Here we are back on the topic of Madison and agility. I last posted about her agility career the beginning of December. One positive thing since then is she is in a class an hour earlier. Most every night, Madison goes to bed at 8:30, so when class started at 8:15, it was tough for her.
Madison still does her best work the first half of class. She is also a pretty smart little girl, which means if you ask her to do the course or practice something more than two times, it bores her and she will start looking for distractions.
If you follow us on Instagram, you may have seen Madison at the end of class back in January. She was worn out completely! Class clown is a designation she doesn’t seem to mind.
Mom had this video taken of Madison on her run Monday night. She has trouble getting started, but ran the course pretty well until the end when she took a short break. Madison did manage to get her speed up again for a good finish.
Why are Mom and Madison still doing agility? Madison loves going to class. She loves seeing her friends, kissing the boys, getting attention from her instructors, and she really does love running around the courses. Following directions seems to be her strong point, but they need to work on getting some more speed. Who knows? One day they may be able to enter a trial, but there is no rush as it is just for fun at this point. We have our other sports that are much more important.
Fun is the focal point sweet Madison, keep having fun!
And fun is never a problem for her!
That’s what puppyhood is all about – having fun and loving life!
Very true, but Mom says our entire lives should be that way if possible.
I agree with your Mom 100%, Emma!!
Steady as she goes! That walkover of hers cracks me up. Makes the learning process easier when you can laugh and enjoy the ride.
Since we don’t have any big aspirations, it makes it easy to have fun. She loves the sports that matter too, but she also does better at those. Our breed isn’t really cut out to be super agility dogs.
She is so cute. Just makes you laugh
She is definitely a little cutie and doesn’t mind being laughed at. The more attention she gets, the better.
it’s great to watch you madison… we also know this feeling when we have to do some things twice or even more… I have a new trick now for avoiding that… I smash myself on the ground and I pretend to be a pancake till the mama gives up ;O)
It gets boring doing things over and over. You and Madison like new challenges.
That’s the speed I run too, Emma.
Sorry, I meant Madison. Just not functioning well this morning.
If she would run an agility course at the speed she runs a track in tracking, it would be amazing, but we doubt it will happen.
I think it would be fun to do. If we were in a spot permanent I would have done it with Torrey.
Torrey is more the breed for agility, but any dog can do it, and obviously in their own way and style, LOL!
Good grief, disregard my previous comment were I forgot my own email address.
I would have done agility with Torrey, if we were in a permanent spot that had a place. Looks like so much fun.
It’s Friday, everyone has some brain trouble this time of the week!
fun is the important thing. GBGVs are not built for weave poles, so they have to make up time other places. Hey, she’s a “baby” she has time.
Funny thing is, she loves the weave poles and they are her best thing to run! Mom can’t get her to stop, she just turns around and does them again. Silly girl.
As long as you are having fun and getting some special mom time, you are winning!
LOVE that comment and I so agree!
call me crazy but I think she did a PAWESOME job!!!!! Loved that video! She did really well!
Well, she is slower than molasses in January compared to every other dog but she has fun. We are proud of her.
Little Madison is in her own happy, little world. π Love that baby! XOXO, Sparkle
Madison’s Agility World…coming soon on Neflix. You can find it under humor π
It does look like she’s having fun and that she enjoys being cheered on too! It was fun watching her!
If everyone cheers and calls out to her, she runs like the wind. If only the instructor cheers, she stops and thinks about running to them for some loving. It’s a delicate balance right now.
Wagnificient attitude Madison.
Stay in the moment & enjoy.
Pasitive energy?
Nose nudges,
CEO Olivia
She has fun, no worries about being the fastest, or taking a break. Purely doing what she feels like doing.
I think it’s great you keep on with it, like you said something fun for her to do even if she gets bored, great socialization. My gang gets bored quite quickly doing hunt test training stuff.
Madison is easily bored, but so is Mom, so she understands. They just enjoy doing what they can with agility and it is fun.
Sounds like Aspen, we always scheduled his obedience classes for after John got home from work (Aspen went to bed at 8:30-9:00.) While the teacher was explaining to everyone how to relax their puppies Aspen was laying down in front of me as I rubbed his neck.
Later when we’re we doing the physical work he was ready for bed at the end of class. Good luck Madison:)
It’s hard for mom too because she likes to get to bed by ten herself. It is a fun class. We take it week by week. No pressure to continue or quit.
Madison is still young too. I bet as she gets older and her maturity hits, she’ll settle in. For me, as long as we were having fun, I wasn’t too twixed if Delilah didn’t run it right. π
Madison usually runs the course correctly, but she is so slow and loves to stop and sniff along the way. Mom doesn’t expect a gold medal agility dog, so they just have fun.
I’m watching a star in the making….
She is definitely a star in the making. Madison has made a lot of progress.
