I’m a really lucky pup because I have an awesome pet parent mom that I adore and she loves me back just as much as I love her! All of us doggies are the best dogs ever and we all deserve the best pet parent ever. What if I didn’t have a pet parent? What would I say in a classified ad to find a pet parent that would be the best pet parent ever?
For me, the best dog ever, I have four top priorities in life that need to be fulfilled by my perfect pet parent:
- Getting lots of loving from my mom – GBGV’s are an affectionate breed. My sister Bailie and I love to hug Mom and give kisses. I definitely have to have a pet parent that can handle tons of hugs and snuggles…what we affectionately call “huggles” at our house.
- Plenty of made in the USA dog food and snacks – Healthy food is so very important! Merrick Pet Care provides 125 dog and cat food and pet treat recipes including grain free recipes. Merrick recipes are sourced locally with farm fresh ingredients to ensure the highest quality. Recipes are made in their own five-star kitchen and manufacturing facilities that uphold the strict guidelines well defined by the FDA. Merrick does not use any ingredients from China!
- Fun activities and exercise – I love to be an active dog as it is fun, helps with pet/pet parent bonding, and keeps me healthy. At this point, I am not interested in a grain free dog food, but a high protein dog food is something I would like. Merrick sent me my own bag of Classic Real Chicken with Brown Rice & Green Pea recipe. It is made with high quality protein, whole grains, vegetables and fruits. This Merrick recipe uses USDA-inspected deboned chicken as the first ingredient with amino acids necessary for building muscle and a healthy metabolism. The protein rich Merrick Adult Recipe contains 60% poultry and fish proteins 20% fresh produce and 20% whole grains ingredients which yield 30% protein in each meal.
- Chasing and catching wabbits – Wabbits seem to appear all over the USA, so no matter where I might live, I should be able to find plenty of them.
So what would I put in a classified ad looking for the best pet parent?

Morning, so glad i got to get some love from you last week. Hope I will be the winner of your contest. If I were lucky enough to win, I’ll donate the food to a small rescue I foster for. They could really use some good tasting , healthy food .
It was great meeting you! Paws crossed that you win for the shelter pups. It is tasty food…I have given it a try.
Wow we got stuck at the chasing wabbits. We could think of nothing better apart from squirrels that is. Good four top tips on perfect pet parents. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
It was hard for me to keep writing after putting down the wabbit thing too 😉
You all have the best pet parent! Have a great day.
I think so, but I think most pets think that if they are lucky enough to have a nice family.
I have been feeding my dogs Merrick food for several years. They love it and they both are very healthy. They love the lamb and brown rice. There are no wabbits in the yard, but squirrel chasing is a top priority.
We are considering switching me to this food if it agrees with me. I love squirrels too, but wabbits are number one as I can catch them easily.
My pawsome pet loves Merrick’s bone treats!
I haven’t tried those…I will have to get some at my store up the street and try them out.
You have the best pet parent, I’m sure Emma. I could eat the screen wihen I see your tasty food. Good luck to all pups! Have a great wednesday!
I bet you have a best parent too 😉 Don’t eat your screen, though, or you won’t be able to read blog posts anymore.
Oh you’re right :o) at least the screen has 0 calories :o)
Your dog is so adorable, my dog chases squirrels instead of wabbits lol. I will give Merrick dog treats a try. I have been scared of feeding my dog dog treats for some time due to all the bad media out there. Good thing to know Merrick is US based.
We are picky about treats. We only buy and/or review treats that we feel are safe, made in the USA. No need to take a risk for a treat.
That’s awesome to be snuggled and loved. Funny, we call them huggles too. LOL Must be a real word.
LOL! Didn’t know anyone else had huggles. Bailie is a serial huggler and did almost over huggle a few folks at BlogPaws.
UGH! U.S only!!!
Great stuff though! Good luck to all who enters! We feed Merricks to our kitties, it’s great stuff!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Sorry about that. It is tasty food 🙂
Bravo, Emma! What a great post by the best dog ever about finding the perfect pet parent! And just look at that delicious bag of food by Merrick! I think it is bigger than me. BOL!
*high paws & Cairn cuddles*
Oz
Thank you, Oz! The bag is about the same size and weight as I am and it is yummy stuff too!
You have a great mommy, and I have a great mommy! Life is good. Sparkle the PBGV
Moms make the world go around…at least my world!
Wyatt and I love all the Merrick wet foods!
We rarely get wet food. Mom likes us to have the dry stuff but it is good too.
Eat, play, love, adventure – you covered all the most important parts of life! Well, and sleep of course.
Sleep is a given…humans love sleeping so that is not a big deal 🙂 I tried to hit the big ones in a short amount of words
Photos crack me up – love the glasses!
Lots of Woofs from Earl and I at Earl’s World!
Happy to make you laugh 🙂
I Would Choose The Classic Adult Toy & Small Breed Real Chicken with Brown Rice & Green Pea Dry Recipe.
Sounds good!
Bentley would like to try the Buffalo and Sweet Potato recipe! He also says that you can come live with us. : ) I nominated you for a feature post on Molly the Wally’s Sunday post.
Hope he wins it! Thanks for the nomination too. I have to stay living with my mom and sisters, but I want to see you in Nashville 😉
I’d probably go with an ‘exotic’ flavor like the Buffalo and Sweet Potato. It’s nice to have something different. 🙂
That does sound exotic!
Thanks for the opportunity to win, Emma! Your ad sounds perfect.
Ace would love to win, and he would try the grain-free duck and sweet potato.
I like duck, but I don’t like sweet potato. I may be the only dog that doesn’t.
I have been feeding my pup Rudy Merrick’s grain free wet and dry food for some time.now. And I have to say it is the best dog food on the market that offers him the most variety when it comes to the many different stews out on the market. Merrick is number one in my book and the best food out there for my baby. Who to me is the best dog ever.
That is awesome! I am going to try switching to Merrick now. Love the flavors they have. We only eat dry, but on occasion, we get wet food.
They make some darn yummy cat food too!
I bet they do, but being a dog, I only got sent the dog food, LOL!
I think you would get lots of responses to that ad, Emma! (if they could overlook the stealing dirty undies part….LOL).
We are part of the campaign so will be getting some food to try and are looking forward to it.
Why would anyone overlook my stealing habit? It is so fun. We will look forward to your post and help share it as well.
Thank you, Emma! Our post was supposed to go up tomorrow, but we never received our food to try! I guess there’s been some kind of glitch which BlogPaws is looking into, so it will be rescheduled.
Bummer. Our food came while we were away. Hopefully you can get going on your post soon.
Hopefully everyone knows your ad is just for pretends because otherwise you are going to have a full email inbox! Great giveaway too Emma!
I changed the title several times as I did not want anyone to panic and think I had become homeless! I guess I could give away my little sister, but I am staying put!
Sounds delicious that food. Yummi. Sniff and wags from Laika and Vaks.
It is tasty food!
Emma, do you need glasses to read? We’re impressed! (MOL) We are sooo sorry our human didn’t hook up with you at BlogPaws!!!
I didn’t realize she was there until later in the day on Saturday. We were always hanging around and Mom had at least on of us with her all the time. Maybe in Nashville?
That sounds like some tasty food! Petal enjoys some of their treats. So glad you have a wonderful pet parent to snuggle with Emma!
It is tasty, I can be picky, but I like it.
There food are good – we used to eat it, but Finley are allyergik to a couple of da ingredients, so we switched. But we luv dere Texas Toothpicks – dose are da tastiest treat!
I was in Texas on the way home from BlogPaws so I bet I should try out the Texas toothpicks!
You are pretty lucky in the parent department, Emma! Boy… if we won we’d go for the wet stuff – starting with the Cowboy Cookout! I’m sure Rita would be a fan of that!
They have such fun names, don’t they? We will see who is chosen.
We love the Texas beef and sweet potato the best.
Millie and Walter
I saw so many cows when we drove through Texas the other day! Makes me think about beef all the time!
I would choose the Buffalo and Sweet Potato recipe
Thanks for entering. We will see who wins in 13 days.
I would pick the Grain Free Real Buffalo & Sweet Potato dry food and Honolulu Luau or Merrick’an Pie Seasonal Recipe wet dog food.
Sounds like you have some tough decisions to make. All those nice names make it hard to choose.
Lucky you to get some yummy food to try. We tried Merrick a couple of years back and our dogs did not do well on it. It was disappointing because I think it is a good quality food. 🙂
Mom is hoping it agrees with me…we shall see. We love their flavors for sure!
I love your ad for a pet parent! Too cute!
Thank you! I’m just glad I don’t really need one since I am a happy camper where I am 😉
Hmm, this gives me a idea on how to write Want Ads for my shelter friends. Maybe if I post them in the newspaper they will find homes faster. Think I should list it in the “Singles” post?
We talked about shelter animals in a Hills lunch at BlogPaws. Some points everyone agreed one were to make sure the pet has a fun name, and then write a fun description, not the standard blah, walks on leash, is good with kids… Maybe great leashed jogging partner, enjoys playing games with mini humans, something more fun that will set it off from all the other ads out there. Not sure about the newspaper ads, but the text works for ads anywhere.
I would have to choose the wet Merrick food. That is what we have sissy spaniel on now. She likes the one with the chickyum in it.
Don’t you just love the names of their foods?
I love this post. What a fun campaign!
Thank you. We thought it would be a fun one to work on and we are all about fun!
Merrick seems like a good food 🙂
It is on our top five list.
We have never tried Merrick but this is the perfect opportunity to see if what the dogs think of it. We would want to try Classic Real Lamb with Brown Rice & Apple.
I like the campaign for this … you wrote a wonderful ad Emma. I guess having such a good Ma helped. You already knew what the perfect human for you would be like. Have a wonderful weekend!
It is supposed to be a fun campaign and it is. Glad you like my ad, happy I don’t need to use it.
Your Mom is blessed to have you, keep giving her tons of kisses and she’ll keep surprising you with yummy stuff like Merrick!
It seems to me that our mailman and UPS guy surprise me with goodies more than anyone else 😉 Mom spoils us plenty, though.
Emma, your ad is brilliant and I’ve been thinking about the same types of things myself! Sometimes humans need things spelled out for them and you did a fantastic job!
Bunny
Thanks, Bunny! Humans sometimes need a bit of nudging to figure things out.
That is one awesome pic you got next to the Merrick table at BlogPaws!
Thank you. I liked them, they were fun and had some food.
The Classic Real Lamb with Brown Rice & Apple looks and sounds delicious!!!! 🙂
Don’t you just love the names of the food, it sounds so good!
Jax has already tried the grain free canned Wingaling and he loves it!
I just love those flavor names!
Not sure what flavor I would pick if I won but I would pick a combo of wet and dry. Thats what my dogs eat now.
As far as I know, they don’t have any bad flavors, so it is hard to choose.
