A customized car shade is just what we need to add to our arsenal to stay cool in the car at our dog sports trials! Not only will it help keep us cool, it may even help stressed out people relax and laugh for a moment or two! We have our aluminet car cover and our fans, but the cover isn’t long enough to cover the front and back windows. Our new sun shade will eliminate the problem by covering the windshield. Mom won’t have to move the cover as the sun moves anymore.
The Customized Car Shade Idea
Have you see the fun car shades online? They pop up in our Facebook feed a lot, but they never have a GBGV available. When you are a rare breed and you want to be on some item you need to be creative, so I put the idea in my own paws and coordinated the project with my mom.
The Pieces For The Shade
Believe it or not, the biggest challenge is a car photo. Mom looked at stock photos but to find the right one in a large enough size was very expensive. She determined she needed a car shot from the front hood looking into the car, but the windshield would need to be removed. A tall order, right? Thankfully, when she went to the junkyard with my sisters, she found one, and only one car that would work, and it is perfect! They call it the Beverly Hills car because it is a rusted junker that is silly.
Next up, we girls need to be just right for this creation. We set up a photo studio with natural light to take all our photos one after another so the lighting and any shadowing would be the same. I started because it is my idea and I would be the driver. Note how my paws are on a box? The background is all white to make cutting me out easy, and the paws will also be easy to place on the steering wheel since they are up and positioned on the box that will be removed.
Madison was next to get her photo done. Note how we all have berets because we are French hounds, matching bandanas in our own color, and my sisters also have sunglasses in their colors. I wore my driving glasses because I take my driving very seriously.
Olivia was a problem child. She refused to sit on the white paper because it was slippery, so we put down a towel. She was supposed to hold a toy in her mouth, but she refused to do that too. At least we finally get a half was decent shot of her. Normally she is very cooperative for photos, but not on that day!
Finally, we had to have our stuffed rabbit in the car with us. Since Olivia would not hold onto it, we propped him up so he could be hanging over the seat back in the photo.
The End Result
This whole project would not have been possible if my mom’s cousin wasn’t a Photoshop pro! Julie can do anything with Photoshop and she agreed to put our photo for the customized car shade together for us. She did a portrait for Mom before and she has her own photo business too. The photo she came up with is absolutely perfect! Doesn’t she do an amazing job?
Mom googled car sun shades to find one that would put our photo on a shade. We sent in our photo, paid for it, and had it at our door about a week later! It’s hard to photograph it in the car because the glass does weird reflection stuff in photos, but the one we have here isn’t too bad. This weekend we will be using it for the first time and can’t wait! What do you think, do you like our customized car shade? For sure people will know who is in our car at the trial!
