The Barn Hunt Open Title was pretty much an open race this weekend. My clown sisters, Bailie and Madison, each wanted to achieve that next title first. You may remember back in March, Bailie earned her Novice Title first, but after that trial, both of them were in Open. Who got that title first?
They attended the Bales and Tales Summer Solstice Barn Hunt Trial this past weekend. Both of them had four chances to earn an Open Title.
After earning their Novice Titles in March and starting in Open, they ended that weekend with Bailie having one Open leg, and Madison two. A dog needs three legs for a title.
Saturday morning, Bailie started the day earning her second leg in Open. The pressure was on for Madison, but she was unable to get that third leg. Madison did an amazing job, but Mom decided to get in the mix and messed it up with the second rat. This put them each at two legs for the afternoon trials.
Bailie was up first again in the afternoon, but the day was very long, and motivation was totally lacking. She would not do much of anything in the ring, and wanted to go home. This left the door wide open for Madison to be the winner. Madison went in with the same determination she had before, and Mom let Madison do the work this time. Congratulations to Madison who earned her Barn Hunt Open Title first! She did a great job, also got second in her class, had a blast, and is the winner! Her name is now Ethos Intel Inside CGC TD RATO
Madison is now competing in Senior where she has to find four rats in three and a half minutes. She did great finding the rats in both her trials Sunday, but she only told Mom about one each time. More training is needed, but we are all proud of her earning the first Open title in the family, and she is not even two yet!

Way to go Madison – a rat hunting maniac !
I think she is simply a maniac, but a cute and fun one!
Oh congrats to you sweet Madison and you did darn good too sweet Bailie!
Madison was amazing, Bailie, not really in the mood.
Congratulations. Sounds like zMadison loves rat hunting, Bailie not so much!
Bailie can be moody in all her sports. She needs rat refresher training and then she is really into it. 3 months with no rats and she forgets all about it.
cong-RATS to the fearless hunter girls!!! oh how we wish to enter such an event… but we dont have such things here… that’s rats too ;O)
Have your handy dad build a boat so you can sail over here!
That Madison!! She’s super!! Glad Bailie had fun too. And Bailie, we understand that when you want to go home…well thats all you can think about sometimes. Madison!! Whats next for this little champion! And more inspirational swag for your moms office!! your doodle friend Dash
Yes, our walls will be a touch smaller again! Bailie needs some more rat classes to remember the point of the game. Madison is just enjoying the hunting aspect.
Congrats!!!! That’s fantastic.
We are all proud of the little one.
GREAT JOB MADISON! Mom, too, for not “mixing it up” and letting the little one do her thing! ❤️❤️???
It’s tough for humans to totally rely on their dog, but it must happen in dog driven sports.
Great job Madison. Me, Benjamin, really not that into finding rats in hay so I just leave that to my bro Zachary.
I’m with you…not a fan of rat hunting but my sisters seem to find it fun, especially Madison.
Congratulations Madison! Bailie, I know how you feel when you just want to go home. There’s always a next time.
Mom will find more practice opportunities for us next time before we trial. That will help.
She’s a little go-getter that one. You best watch out, Emma, she’ll be writing the blog before you can say barn hunt. 🙂
Congrats to Bailie on her second leg, and to Madison on her title, and of course to Mom, because none of this would be possible without her.
Thank you. Madison is a magical pup. She walks into any space and takes it over immediately. Everyone wants to be her friend, and she is super confident too.
So close, way to go Madison, congrats!
Mom was hoping they would both get it in the same trial, but it was not to be.
Yeah Madison! Sisters can be so competitive!
These two are competitive, but in sports, it is in a fun way.
Woo Hoo! We need to share this on our sports next week! Congratulations ♥
Madison says that would be pawsome!
Congratulations to Madison and Mom!! She is definitely a little overachiever. Bailie made progress too, so good job by her as well!
She is a real smart girl and really enjoys doing her sports.
Sounds like a very exciting(and tiring) weekend girls…good job!!
xoxo,
Rosy, Arty & Jakey
Mom and my sisters were pretty worn out after two whole days of hunting for rats!
Great job Madison you got in there and didn’t stop until you got the job done. Congratulations on your new title:)
Thank you. Madison is real good at barn hunt, and just loves it.
Congrats! Rye is going to enter her first Barn Hunt trial in the fall!
That is great! Hope you are able to practice a time or two before the event. It makes a huge difference!
