Welcome to my window to the world. You know what they say? When the door closes, open a window. I am a firm believer in open windows! A girl never knows when the next wabbit will pass by! [Read more…]
Today is a special day for me! Do you know why? I’m happy to tell you! On this day, eleven years ago, I left my GBGV parents and my breeder to meet my Mom and fly the coop over to Germany! That morning on Nov. 13, 2006, I had no idea when I woke up that my life was about to change forever. [Read more…]
Oh my dog, My GBGV Life is starting its seventh year! I can’t believe I have been blogging since Nov. 8, 2011 with my first post, “How it all began!”, that is over half my lifetime! I still remember achieving the first year or two and marveling at those who had been blogging for five years or more and I am more than there myself! Who knew when I had the idea to start this blog what would actually become of it all! For this special occasion, I thought I would share some fun details about My GBGV Life. [Read more…]
I was up to my ears in leaves in Sherwood Forest over the weekend. It is a real problem for short long eared hounds in the forest! What is a dog to do? [Read more…]
I ordered a tug-a-jug dog toy for my sisters to try out this month. They both enjoy puzzle toys that dispense food or treats, which is why I figured they would enjoy this product. I don’t like food or treat puzzles, so it is all for my sisters! [Read more…]
November is a month to give thanks. Remember, being happy doesn’t make one thankful, but being thankful does make one happy! [Read more…]
Happy Howl-O-Ween to everyone today! My sisters and I thought long and hard about our costumes this year and are ready to show the world what we came up with. We don’t like scary things, so no worries, they are not going to scare anyone. [Read more…]
It was another day at the pumpkin patch for Bailie and Madison earlier this week. Mom says they are a bit too wild to go to the finer places where I get to go. They went to the patch where Mom has taken us for a good five years now. It was a windy day, which means the scent hounds had their noses busy air scenting most of the time. Madison went last year which was her first Halloween. [Read more…]
Dogs are great and I have
a million five reasons why dogs are great! Mom is always so thankful she has us furry friends to hang out with everyday for so many different reasons. I really put my thinking cap on to narrow my list down to only five!
5 Reasons Dogs Are Great
1. Dogs Provide Unconditional Love
We dogs love our humans. It doesn’t matter if they are mad at us, in a sad mood, happy, or whatever they are feeling, we love you! Many of us love to snuggle up, lick tears off faces, just be there at your feet when you need us. Who else do you know that greets you at the door when you were gone for two minutes as if you had been gone for two years? We love you no matter what and always want to be with you. Well, maybe I would rather chase a wabbit sometimes, but I will come back really fast.
2. Dogs Bring Happiness
Dogs bring happiness. Have you ever tried to really be angry with a dog or frown at a dog for more than a few minutes? It is nearly impossible. We have the look that will melt your heart and bring everything in the world back to happy. A dog has the power to give humans that warm, fuzzy feeling they crave.
3. Dogs Are Great Stress Relievers
Studies have shown that petting or holding a dog can release stress as well as lower blood pressure in humans. I know when Mom is stressed with work, she takes a short break to hang out with my sisters and me to get herself back into balance. At our nose work trials, Mom is always a stressed out mess. At the start line and at each find, she snuggles with us, not only to help us focus and know we did good, but it helps her relax. You will see her and Bailie huggling while waiting for their searches. It works for us!
4. Dogs Are The Best Workout Buddies
Sure, you can workout on your own, but I would bet you stick with your program longer if you are not alone! What dog ever said, “I can’t walk this morning because I’d rather stay in bed.”? No dog that I know of. We are always there, ready to walk, run, hike, whatever kind of exercise you would like to do. If walking and running are your thing, we are there to offer a layer of protection as people with a dog are less likely to be attacked. Criminals don’t like to mess with dogs.
5. Dogs Are Not Cats
Sorry, Kitty, but you need to move over. Mom loves her kitties, but they always put themselves first. They can’t do sports, and they really do what they want, not what the human wants. Dogs will put the needs of their human first and will do almost anything for their own human. Mom likes to have dogs and cats because cats are good for sitting on her lap, but for everyday activities she is thankful for us dogs. Kitties have their own different spot in Mom’s life.
Those are my top five reasons why dogs are great. My mom says she can’t imagine ever living without a dog at this point in her life. The more dogs the better is her thinking, but our city has a legal limit of three. She loves me so much, and we do as much stuff together as we can, including silly selfies! What would you say makes dogs so great?
Close your eyes
Squeeze them tight
Make a wish
With all your might!
