Apaws, apaws for the first agility title in our family earned by Madison last weekend! We are super proud of her, and of Mom’s determination. Last winter they contemplated quitting agility class, but then Madison started getting interested. At the first trial, Madison wouldn’t do her weaves, but Mom stuck with it, and after just two trials she earned her first title!
The trial was held about half an hour from our house at Fusion. Mom and Madison went there a week prior to the trial to practice, but it still didn’t help the weave issue in trials. They are still working on that, but it seems to be getting better. There was snow Sunday morning, which was a good omen for a successful day! We are snow lovers.
In AKC Agility, a dog needs three qualifying runs to earn a title. Madison got one qualifying run at the trial in September. Last Saturday, she finally started doing her weaves and got her second qualifying run, and a first place.
Sunday was the last chance for a title in jumpers. Madison stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the agility ring. She was the last dog of the entire weekend to run, but it didn’t stop her from completing the course, and earning her Novice Jumpers With Weaves Preferred Title. She took a quick photo with Mom and the judge, since they were instrumental in earning her title.
Madison was quite proud of her accomplishment as you can see in the photo. She knew she was a super good girl, and she has learned that wearing ribbons seems to really make Mom happy too.
This is the video of her third qualifying run. She is getting tired from three days of agility, but she is still making an effort. There were over nine seconds of time left which is huge for her.
Meanwhile, back home, Madison was being a bit shy about her new found agility fame. Not bad for the worst pup in agility foundations class for over a year, to now being in intermediate agility class, and having a first title with two first, and one second place qualifying runs. Madison’s name is now getting a bit longer too, Ethos Intel Inside TD RATO NJP CGC.
That my friends was weekend six of our eleven weekends of dog sports in a row. So far every weekend has had some successes. Madison will be back on the agility course this weekend, but only two days. Mom decided three is too much right now. Hopefully she can get some qualifying legs in Novice Standard and Open Jumpers With Weaves. Go Madison Go!
Outstanding work Madison!!!
She is a real good worker. Mom is very proud of her. Now, will Mom be able to remember the course in the next level??? Oh boy!
That is awesome MAdison!!!
We are very proud of her.
Bravo Madison… you are the super star!!! no wonder that they named a park in NY after you ;O)
LOL! That is true! She is a real sports hound.
Way to go Madison!!
Madison is real happy with herself, and so is the whole family.
Way to be pawsome, Madison!! Good luck this weekend.
Thank you. This weekend she can only get some legs, no titles, but we hope she will get a couple. We’ll see how the weaves work out.
Don’t tell Madison, but I kinda giggled at her thoroughness in the weave poles. Clever girl though – well done Madison!
She usually starts and speeds up, but with her not wanting to do them at all in trials, we were thrilled she made it through at all!
Nice job, Madison! Congratulations to you and Mom for sticking it out! We had to chuckle a little bit about how pokey you were for part of it, but you got it done and showed us!! β₯
We are hounds so a lot of things we do in sports are not like the typical dogs in those sports but we do it our way and get it done. It was also the last of three days, so Madison was getting tired. At least she did it and had time to spare!
How very wonderful, congrats sweet Madison, we’re all thrilled and so proud of you…and the Mom too!
Now in the new level, we start worrying about Mom getting lost on the course. Her sense of direction is not the best, but she will try hard not to let Madison down.
Yay Madison! We’re going to be in Open JWW forever–we keep getting two refusals because of the weaves on those courses. We just moved up to Excellent for Standard, though, so obviously she knows how to do the weaves sometimes π I’m impressed you did three days! We’ve never done more than 2–but for Rye’s adoption anniversary next month, we’re doing our first 3-day trial. I decided we’d only do the FAST run on Friday, though, so it won’t be as much running as it could be.
Not sure we will ever try FAST, for obvious reasons, but never say never. Hopefully with more and more trials, Madison will do trial weaves like any other weaves. 3 days is a lot, so I think 2 will be much better. This weekend, team Madison is hoping for some legs in novice standard, but who knows how it will all go. They will have fun running around no matter what. Congratulations on moving to Excellent Standard.
Yay Madison!!! (and Mom too!!) that is one pawesome accomplishment!!!
We are very proud of team Madison. A short long hound is doing big things.
Many fully-throated canine-grats to Madison! Bravo.
Thank you. She appreciates those canine congratulations.
Way to go Madison and you look good in blue.
She is doing really well, and we are proud of her.
Congratulations Madison and your Mom!!!
Thank you. We are all so proud of our little sister.
Woot! Woot!
Go Madison!!

She is getting better every trial. I think all the trial experience is very helpful.
Wow, congratulations, Madison and Mom!!!!! I am so impressed with your team work!
Thank you. They had another good weekend with 2 legs in novice standard for Madison. They are learning to work as a team, having fun, and success.
Great job!! It’s such a feeling of accomplishment for both Madison and mom. Perseverance pays off!
Their team is busy building confidence in all their sports.
