Last Monday, we got a call from Gramma asking if we could come and help her out for the week. We had planned to spend Christmas Eve at her house, but this would be the whole week. I love visiting Gramma, so I packed up my most important belongings right away and I was ready to head to her house along with Mom, Katie and Bailie. It was going to be like a sleepover, just lots of nights. Mom, Katie, and I have stayed with Gramma lots of times, but it would be Bailie’s first sleepover at Gramma’s.
We arrived at Gramma’s European Style Cottage with a car packed to the gills! I think since we are all girls we brought too much stuff, plus all the Christmas gifts! It looked more like we were moving in rather than staying for a few days. Gramma had the front entry all decorated up for the holidays.
One of the best things at Gramma’s is the squeaky door cupboard with the never ending supply of dog treats! Early morning walks are another wonderful thing at Gramma’s! Katie and I had taken the different walks many times, but they were all firsts for Bailie. Since it was dark, the photo above was the best we could do. There is no better way to start the day than a nice, hour plus walk.
That first day was almost a disaster when I found Bailie had kidnapped Santa and was considering eating him alive! Yikes – and she made the nice list! For anyone that is interested, when we got back home the end of the week, we got our gifts. Bailie and I got new beds, and Kongs. All three of us got treats and a promise note for new collars. We were all really happy.
Cousin Bowie was thrilled to pieces to have his dog cousins spend a few days with him. He was so excited he spent half the time hiding under Gramma’s bed or in her closet. Bailie made it her mission to spend time with him which he so appreciated!
Half the fun of a sleepover is bedtime and this was no exception. We got to sleep way upstairs in the guest room with Mom. We had our own real comfy bed, complete with a teddy bear and we had wifi for my Ipad. It was like a five star hotel!
Katie spent most of the week snoozing either in the dining room or next to the kitchen. She had some kind of a tummy bug on Christmas and wasn’t feeling real well. She doesn’t come upstairs to where we were sleeping because it is too many stairs for her to climb and she is happier when she can keep an eye on the front door.
There was some trouble on Christmas Day. I found the old rawhide from like 257 B.C. and decided to just guard it all day. I had no interest in chewing on it. No one could go by me or near it without me beating them up. Bailie and I scuffled over it several times until Mom took the relic and threw it in the trash. I was sent to my bed for a time afterwards to think about my behavior. Mom says I can be a real stinker some times, but I don’t think she understands how important defending a relic like that is.
The best part of any time or sleepover at Gramma’s place is mealtime and this trip was no exception. Meals taste so much better when enjoyed at the table rather than being forced to eat like an animal on the floor! At Gramma’s house, I think anything goes!
Thanks for a fun sleepover week, Gramma!
I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
Wow!!! What a fun time you had at your Grandma’s!! You got to do lots of fun stuff and you looked so comfy in your very own bed!! xo Chloe and LadyBug
We had lots of fun, but it’s always good to be back home too! We were worn out!
that was a wonderful sleepover we sure hope Katie is feeling alll better now
She has her ups and downs but she is pretty happy most of the time and that is important.
What a great time you had. So nice of Bailey to keep your Cousin Bowie company while everypawdy was busy.
We don’t know why, but Gramma said Bowie is glad we are gone…maybe he doesn’t like us as much as we thought he did? Cats!
I hope Katie is feeling better. I am sure Grandma loved having your company and it sounded like you had a great time.
We were real helpful and she loves having us come and visit.
Sounds like you had a great Christmas Emma…with some fun and some mischief. Can’t wait to see your new collars!
We had a pretty good Christmas/week and of course, some mischief.
Can I come to Grandma’s with you next time? BOL I think Grandmas are for spoiling granddoggies…I know mine spoils me…but eating at the table? Oh, my Ma would never allow such sophisticated dining. sigh….I am so glad you had a fabulous holiday with your family, Emma.
Oz
We weren’t really supposed to do that, but it kind of happened, so Mom and Gramma let it slide by 😉 It was all part of the fun!
What a great sleep over! You certainly get spoiled at grammie’s – but that is what they are supposed to do to their grandchildren. Bet Bailie cannot wait to see Bowie again, and Bowie even more so! Sorry you lost your relic fossil Is Katie better? We had a BIG scare with Panda on Saturday and he was rushed to the emergency hospital. It seems his mast cell tumor was draining into his neck lymph nodes causing them to swell. The Mom was a pure mess. Panda is home and gets warm compresses on his neck. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
So sorry about Panda! How terribly scary that would be. Hope he is doing better now. Lots of love from the mom is always a good thing. Make sure and be nice to him.
I have been good to Panda, but I am out of control messing with his sister, Lyla. Their mom, Hollee, lets me know she IS the alpha in this house! Panda is doing as well as can be expected, and the mom treasures every day with him. She says he is that once in a lifetime special boy, and her eyes leak a lot when she thinks about him, hold him, and cuddles with him. Sparkle
My mom does lots of that with Katie on her bad days. She fell on the stairs the other day and it broke Mom’s heart. She tries to stay happy for her, though. One of Mom’s favorite quotes to live by is: Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, Thats why it’s called the Present.
What a fun time. Grandmas are the very best at spoiling, we must take advantage of that.
You have got that right!
What a fun week for everyone! But rawhides … tsk tsk tsk. Those are evil. Your mom was right to throw it away.
That is the last one we know of and I wanted to just guard it which caused lots of trouble for my furry behind.
Wow, Grandma’s house really looks like lots of fun!! I love that Bailie so selflessly chose to spend time with kitty!
I think she was doing it for her own entertainment more than to be nice to the cat.
Now that’s what I’m talking about Emma. You have one special Grandma!!!! Dinner at the table? You’re own bed? Who would want to go home?
We are really lucky, she is super nice to us and we all had lots of fun.
What a fun time at Grammas. We want to go to Grammmas
Lily & Edward
Grammas is always tons of fun.
My computer died in NJ, so just catching up now. I first have to say that I loved the Christmas card – Bailie stole the show with her corner. Nothing like a week with grandparents to get spoiled rotten!
That is awful if the computer died! That would ruin Christmas for my mom I think! Glad you enjoyed the card…naughty little Bailie didn’t get any coal, so she will continue in her ways I guess. Hope your Christmas was wonderful.
Wowoooowoooooo! You have a most pawesome Gramma!
After my mom, she is my biggest fan 🙂
wow that was a great time… even when we nearly had to look for a new Santa :o) do you know where your granny bought that cupboard with the never ending treats? I’ve got chicken feet from my granny, but only the smell is never ending said my momma, because I ate it in her bed :o)
My Grandpa built the house. I hear he was an animal lover, so he most likely built that cupboard with future granddogs in mind. Sadly he passed away before my time. I don’t think my mom would let me have chicken feet. She saw them all the time in Asia and found them disgusting 🙂
They are extremely disgusting and the smell is awful… but I love that feet… fortunately we have no mistle toe in my crib this year, think all girls would run away when I give them a stinky chicken foot kiss :o)
That sounds like a mighty fine time Emma!
It sure was!
what a fabulous time you had!!!! I sure wish I had a Gramma! Barks and licks and love, Dakota
I’ve only got one, but she is great!
You get to sit at the table! Wow Grandmas nice 🙂
We weren’t really supposed to do that, but it happened and she let it slide…Grammas 🙂
Wow! your Gramma’s place sounds like fun. I think that chew bone was definitely from a dinosaur! Did you think long and hard about your behavior? I always just sleep when my mom tells me to take a time out. Pfft! XXOO, Bentley
I pretended not to be phased by the reprimand and just took a nice nap. Can’t let Mom know it might have bothered me!
a cupboard with never ending treats!!! You lucky dogs!!!! What a great Christmas! From your doodle friends Dash and Lilly
It is the best cupboard and the fact that it squeaks when opened is so very practical as no one can get into it without us knowing.
I laughed my way all through this terrific post! You are so lucky to have such a Grr8 Granny! Next time invite us too, ok? We are green with envy!
Love & Biscuits,
Isis & Phoebe
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Glad you enjoyed it. We smiled through the whole week. I’m sure Gramma would let us bring some friends, not sure how cousin Bowie would feel about it, though.
WOW! Sounds and looks like loads of fun and relaxation!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It was a pawsome time!
What happens at Gramma’s stays at Gramma’s , right? It looks like you had a very good visit and that you all feel very at home there.
Katie, Mom and I lived there for four months when we came back from Germany, so we feel at home, and we also visit often!
I am really going to miss going to my grandma’s for sleepovers. Love Dolly
Oh Dolly, I’m so sorry. Mom says we need to cherish all the days and moments because the future is never certain. Today was my Grandpa’s birthday. He passed away before even Katie was born. Mom really misses him. He was a true animal lover and would have so loved my sisters and I. Poor Taffy is probably the most sad as she lost not only her mom but her home and has to start all over but she is lucky to have you and your family.
OMD OMD you gotted to go to a REAL Grandma’s House and 5 Star Hotel??? OMD we are pawsitively GREEN with Jellyness. What a great time you had. Except fur that Stealing of the RELIC episode… PEEPS can be SO CRUEL and THICK HEADED sometimes.
Can you imagine sending a dog like me to my bed to think about something! The nerve. Other than that bump in the bed, things were pawsome!
That looks like such a fun trip to Gramma’s!!
We had a great time, and I think Gramma enjoyed having us too.
Everything is better at Gramma’s! Looks like you all had fun–maybe even the cat!
–Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats.
Oh, Bowie loves us, but being a cat, he hates to admit it!
Um is it wrong if I want to go stay at your grammie’s too? You are precious. Now about guarding the relic… it’s just not going to win you any friends. LeeAnna at not afraid of color
That relic did stir up a lot of trouble which is why Mom put it in the trash, but I searched and searched for it for an entire day after she took it away. I only wanted to guard it, nothing more.
Guardin ancient chewies are an underapprecimatated job.
You understand me totally!
OOOOH what fun it is to go to grandma house! You are lucky dogs! We don’t have a grandma anymore.
Chablis & Lucy
We all love Gramma and are so happy to have one. Sadly, lots of dogs don’t have one. We wish we had a grandpa too, but he passed on many years ago, so we don’t know what that would have been like.
Oh my goodness, you have an amazing grandma to let you eat at the table.
Truthfully, we were not supposed to eat at the table, but it happened and Gramma just let it slide…gotta love Grammas!
What a fantastic sleep over. Wow, Bailey has never slept over before, I love the santa kidnapping photo.
Bailie has been to Florida twice and BlogPaws last year, but since she came to live with us, we haven’t spent the night at Gramma’s. She lives less than an hour away, so it is usually a day trip over there.
Looks like you all had A LOT of fun!!
We sure did, and when we got home we totally crashed out!
As always, awesome photos. Your posts always make me laugh. I bet your cousin Bowie was sad to see you go? lol
I think he was, but he doesn’t want anyone to know as it could be embarrassing for a cat! You know my blog has many purposes, one of the top ones it to make people happy by smiling and/or laughing, so it is great to hear I make you laugh…at my GBGV expense 😉
Emma, in defense of your mom, relics belong in reliquaries. Your mom wasn’t throwing your relic in the trash. She was preserving it in a reliquary. Look it up. 🙂
Wowzers! Big vocabulary for an 8 yr old dog. I will check on that term for sure. It would be sad to toss out such a piece of history in the trash. A reliquary would be much more fitting!
You cracked me up with your defense of the relic. That is a look I have seen so many times on Sampson’s face, it’s adorable. 🙂 I hope your Gramma is feeling better, I’m sorry to hear about her fall.
My mom doesn’t think it is so adorable, it makes her a bit mad at me and usually ends me up in troubled waters! Gramma is doing better, it will be a slow process, but she is tough.
Who doesn’t love Gramma’s house?! Looks like you are one spoiled grand-dog! 😉
Mom does tell me I’m spoiled rotten, but she says it is okay 😉
It sounds like you had a wonderful visit. Good thing Santa made it out alive!
That was a frightening moment, but he was lucky!
