the seat. When she was about 10 months old, they packed up the family and moved to Minnesota in the USA. This time she had to fly in the cargo hold which was scary but she knew mom would find her once the plane landed.
Emma lived in Minnesota from July 2007, until she passed away. She had a great house with a decent sized fenced yard. Sadly, her wonderful big sister, Katie, a Kuvasz, born on June 27, 2002 in Pilsting, Germany, passed away on June 17, 2016. She still had a younger GBGV sister Bailie that was born on June 17, 2013 in New London, Missouri, and a second little GBGV sister, Madison who was born on August 10, 2016 also in New London, Mo. There are also two felines who were adopted in the fall of 2008 when Bert was about 3 and Sophie about 1 yr old.
Emma loved to have fun! She enjoyed getting all dirty and messy, hated to get groomed, loved watching, chasing and hunting squirrels, rabbits, and other small critters but most of all, enjoyed just being a wild and crazy girl with lots of mom snuggle time!
Emma was a well traveled GBGV. She visited five countries: Germany, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, USA, and eighteen states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin. Her dream was to make it to twenty five states, but her untimely death prevented that goal from being reached.
The idea Emma had for her blogging empire was to share her experiences with other GBGV people, and people that don’t yet know of the breed in the hopes of creating more attention to the GBGV as a great pet. Being a big dog health and fitness fan, Emma often barked about these topics as well. Follow My GBGV Life on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest to stay in touch!
