Oh boy, I had quite a time again this year trying to come up with a poem for the Bad Poetry Contest hosted by my pal, Oz. Last year my entry was titled, simply, Emma’s Poem. It was about me, wabbits and squirrels. This year, I kind of stuck with the theme, but made the poem a bit longer and only about me and my wabbit habit. I had Bunny at my side for inspiration as well as some snacks. I can’t write without something to snack on! So, without further ado, I present to you:
Emma’s Wabbit Habit Poem
There once was a GBGV named Emma,
Who found herself in quite the dilemma.
She had made a serious habit,
Out of chasing wabbit.
When she gave chase,
The wabbit would race.
Emma was so fast,
The chase didn’t last.
A wabbit can’t flee
Up a tree,
And usually ends up in the jaws,
Of the GBGV with speedy paws.
Sorry wabbit friend,
This is how your life will end.
Stay away from my yard,
As I stand guard.
Don’t even arrive,
If you want to stay alive.
So, there you have it, my attempt at a bad poem. Thank you to Oz for hosting this Bad Poetry Blog Hop. This hop runs August 18-22, so you still have plenty of time to get a poem together. Don’t forget to vote for my poem by clicking the like under the thumbnail in the blog hop photos below. For more about the rules for entering and voting, click here.
Great poem!! We joke that any wildlife that comes into the back yard has a death wish 😉
Everyone says wabbits are dumb and the fact that they come in our yard pretty much proves that!
hahahaha… hope Roger Rabbit and Bugs Bunny will read it too! I like it that’s dog-poetry at its best!
Elmer Fudd needs to read it so he can hire me!
Great Poem Emma! I really like your creative writing studio (wiff inspiration and snacks!).
Got to go and read da next one. Have a grrrrrrrreat poetic day.
Wags,
Ranger
Thanks for reading. I’m going to go through the list later in the day.
Good one Emma!
Thank you.
BOL! That is hilarious, Emma! Oh, the poetry is pretty bad this year so far…I just love this contest! Chasing wabbits…
Oz
Hopefully it will be a horrible poetry week…it feels so wrong to say, but it is true!
Love our prom Emma You deserve to win first prize!
Thank you 🙂 Poems are hard to write!
Beautiful, most beautiful ode to dead wabbit. We so loved that Emma. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Ode to dead wabbit, love that!
Oh that’s the worst *big compliment intended*!
Super duper theme, chasing rabbits…but emma seriously do you really catch ’em? They ALWAYS get away from me, sneaking through bushes and out little holes in the fence. your pal, Toby
They rarely come in my yard anymore, I guess the wabbit news finally got the word out about me. Yes I do catch them. I’ve caught over twenty in the past few years. I’m excellent at it. I catch them in the winter in the snow too. It makes Mom sad, but it is what I do. I usually go out the door, grab it, break the neck, bring it back to Mom all in less than a minute. We are waiting for Bailie to capture her first one.
That’s a great poem, it’s not bad 🙂 Silly rabbits, they should know they don’t stand a chance against Emma.
Wabbits aren’t real smart which is a good thing for me 🙂
Emma, such a talent you have. Love the poem.
You mean hunting talent, poetry, or both??? 😉
LOL…That was bad, or good, or whatever.
It is confusing when good is bad or bad is good!
Emma, you’re so clever! You know what they always say, write about what you know and you know the chase!
Very true. I do know about wabbits!
Oh Emma, the poor wabbit! It’s a good poem, though! =)
I know, but I can’t help it, it is what I do.
WTG EMMA aPAWS and giving you a standing ovation…..that wabbit is in a jam!
Hugs
Madi, I am
Thanks. Wabbits have bad luck in my yard.
excellent poem, and watch out wabbit… here it is watch out rat, squirrels, ducks, coons and possums
I would be interested in the rat, squirrel, coon and possum too, but aside from squirrels, I don’t have those critters around my yard.
BOL you did a very good job
Lily & Edward
Thanks guys 😉
You think word would get around to avoid your backyard by now, but I guess not!
Actually, wabbit traffic has slowed drastically in my yard the past few years. I think the word is out and only new wabbits are dumb enough to mess with me. Now Bailie needs her first catch.
Some very tasty poetry indeed!
Well, I don’t eat what I catch, I just bring it to Mom and go on my way.
We think your poem is just perfect!
Thank you!
Bravo Emma, that was hopping good!
Thank you 🙂
Wheely bad habit of chasing those wabbits, Can’t say that its wrong, but just give me a kong – stuffed with cookies and peanut butter and pieces of leather thong.
Oh no, I wouldn’t stop chasing wabbits for anything!
Those Wabbits had better stay away from your yard!
They need to or they will be no more.
Apaws, apaws!
Thank you.
bravo bravo – paw claps too – what an excellent poem !
Thank you.
I am loving reading everyones bad poetry!!! haha! I loved it!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
There are some really good, bad poems!
EMMA this is the GREATEST Bad poem we have read in like 87 weeks. Bravo to YOU.
Thank you! I did my worst.
Great bad poem Emma! Wabbit Habit was inspiring. ♥ Your Basset, Bentley
I can inspire any dog to hunt wabbit!
Emma, you are the best dog poet I know! Have you ever caught a rabbit?
Mom has lost count, but somewhere over 20 in the past few years. I’m a real expert, but the word is out in the wabbit community and they rarely stop in my yard these days.
Dear Emma,
I have been thinking all day
Of what this PBGV should say.
We scent hounds have a habit
Of chasing many a pesky wabbit.
With your personal bunny and a snack
Your paws on the computer do attack.
Hope you are having a great day,
I wish I lived closer so that we could play.
XOXO, Sparkle the PBGV
That poem is awesome! Maybe you need to start a writing career as well 😉
Oh, poor wabbits! They best learn to stay away from your yard…Much love, The Scottie Mom.
I know, but I can’t help myself, it is in my genes.
I’s never caught a rabbit – yet. Da bassets did though.
I’ve caught over 20 so far, but lately, they avoid my yard…darn wabbits!
That’s a great poem Emma! Maybe you’d like to chase some of these wabbits out of my yard too.
I think I could make a living clearing wabbits from people’s yards! I’m good and quick.
That was an excellent bad poem. We are hopping around before casting our vote.
Millie & Walter
It’s all for fun, enjoy and have some fun reads!
Drat, Emma. I can’t believe you can catch those bushy-tailed rats. We had just too many trees…..
PeeEss: I love your really bad poem. Maybe I should consider one!
Wabbits are easy to catch, tree rats are tough, but I will get one some day, I just know it!
We are very impressed Emma! Poor wabbit! Love Dolly
Thanks. I know many are sad about the wabbits, but I can’t help myself.
Great poem Emma! Hmmm. Maybe Rita should write an Ode to a Squirrel…. 🙂
She should give it a wag, it is rather fun!
Pawsome poem, Emma! Good snacks definitely help when you need some writing fuel!
I always need snacks and Bunny to get my creative juices flowing.
Oh nos…. this is an awesome poem!
Why, thank you!
awesome, awesome not bad at all. Thank you so much Emma for your kind words you always leave me after I have a bad hunt test weekend. Good luck to you and your scent tests. To train for over a year to make sure you pass, I would be pushing the envelope like I am now and doing it way ahead of time. I’m glad your teacher thinks you can do it early, I know you can do it, your a smart doggie.
All we can do as dogs is try and try to train our humans to work correctly with us, but it is not always an easy task.
We Beaglebratz LOVE your bad poetry – wish we cood catch a wabbit. We Houndz seem tue haf a furry much narrow focus – drat thoze wascally wabbitz. You r lucky tue b able tue catch’em – we c them in our yard an;give chase butt they escape under the gate. All the little critterz around here seem tue know we Beaglebratz live here an’don’t come around much anymore – may-b u just haf sum dumb wabbitz.
Shiloh-Lord of the Manor an’Diva Shasta
I never let them get near the gate, I chase them down at high speed and in a matter of seconds they are no more. I love to hunt and as we hounds know, we can smell a wabbit a mile away so that helps me get a head start on those dastardly creatures!
Great poem Emma! We don’t have wabbits but we have lots of squirrels. We have never caught one thought. Guess we just aren’t fast enough:(
We have squirrels too, but they are tough because they climb trees. I will get one some day. I know I will!
That is a grrrrreat poem!!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Mayorz For All Paws
Thank you, I put my inner wabbit into it 😉
It’s bad, but in a really clever way!
It’s a bad, good poem.
We’re trying to find out who left their print on her side there. Have to talk to CBI.
Emma darling – you did great with a bad, good poem. Does that even make any sense?
These poems are really tricky for commenting!
I agree with Groovy, for a bad poem, it wasn’t really….too bad. 🙁 Still I hope you win!!
It is hard to know what to say, good or bad, main thing it is fun!
We think this is a wonderful poem (maybe cause wabbit is eaten in it!)
Well, I catch wabbits, but I don’t eat what I catch. I just bring them to my mom.
