May Day, May Day, can you believe it is already the first of May? My how time flies, and if you are flying you definitely don’t want to hear May Day, May Day!
Here in the US, the day isn’t really celebrated anymore, but in Europe for many it is still a holiday for workers. I know when we lived in Germany, it was a holiday. Mom doesn’t miss much about living over there, but she did enjoy all the holidays they have!
I’ll be taking the day off and putting my paws up. I think getting all gussied up in a fancy outfit and going on a picnic is a fantastic idea. My sisters can stay home with Mom and work. Since I work like a dog all the time, and I’m the only one left in this house with a foreign passport from a country that does observe this holiday, I deserve some peace all by myself.
Whether you are working, going on a picnic, or just playing around, I wish you a Happy May Day!
it’s a howl-i-day here too… but we got hail and rain instead of may flowers… butt the staff is may day mode, they need the diy-cowboy store and it is closed till tomorrow… sigh..
That is the problem in Europe, on holidays everything is closed. Here it is usually open.
Oooooo, so fancy Emma. I remember learning the may pole dance when I was in elementary school.
Sadly, it is just a regular day of work now for those here in the USA.
Happy May Day, Emma! My mom told me about the May pole with the ribbons on it, and sending cards to someone anonymously (ringing the doorbell and hiding) when she was a little girl. XOXO, Sparkle
My mom knows about the May baskets. I just went with the picnic basket as I like food.
That is quite the outfit you’ve got on! Definitely an outfit worth going out in π Enjoy your day of relaxation.
Sometimes a girl really needs to get all fancied up to go out. It is fun.
Mary and I must be around the same age – I remember the May Pole “dance” at school too! And they were still doing it at the elementary schools back home a few years before I moved down here.
You look so pretty in pink, Miss Emma! Happy May Day to you and yours as well!!
My mom remembers May baskets, but she really remembers the May poles when she lived in Bavaria in Germany.
OMD this is just the CUTEST!! Happy May Day!!!

You are looking so fancy in pink, Emma! We hope you had a peaceful and yummy picnic! π
Thank you. It was a restful day.
Love your picnic attire, Emma.
Thank you. I felt a bit fancy.
Oh Emma you look ravishing in pink, but I think you stole your outfit from you mom’s closet right? May is always mom’s favorite month because of her birthday. Love Dolly
My gramma has a May birthday. I do wear mom’s clothes, but she understands because she used to borrow her mom’s cloths too. We wear the same size, so it is practical!
We could definitely take a page from other countries in terms of holidays and vacations. I hope you had a great day off!
The US is all about work, work, work…we prefer day off, day off, day off π
Next year I think you all should dance around the May Pole…lol.
