Being in my birthday week and month, I got to thinking about dogs and astrology. Does astrology apply to dogs? Do I fit into my sign? I hopped online and checked it out. Today I’m sharing my findings with all of you.
My birthday is September 11, 2006. Don’t feel bad about that. I was born to bring happiness to the world on a day where many people tend to feel sad. This date classifies me as a Virgo.
Am I a true Virgo?
You would not believe how many different descriptions for Virgo there are online! I read a lot of them, and took the items that were most common to compare to myself to.
My similarities:
- Duty oriented
- Great working dog
- Quick learner with a desire to be perfect
- A short temper
- Tendency to analyze thoroughly before doing
- Cautious with anything new
My differences:
- Enjoys grooming – no not me!
- Doesn’t like to get dirty – I have no issues with dirt!
My mom always says I have an amazing work ethic, and she loves that about me. I take my work seriously, and do it to the best of my ability no matter what. I do have a temper, and if I don’t want to do something, there is no way to make me do it. Analyzing is one of my favorite things to do, and I’m in no hurry either. My lack of urgency drives Mom crazy in nose work as we don’t have all day, but I cannot be rushed. Routine is important to me. Mom juggles our routine all the time, but I always fight it. I don’t ever take new treats without first sniffing and thinking it over. I’m always cautious with anything new.
What about the Chinese zodiac signs?
Amazingly, I was born in the year of the dog! Woof to that one! Even more crazy is that my most compatible sign is anyone from the year of the rabbit! No, I’m not kidding, this stuff is real!
Dogs are loyal and honest, amiable and kind, and cautious. Lucky for my mom, dogs will do everything for the person who they feel is most important.
If you are born in the year of the dog, there are five types of “dogs”. I fall into the Fire Dog category which means I am intelligent, hardworking, and sincere. This is 500% true for me.
Conclusion:
I think this astrology stuff has some serious merit to it! I feel like I am a true Virgo and Dog. What do you think? Do you fit into your astrological shoes?

We don’t know our exact birthdays but from what we can tell they ring pretty true!
We don’t know our kitties exact birthdays either, but they don’t seem to mind.
I think so … I’m the virgo-est virgo ever, I top even the mama, hahahaha. I’m a chinese monkey (yes, what else lol) … we probably have the weirdest constellation in our crib, two virgo’s vs. two lions
My mom is a lion, but we are all a big mix here. I can definitely see you in the year of the monkey.
Well, let’s see…Shadow was born a Libra, Ducky was born an Aquarius (like her Daddy), and I was born a Leo. But I don’t really devote much time – if any – to astrology any more. I know one Leo trait that fits me, though. I am fiercely protective of my “children”!! ❤️❤️
My mom doesn’t do much with astrology, she too is a Leo, and it fits her. Now and then she will see a horrorscope and read it. Most of the time is seems to be correct.
This is the year of the dog. That makes you very special.
In my furry opinion, every year should be the year of the dog, but I guess that wouldn’t work out too well.
We definitely feel there is some merit in reference to Astrology (the signs and their characteristics in reference to our pets). On Dakota’s blog, quite some time ago I posted the characteristics of Pisces (which is what Dakota is) in reference to Dakota and many of the characteristics were spot on. Cody is an Aries which is fearless, determined, stubborn etc and Cody is EXACTLY like an Aries!
Mom thinks in general the signs and traits fit humans and pets for the most part, but not 100%.
How fun. I will have to look up my doggies too.
It is fun for us to see if we fit, and if Mom even fits into her signs.
We will look up our astrology too! Yours fits you really well! Mom liked your “500% true” comment. That made her smile. Cool post Emma! Your doodle friend Dash
Mom got the idea when she was out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant with Gramma and the placemats had the Chinese signs and info on them. Have fun figuring yourselves out!
We’ve never checked into this for any of the dogs, but this was interesting, so now we might have to see how Luke fits in with his sign!
It’s free and interesting entertainment.
I was born in the year of the pig and Pierre was born under the sign of rabbit. He is never going to let me live this one down. BOL! We are a perfect match no matter what the signs say. ♥ Your Basset, Bentley
LOL! I would be horrified to be born in the year of the wabbit! Pig, well, doesn’t sound pretty, but pigs are nice animals. No matter what signs or years you have, you are the best, Bentley.
What a beautiful photo of you!!
Celebrating my birthday a couple days ago, I can honestly say I’m a true blue Virgo too. Happy birthday dear Emma. Enjoy the whole month!
Happy belated birthday to you! Enjoy your birthday month as well.
