Spring has sprung which means the humans are getting out their classic lawn games. What about the dog? Dogs love to be involved in games! Kurgo® realized dogs need to have some fun too, so they came up with a line of Classic Lawn Games for dogs.
Bailie is the official “toy tester” for My GBGV Life so I called her in to review these toys for me. She is also our purple girl, and with the toys being part purple, it was destiny! There are six Classic Lawn Games:
- Backyard Birdie™
- Wapple Ball™
- Tossing Disc™
- Doggie Darts™
- Huck-It Horseshoe™
- Target Jack™
I selected the first three toys on the list for Bailie to review.
Bailie started out with the Backyard Birdie, perfect for any bird loving dog. It was real easy to grip and she enjoyed running around with it her mouth.
The most fun was had with a racket. Just as with a badminton birdie, this birdie can be sent flying with a racket. Bailie really thought that was a lot of fun! We also learned, it bounces too.
What person didn’t have a Wiffle® Ball as a kid? The Wapple Ball is fashioned after the Wiffle ball.
The Wapple Ball bounces like a ball and is also easy for a dog to grab hold of. It is made out of chew friendly materials like all the Classic Lawn Games toys.
My sisters and I are not retrievers, and are not real good at catching things, but we do enjoy chasing after a ball as Bailie was doing with the Wapple Ball.
The Tossing Disc was Bailie’s favorite of the Classic Lawn Games. The Tossing Disc is a more dog friendly version of the Frisbee®.
Bailie and the Tossing Disc both sailed through the air with ease! The disc is made of tough material designed to withstand those chewing dogs chompers!
Prancing around the yard playing “catch me” with the Tossing Disc was also a favorite way to play with this toy!
Bailie finds the Classic Lawn Games she tested out to be super fun! My mom likes them too for several reasons:
- They are PVC, BPA, and Phthalate free
- All the toys are tough and chew friendly
- Non toxic
- All of them float if tossed in the water
- Amazingly, they are all dishwasher safe

Important FitDog Friday Announcement!
Next week will be the THREE year anniversary of the FitDog Friday Blog Hop. My GBGV Life, along with hosts SlimDoggy, and To Dog With Love have decided it’s time to retire the Hop. All sorts of fitness topics have been covered during the three years. We’re thankful for all the bloggers who have joined the Hop each week to share their fitness tips and experiences. We have been joining the hop since the beginning, and have been honored to be a cohost for the past year and a half. My GBGV Life will continue to post about health and fitness, and we hope you continue to visit our blog.
We invite you to join us next week for our final Hop! Please share with us what you’ve learned from the FitDog Friday Blog Hop.
What great lawn games. Awe… I’m sad the hop is ending. It seems hops are going away. Thanks for your year and half as co host.
It is sad, but I’m sure something new will be coming up to replace the hops as they are fading away.
Oh wow! Those toys look like so much fun! I bet the girls would really like them!
I’m sorry to see the Fit Dog Friday hop go! I really enjoyed reading the posts!
People are really moving away from hops these days. I know we only join a few here and there. It is sad, but we will all be posting the same kinds of things, just without the hop.
All those toys look like so much fun!
I am so sad to hear about the hop! I love participating each week! Thank you for being a host of such a wonderful hop for such a long time! :’-(
It’s been a great run, but all good things come to an end at some point. We’ll still be posting lots of fitness posts, so keep stopping by.
You are a good fetcher. When mom throws stuff we wait for her to get it
Lily & Edward
Bailie loves to run after stuff Mom throw, but then she grabs it and plays catch me. She doesn’t bring it back and has to be bribed to drop it.
What fun toys! Looks like you had a great time!
They are cool toys and we love the basic idea behind them.
FUN!! Bailie is an adorable model for fun activities. XOXO Sparkle
She really does well in her positions as My GBGV Life PR Dog and Toy Tester. She truly enjoys her work and it shows.
Those games look awesome! Congrats on a successful hop! Have a great weekend.
Sad it is dying but every good thing comes to an end at some point.
Those look so fun. What a great idea.
We love the concept and the toys are super fun. You can bat that birdie around with a racket all day!
Those games look like a lot of fun. Pierre would enjoy playing them. I follow most of the bloggers on FitDog Friday so I’ll still be enjoying the great content. ♥
Bentley, we are both a bit too mature for such game nonsense. We will sit on the sidelines, lap a bit of water from our bowls and watch the youngins play, right.
Oh that birdie game looks great… do you think it is a game for me too? I love to chase berds and maybe with this toy I have tons of fun too?
Yikes, I was looking at a different comment…you could easily love that birdie. It is a tough toy too…maybe it would last more than a day for you?
WeeeeeeOoooooo! Y’all sure know how to have a fun time!
Lots of fun activities equals lots of good food and treats later.
We think our Jakey would just love these!
Smileys!

Every family seems to have at least one pup who loves games and toys! They are really fun, for the humans too!
Those games look fun! Cricket would probably only like the Wapple ball. But I’d love to try the Backyard Birdie with Luke…we always played badminton growing up so it was one of my favorite games.
We’re sad about FitDog Friday ending! But I guess we hadn’t been participating as much lately; even though health and fitness are important to us.
It’s time for something new, and everyone can continue to post fitness posts whenever they like. The yard games are tons of fun, I know you crew would enjoy them.
Those toys look cool! Mr. N would prefer the ball… unless anything else came with squeakers! Sad to hear about the hop ending.
No squeakers, but the toys are still fun.
Hi Emma, looks like you had a great time! I’ll have to grab some of those toys for my pup!
The Classic Lawn Games are a blast. Your pup would love them.
They look like great, fun outdoor toys. When i was young I had “Tammy” a shepard, boxer mix. Tammy loved to play toss, retrieve, tug anything. Thats my last big outside dog that would retrieve. I bet a lot of dogs will have a great time 🙂
The good news is we don’t retrieve, but we still have a lot of fun with these toys.
How fun are those?!?! we LOVE the birdie!!
If it wasn’t so big, it could be a cat toy.
You look like you’re having great fun!
Bailie really likes the lawn toys.
Great post, Emma! My name is Robin and I’m the 13 year old author of the pet blog called Paw Province. For every person that joins my blog I’ll donate $3 to the D.R.E.A.M. Dachshund Rescue in North Georgia. If you haven’t already, you can become a member today, and please tell your friends to join, too! I have interviewed you for my blog before. Thanks! http://www.pawprovince.com
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll have to stop over to your blog.
This line was made for Charlie!!! We have difficulty playing yard games in our home because he tries to “participate.”
He would love these! I used to steal croquet balls and hoops when I was younger!
I can’t imagine you doing something like that! Charlie always goes after the Bocce balls and steals them!
Looks like some great back yard fun for Ducky! She loves her Kong Bounzer, though, so it may take some time. Shadow might enjoy the birdie as a fun alternative to the ChuckIt! ball.
I will miss the hop, too, even though we haven’t participated that much. I have enjoyed reading everyone else’s posts. But, like you said, all good things do come to an end at some point.
We will still be posting our fitness posts as we have in the past, just without the hop.
Bailey looks like she enjoyed reviewing these toys especially in the birdie photo, carrying it all proud and sweet. Nice job!
More than anything she loves to strut around with her toys and play you can’t catch me 🙂
