More Detective Qs for me, Mr. Nelson after last weekend. I had two. One needs ten for the title. My goal is to earn the title in 2025. Mom put me in four searches, two on Saturday, two on Sunday. Saturday didn’t go so well, but Sunday was a winner! This cabin behind me is part of my first search on Sunday. Since it is cute I posed with my two Q ribbons in front of it.
The trial was held at Pioneer Village which is a lot like where we trialed in Michigan in April, only a lot smaller. It is super fun to search all these old homes and businesses. In my first search I found all the hides but Mom insisted we find more and she earned us a no. Over both days, I found twenty five of the twenty six hides and earned two qualifying scores. Now I need six more for my Detective Title. Since these places are very old, they are also quite dark which means videos were not the best. I do have the one in this post that is not too bad.
Mom did video the second search on the first day where I missed one hide in the church. It was both my fault and Mom’s as we never went down the middle aisle of the church where the hide was on a pew. The photo above is the outside of the church where I started my search.
There was a grassy area between the church and the school that I also searched. It is a one room school. For the two buildings and exterior area we had eight minutes and there would be five to ten hides to find.
As you can see I am off and running right away. I did an awesome job finding all but the one hide. There are so many things in the church and school but my nose knows where odor is coming from so I don’t have to sniff every single thing. Mom and I had so much fun in all four searches! Our goal was two Detective Qs minimum and we achieved that without any problem on day two. Team Lime Green is getting better and better and having more and more fun searching. We can’t wait to do more scent work in two weeks.

No brats, thank dog! It is super fun but Mom said it was all musty smelly from all the “old” in the buildings. I enjoyed doing my job and even found a hide in a prison cell without getting locked in.

Detective is tough, and Mom was totally impressed with how well I worked and did. Hopefully I will have a good run at my next set of Detective searches in two weeks.

We always love the videos!! Here are our questions: sometimes does your mom say “alert” and there isn’t a hide? Does she give you a treat anyway? Does the word alert mean treat to you now? If someone says it to you when you aren’t doing a search do you think “treat!” And didn’t that wheelie thing you had to jump on scare you? You are so brave and so curious! Thank you so much Chester. We all know what “alert” means but if the judge says no, then when we ask for a snack Mom says no, go find it. We never are rewarded for a bad call. I also get lots of different snacks on the way back to the car, yummy! I don’t think we react to the work Alert unless we are searching as we know the difference between work and daily life. Mom saw the red well pump and immediately thought there could be a hide there. Since I was a bit timid about touching it, she did tell me I could put my feeties up and I did while looking at the handle which was out of my reach but where the hide was. That thing moved and it did scare me, but we got the hide and that is what counts. The more curious a dog is, the better as we are trying to get as close to a hide as we can.Have a Happy Tuesday!

It was super interesting seeing and sniffing all that old stuff. Besides finding the hides, I smelled a lot of old musty smells, LOL.

Thank you. The church had members that passed away in the Titanic…how midwest farmers got to the titanic we don’t know, but there is a list of them in the church. Fun places to search, definitely.
