Sunday, Bailie and I participated in a Sniff ‘n Go nose work event held by our instructor. It was a lot of fun, and some good practice too. We always take some time off from our sports in December. After a two week break, this was our first time back in sniffing action.
The Sniff ‘n Go had three searches, all holiday themes. The set up, if you know about nose work, was more the style of an elements trial than a traditional trial. The first two searches had multiple hides, the last one just one hide. Back last spring we did another Sniff ‘n Go for Easter that was a lot of fun with all Easter themed searches.
Our video has been edited as it was rather long, and we only included some of the interesting parts of the three searches. We had six videos total to combine and pare down. Actually, only my videos were edited. Bailie’s search, the third one on the video is the full search. Now we will be getting back into our practicing habit even though we are off of school until January 9th. There are trials to be entered starting the end of February and we need to get our noses prepared!
Another other fun thing about the SniffΒ ‘n Go is that there was a donation made to a dog charity and we also brought two new toys to give to shelter/rescue dogs to help them have a better holiday! If your dog does sports, do you go to any fun holiday events?
I love such a sniff n’ go… you could found a business… you can sniff out all christmas/birthday/hanukkah/easter/wedding presents in advance and the recipient will not be disappointed when he opens a gift what contains something what was not on the wishlist… so efurrybuddy is pre-warned and you can make efurry event to a peaceful one ;o)
I could only sniff out presents with birch, anise, or clove in them. We love to sniff!
What fun! You and Bailie are so pawsome. I did not have fun at the dog show. It was too loud as we walked by the diving dogs…YIKES, do they get loud and excited. I did not sparkle at the Meet and Greet booth – I was rather timid. I was overwhelmed. XOXO, Sparkle
Too bad about the dog show. I would not like that at all. I’m not a fan of lots of commotion either. I know some of those dog sports are really wild and out of hand.
I’m liking the sniffing game. You sure do have a professional sniffer

I really love nose work. I get real mad when it is done and I have to quit as it is so fun for me.
What a fun idea to have a festive search! Even better that it helped out shelter dogs too! I love watching you girls work. We haven’t been doing too much lately, and need to really get back into things after the holidays.
It never hurts to take a break. We don’t forget and it also motivates us to search when we have been “deprived” for a couple weeks.
Good job sniffing out those smells, friends. What fun, and all for a good cause, too!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
We always enjoy doing what we were born to do…sniff π
Now that’s sniffin’ with a really fun and nice purpose, bravo!
It’s always nice to do some fun practice without the usual rules.
That’s such a fun idea! I’m glad you were able to give something to shelter pets, too. We’ve never done a Christmas nose works, but we do an Easter Egg hunt in the yard every year and we do a lot of noseworks just around the house to take a break from all of the holiday chaos at Christmas.
We do Easter ones each year, but never thought about Christmas ones. It was a lot of fun.
I love watching you work so hard. I thought those lights might be hiding something too! Good job. β₯
Bailie has a pretty casual attitude, but I am very serious, and really work hard. I love this sport so very much!
We love seeing the tail wagging good times you and Bailie have while you are doing your nosework!!

We get pretty excited when we find a hide! It is so much fun for us!
Good job you guys. Your trials will be here before you know it.
First one is in two months if Bailie gets a spot!
What fun! Always nice when someone is willing to host a fun day.
It was over fast, but fun while it lasted!
You can tell that you are happy doing the searches. I love to see happy dogs.
If you want to see happy dogs, my blog is usually a good spot to visit! We are pretty happy hounds around here, and we do love nose work, especially me!
