The last weekend in October was filled with nose work for Bailie and Madison at Afton Alps. Last week I told you about Bailie earning her NW2 title on Oct. 29, but Madison also competed. As you know if you follow me, I earned my NW1 Title (Nose Work Level 1 Title) July 18th. Since a title is earned by finding hidden odor, no photography is allowed except by NACSW photographers during the trial. The photos are now available and I wanted to share some of them with you. My face in the photo pretty much show how proud I am of myself with my nose work news that I am sharing today! As you may recall, I did pass my Birch and Anise ORTs, so I can compete in either odor, but a dog normally works with instructors for at least a year before competing. Bailie and I are both taking classes and she has passed her Birch ORT, but she is still young, and just has trouble focusing on the task at hand sometimes. I take my nose work very seriously and am getting pretty good at it as well as getting Mom to understand me when I tell her alert (I found it). [Read more…]
Today is the one year anniversary of the FitDog Friday blog hop. It seems like it has always been around, but I guess not. I think this blog hop has been one of the forces that has help me find a direction for my blog and I am thankful for that. This may come as a surprise, but I love to have fun and be silly. I enjoy helping other dogs stay healthy through my crazy, fun adventures and FitDog Friday is a great tool for me. For my family, fitness is fun and it is a lifestyle. Now and then I get an email or comment like this one from a reader:
Hey Emma, because of your blog, our mom has been working hard at walking us a lot more. She said you wrote that good long walks help make your day calmer and happier! It sure is making our days happier. Keep up the great writing!! Your doodle friends in sunny, somewhat warm (!) Colorado.
