Today, I am going to delve inside the mind of a naughty dog, namely, my little sister, Bailie. Bailie was really a great puppy, but shortly after she turned a year old, she started down the wrong path towards being a naughty dog. I thought it might be interesting to really get into her mind and see what makes her be such a naughty dog at times. Bailie was a bit unsure about the whole thing, but I told her it would all be fine. Let’s get to the interview, shall we?
Emma: So Bailie, are you aware that you are a naughty dog these days.
Bailie: Oh yes, I know, but that’s okay. I don’t mind that title. You and Katie are so well behaved, someone has to spice things up around the house. Big yawn…
Emma: Do you miss your daytime bed? You know after you pretty much destroyed it, Mom threw it out and said she wasn’t getting you a new one until you stop ruining things.
Bailie: I know she threw it out. There was barely any stuffing left anyway. I can still squeeze into the little puppy bed if I want a bed, so not a big deal.
Emma: Let’s talk about your latest naughty act that you committed on a walk with me and Mom. Grr…
Bailie: What about it? I wanted to play with a headband I found on the ground. Mom said drop it. I said no way. She tried to grab it. I swallowed it.
Emma: Do you know how dangerous that was? Had you not puked it out almost five days later, it could have gotten stuck and you would have needed surgery. Yes, surgery! Woof, woof…
Bailie: I know. Mom told me all that in her panic after I swallowed it when she came home and called the vet. I have a pretty tough tummy, you know. I kept it in my belly until I was good and ready to just throw it up.
Emma: Mom said you were going to eat it again but she got there in time. Why would you even think about doing that? Did you not learn anything?
Bailie: Geez Emma, relax. Everything worked out fine and I didn’t get to swallow it again. I don’t eat or chew on your stuff…well, usually I don’t, so why all the worries. Big sigh…
Emma: Now you have to be kenneled a lot of the times when Mom is not home and you can’t stand that. Don’t you see that if you are a good girl, you can hang out with Katie and I instead of being locked up in your kennel?
Bailie: I know. One of these days I will behave. You know I am the youngest of all the furs, Sophie is five years older than me and she is the closest. I just need someone to play around with me when I get bored, but since none of you guys want to, I decide to just destroy some stuff.
Emma: Don’t you want to be treated like a “big” dog and not a baby?
Bailie: I think I will always be treated like a baby no matter what. Don’t you hear what Mom is always calling me? Baby Bails, Baby Bailie, or Baby Dog. She likes me to be her puppy that never grows up, so why change? Thumps tail…
Emma: You are pretty immature, but I think your cuteness saves your furry behind most of the time. Do you have any regrets about your behavior?
Bailie: I don’t really have any regrets. I’m just having lots of fun, and fun is my focus. One day I will have to grow up, so for now I’m just having a good time. Besides that, what would you post about on Mondays if you didn’t have all my mischief?
Emma: Oh brother sister! I think it may be hopeless with you! Thanks for chatting with me, and please, just try to knock off some of your naughtiness!
I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
Haha great interview I lol on you swallowed the head band. I would of been making you throw it up right away. Gambler said that is why he gets into mischief so I have something to write about.
The vet said it could get stuck if we made her throw it up right away. Since there was not 100% answer, we decided to wait it out but expected to find it come out the back end, not the front after almost five days!
Oh, Bailie! I just hope none of this mischief comes around and bites you on your butt!
I know, Mom worries all the time, but there is only so much she can do because I am determined to create mischief!
Bailie that is some mischief. OMD at the hairband. My Peeps would have panicked and then blown a gasket. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Mom panicked and we had to walk home immediately so she could call the vet. There was no perfect solution, so we decided to wait it out but never expected Bailie to throw it up after five days. We thought it would come out the other end.
Bailie- you are going to get your puppy butt in real trouble if you don’t be careful. You are lucky you are so darn cute!
Mom says Bailie is walking on thin ice whatever that means. She just keeps finding more and more mischief where we never expect it, but hopefully she will give it up soon.
Oh my! I guess Bailie is entering the terrible twos. Freighter will be three this month and is finally getting over them!
She is only 17 months! Mom has never experienced a dog like this, so it is quite the challenge!
variety is the spice of life – it would be kinda boring if your were all perfect
Mom says Bailie is making her hair turn white, not even gray!
Hi Emma, Lilly here, Dash’s little sister. Tell Bailie: You go girl! Little sisters unite! Keep having fun!! your doodle girlfriend, Lilly
Oh man, the last thing she needs is friends that enjoy the same “hobbies”. We want her to finally grow up a bit and stop giving my heart attacks!
Great interview, Emma. And it sure is Monday Mischief. Loved it… hugs, Bugsy and Knuckles
Plenty of that mischief living with Bailie, that is for sure!
Uh Oh, sounds like a teenager to me.
Amen, evil twin!! I chewed a hole in the bottom of my bed (love that fluffy stuff!) Last night I shredded a whole roll of toilet paper. I destroy toys. Life is good. XOXO Sparkle the bad, baby PBGV
Bailie’s bed went in the trash last week, now during the day she has to squeeze into her puppy size bed!
Oh Bailie, you sure don’t want anything inside that tummy except for yummy food!
That is what Mom tells her, but sometimes she eats stuff she shouldn’t.
Very good interview. We have not read one word about mischief
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Are you secret friends with Bailie??? She is such a naughty one!
I think cuteness saves a lot of furry behinds. BOL!
Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats.
This is very true!
Bailie- Do you have any advice for my naughty dog problem? It’s not “big baby Huxley” but corgi-in-the-middle Brychwyn who doesn’t seem to want to grow up! Oh, and Amelia. And Leo… Ah, never mind!
Mom doesn’t know what to do. Katie and I are good role models, but Bailie is determined to stay on the naughty dog path.
I’m glad that headband reappeared naturally. Your mom must have been worried about that!
She tried not to think about it, but was worried after five days it might never come out and Bailie might need surgery, so she was thrilled when it was tossed up.
Ha, it isn’t often bipeds are thrilled about us puking!
Mom was so excited, I thought maybe I should puke!
My biped is still laughing!
We are all happy we can laugh about it and not be at the vet with the problem!
I meant about you thinking about puking to please her! My biped would be frantic if I ate a hairband.
Great interview! I bet your mom was worried about Bailie and that head band. My dogs say, “Keep on chewing” – not helpful, lol
Mom was very concerned, but since there was no fail safe way to get it out we were all just waiting and hoping it would come out the back end. The front end reappearance was a big surprise!
Bailey…… we think you are SUPER … Just the way you are… Heck Sakes… WHY grow up and stop having fun…
We do stuffs like that… just last night we worked together on a Stuffie and ripped out its beating squeaker…. and we were having a super time TENDERIZING it before devouring… and Suddenly Mom SNATCHED up all the pieces and pawts and checked our mouffs and stuffs…
We are like YOU Bailey….. FREE SPIRITS…. and don’t care much about the Fun Pawlice. GO FUR IT GIRRRRRL. Make the MOSTEST Mess of EVERY DAY.
I think I should rehome my little sister. We don’t deal well with naughtiness at my house. Well, maybe I shouldn’t as she can really be a ton of fun. Maybe she will come to her senses eventually!
Every family needs a rebel – Bailie has enough troublemaking in her for two!
She is really a naughty one, and combine that with my cat bro Bert, it is crazy around here!
Oh no! I am so glad the headband thing ended up ok! that could have been so bad!
Out of my 3 huskies, Koda is the same as Bailey. He is the naughty one, the one who destroys, can’t be trusted out in the house to roam while we are away etc…he is also the youngest as Bailey is. I am sure it will all turn around for them BOL! At least, I like to think so!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Hope is the only thing we have to hold on to. Hope Koda and Bailie turn around soon.
Seems I found the girl of my life :o) We would be a great couple, Bailie, like Bonnie&Clyde (but with a happy end of course). Butt please don’t swallow such things, you will get a bitter pill at the vet and your mom a bill (what’s bitter too) :o)
Mom was really worried about Bailie needing emergency surgery, and then the cost of that which would come out of Bailie’s allowance…well, if she ever gets an allowance. It was a happy end, but you are right, the two of you could really do some damage!
Hey Bailie, I think you’re just having fun! It’s no wonder Bentley and Emma are sweeties. B*O*R*I*N*G! Did you know Bentley doesn’t even chase lizards?!?! We make a good team because we love fun! ☺ Your Pal, Pierre
♥Sorry Emma, Pierre got his paws on the keyboard first. Kids! ♥ Bentley
I think more dogs side with Bailie on the naughtiness issue which is hard for a dog like myself to believe. As long as she doesn’t hurt herself, and Mom’s nerves hold out we should be alright.
Hopefully you all can enjoy Bailie’s mischievous youthful stage while it lasts – as long as she doesn’t get herself into too much trouble.
Mom keeps saying she will miss these episodes at some point, but having the nerves to live through them right now is the hard part!
Emma – wonderful interview. Bailey, you are getting almost as naughty as me ( but I have chosen to NEVER grow up, because I am a PBGV and we rarely do the maturity thing – at least we girls don’t.). I am eleven now and since the vet fixed my seizures and high blood pressure I am back to my old hell on wheels routine. My little brother ( even if he IS taller than me – as GBGV usually are) just turned seven years old and I kept mom so busy picking up after my destruction and she actually forgot all about him! YEAH! Score another one for ME – the queen! When I was a puppy one of my nick names was ” Lucy-fur” – because I was, and am, Hell on wheels. My other nick name is “the mouth” because I do not have an “off ” button when I start barking – which is really frequently.
Your best friend is sneaky crime, Lucy
Oh, Chablis says hello to all your girls – I really do not get him, I guess it is a guy thing.
Bailie just enjoys destruction, then when she is caught she bats her eyes and offers Mom a huggle and all if forgotten. Very frustrating in a home with well behaved dogs! It is scary to think she may never grow up, but I guess it is something we may have to deal with! We love her and she does make Katie and I look real good! Hey there, Chablis!
We soooooo understand Emma…we have Arty here in our pack and if we don’t play with him he gets all kinds of grumpy!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Some siblings just go to such drastic measures to be in the center of things!
I also got a relapse when I was 1½ years old. I ate a pair of shoes, and was put into the bathroom for a few months when I was home alone. It was boring for towels and toilet paper and the shower curtain was removed before Mom and Dad went. After that I never did anything bad again.
It sure would be nice if Bailie would outgrow this sudden naughtiness. Thank you as you give us hope.
Gosh, I’m so glad nothing bad happened to Bailie’s digestive system after eating that headband! I would’ve been freaking out just like your mom was. I had no idea stuff can sit in a dog’s tummy for five days before they will throw it up! I’m glad she’s OK.
I don’t think that is normally the way it works. Everyone said it would come out the other end in a couple days, but we don’t care and are just thrilled it came back out!
Sounds like she’s not ready to give up her life of crime! Oh well… At least it’s good blog fodder! 😉 (yikes about swallowing the headband though!!)
I keep reminding Bailie I had the blog long before she arrived and had plenty to post, but she insists it would be a boring blog without her.
Oh Bailie, maybe you and I should hang out- we’d just be so destructive, that maybe two “negatives” would equal a positive and we’d just sleep for days straight from being so crazy together. 🙂 Great interview, Emma!
I think a few of my blog friends would make a nice match up for Bailie. We just hope she never hurts herself.
Oh Bailey that’s how you end up in the dog house for good!
Yep, she is really digging herself into a hole!
Someone has to keep up the mischief around the house!
Bailie is more than happy to do that too!
Oh boy, she definitely does sound hopeless! Absolutely no remorse about anything. We had a day yesterday with Luke getting into everything that makes me think he is getting to the same stage as Bailie, and things are going to get worse before they get better!
It is really hard since she was a perfect puppy, it wasn’t until after she turned one she started the path of naughtiness. Katie and I never did this kind of stuff, so Mom is wondering what the heck is wrong with Bailie!
Glad you’re OK, Bailie! I would have been freaking out. You better be careful or you’re going to need surgery and that’s no fun! Plus that might cut into your treat budget.
We try to be careful with her, but she always does something totally unexpected! Scary little girl she is!
Bein naughty are more fun.
That seems to be Bailie’s mindset!
I am so glad you and Cole can’t email suggestions for naughtiness!! He has urped up some really questionable items, thank goodness. You are a girls just wanna have fun kind of girl aren’t you?? LeeAnna at not afraid of color
Bailie has pooped out lots of fiberfill and stuff like that, but this was really naughty. She better not do something like this again!
Hopefully Bailie will outgrow her naughtiness before it hurts her.
Honey is very good now. But I remember when she was a wee puppy she picked up a dead pigeon on a walk. I said, “Drop it.” and went to pull it out of her mouth. She looked me right in the eye and swallowed.
What is it with some pups? 🙂
I tried to swallow a dead squirrel as a pup. Luckily it was winter and Mom had gloves on. She managed to grab a piece before I got it down and pulled it out. That was it for me. We try our best to keep an eye on Bailie, but she is always doing something new and totally unexpected!
Hey Bailie
Kudos on your mischief, however, as a wise mischief master (I’m 4 now!) I would recommend proving you can be trusted when they’re not around, I learnt that trick very early on and I only ever perform mischief when I have an audience, it gives me lots of freedom which I love!
I hope it works out buddy,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Katie and I are trying to get Bailie to understand that, but she is such a free spirit, in the moment girl, it is hard.
In Bailey’s defense, we (Harley & I) believe she is just going through a phase. Question is whether or not the rest of the family has what it takes to survive until she’s out of it! Hang in there – all of you!
Katie and I don’t mind much, but Mom complains about Bailie frazzling her nerves, whatever she means by that.
ROTFLOL!! Bailie you remind me so much of myself! Some of my worst mischief was after I turned 1! Mom always used to say how naive she was thinking once I lost my puppy teeth I’d stop destroying stuff! I think you’ll turn out just fine and Emma does need to relax a little. Love Dolly
Mom may not survive Bailie’s naughty phase, it makes her a wreck since she has never had a dog like this. One day she will outgrow it and we will miss her antics, but until then we just hope she doesn’t hurt herself.
Terriers are are known to be stubborn, mischievous, and determined. Plus Baillie is entering adolescence. Expect this behavior to last until she gets a little older. From your description of Ballie you could have been describing BJ when he came home. He was about 7 mos.
BJ was adopted from the NY Humane Society and at that time Bill Berloni, the animal trainer and animal talent agent offered his services for NYHS pets. Bill told me that first, BJ was a terrier, and second at 7 mos. BJ was just entering adolescence. He was approaching puberty and it was the same as being a human teenager. Bill told me he would grow out of it. BJ did – at around 2 1/2.
I wish you luck and hope Ballie calms down soon.
We figure she will come out of this naughty snap, but Katie and I never went through times like this, and neither did Mom’s other dog, so it is a bit odd. I think Mom just got really lucky with the rest of us and Bailie may be the more normal one!
Oh Bailie, I for one love your naughtiness, it makes me feel like I’m not alone. 🙂 Besides maturing is for the old ones anyway and who wants that. I say, keep up the good work.
Mom says she needs to just laugh as long as Bailie is not hurt as she will grow up one of these days and we will miss her stunts.
Wow, Bailey should really not lower the standards for food in this world. Why on earth would you eat a headband? Bleah… *flicks tongue* 😛
I know. She eats anything and everything. Being one of fourteen puppies kind of trained her to be that way from the minute she was born.
Excellent interview!! Well done Emma…and Bailie, keep on causing mischief! We like to read about it!
She doesn’t have any plans to stop that I know of, but we wish she would!
