It’s hodge podge Friday time! Our week was a real mix of different things which is why we decided to make a mixed post for today. Being out in the leaves running around is definitely a big part of our week. All three of us spent plenty of time in the leaves.
Bailie took it easy and enjoyed some leaf sniffing in the sunshine.
Olivia likes to run just like I do. The first part of the week was super nice to be outside in the yard playing around.
Our food supply was getting low, so Mom ordered up four hundred pounds of food. Since it is an hour drive each way, usually one of us rides along to keep Mom company and to supervise the food. Olivia had the honors this week. When Mom had only two of the trays loaded, Olivia started to get hungry.
Mom loaded up the six blue trays next and a couple tubes of tripe and that was it. Olivia still was watching but trying not to be seen. At home, Mom had to pack it all up and get it into our freezers on her own as we were busy in the yard.
Earlier in the week we did some barn hunt practice. Olivia and I had an hour on Saturday and another hour Tuesday. We are hoping to train once a week or so for the coming weeks so we can enter the next trial and maybe get our Senior Titles wrapped up. I was sniffing out a rat in this photo.
“Mom, stop taking photos and pay me for finding this rat!” She seems to have missed the sense of urgency on this one. Note the straw likes to get stuck in our furs.
Olivia too was sniffing a rat. Rewarding a dog in the ring is not allowed in barn hunt which is our problem. Mom is trying to teach us to find the four rats without being rewarded until we leave the ring. Whether we decide to do that or not is yet to be seen but we are practicing it.
Oh look! Olivia found a rat too! Hopefully we can grasp the concept Mom is trying to teach us and then we could finish up our barn hunt titles in January.

No rewards is no fun!
It makes it hard for us to keep working since all the other things we do we get rewarded immediately for our work. Mom says we can learn how this works and do well, but we shall see.
Patience for delayed rewards is very, very hard! But, you’ll get it.
It is possible according to Mom but we have to really work at it because we are used to being paid immediately for our work.

We have two freezers in the garage. She bought the smaller one first when we started with Dr. Harveys food adding our own protein and then when we switched to all raw, she bought a big one. They are both filled to the brim now. The food will last us four to five months.
I don’t know….waiting for to find all the rats before being paid would be hard for us too!!

We had a lot of leaves but since Mom mulched them we don’t have as many. Being expected to work and get paid later is not a concept we embrace but Mom says we will figure it out and not mind in when we practice enough.
You had a very busy week but it all seemed like fun!
Lots going on and Mom is trying to catch up on everything that she hasn’t been home to do in about two months. Lots of work around the old homestead.

I love seeing your week and yes, I am confident you two are smart enough to learn you are rewarded at the end in barn hunt events.
It is hard to understand why we have to wait but Mom is going to work on it with us in the coming weeks.

We love our healthy food and treats and know we are super lucky to have them.
Oh my heavens, looks like you guys had quite the week. That’s a ton of food-hope it gets you all through the winter. Love the expectant look on your faces after you found those rats. Good job!
The 400 lbs of food lasts 4-5 months which is good. Now we have to work more on finding rats and waiting for our reward.
