I became an urban hound for part of the day on Saturday. Mom and I decided to do some walking in the St. Anthony Main area of Minneapolis to do some photos. This part of town is very well known for having the only waterfall on the Mississippi River, and for the Pillsbury flour mill. Although the street is an historic street, many of the old buildings have been renovated into modern condos, restaurants and bars now.
We wanted to find some old buildings for me to pose by, but most of the ones in the area we were at were off limits as they were private condo spaces. One wall did the trick, but next time we will plan more time and find some more.
Our goal was really to go down by the river. Years ago, Mom used to go to the St Anthony Area a lot, but she never went down by the river. To get there, we climbed down the rickety stairs which add to the whole experience.
There is a lot of graffiti down along the river paths. In someways, it is sad, but it also adds a bit of city charm to everything.
In some ways, it was a bit like a jungle near the river with all the greenery, trees, and stuff. Behind me is the base of the waterfall, but there is a lot of trash and junk lying around there too.
Mom and I climbed around the area for quite a while. Some of the paths were a bit rough.
We found this huge tree with a “cave” like hole in it’s base. Someone had painted around the entrance. I thought it would make a cute photo. I’m about twenty inches at my shoulders, so you can get a feel for the size of this hole and giant tree.
Here is a view to the flour mills and old buildings up above us. The sign is on the Pillsbury mill.
We climbed back up to head back to the car, and found this piece of history information by the mill. It is interesting to read. Because it was on a tall piece of stone, and Mom is short, it is the best photo we could get.
One last urban hound shot of me here by the Pillsbury A Mill they are talking about. The red tile elevators are on the left of the photo. That concludes my tour for today. I’ll be back with my urban hound birthday photos on Wednesday, my actual birthday.

Very cool tour and photos
Thank you.
Great photo walk and some lovely images. I really like the one with the cave tree. Have a blessed week.
It was a huge tree and a super unique find.
WOW! That was a very informative tour, but was it a safe place in these trying times? I was scared for you. My mom said your mom would only take you to very safe places. XOXO, Sparkle
My mom was a bit worried going to the city for the first time since all the stuff happened, but it was fine. We were in a different part of town, so it was safe.
I’m glad you had a good time, it was fun for us to see. That tree cave was something!
It was an amazing space inside a tree!
Amazing tour of some history – glad you also got some sniffing time with the trees and plants.
Yes, this week I’m getting some extra sniffing time on my walks.
awesome photos. Fun to be an urban hound for a day! Interesting lessons you learned along the way. Awesome birthday week!!!! your friend Lilly
It is fun to visit, but we prefer the suburbs most of the time.
Mom is sure making sure you have the best birthday week ever. Good for her and a huge Awww. You’re the cutest.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. My best to your siblings and your wonderful mom. β₯
Thank you. She loves to help use each feel special.
What a fun day! Those steps look scary. I enjoy the old sections of a city.
We don’t go downtown much, so it was fun. The old ruins and old buildings are the most fun to see.
What a beautiful place for a walk! Thanks for bringing us along.
It was quite interesting and fun.
We always love your photos!
Thank you. We enjoy taking them.
What a fun walk for you, Bailie! We love the cave hole in the tree!
It could be a dog house if it was in my yard.
What a fun adventure Bailie! A little of the city and nature all rolled into one!

Minnesota is known for having like the most parks of any place in the country, and the city is no exception. There is always green and water nearby.
Thanks for the tour. You look like itβs was very warm out.
It wasn’t too warm, but we did a lot of hiking around.
What a fun trip! YOU are a very good tour guide! I am partial to “hol-e” trees. The boys like to hide in them. thanks yo for sharing this historic journey.
I had never seen such a tree, so it was really interesting.
Fantastic pictures and I wish I could climb into that cave tree…MOL…Thanks for the side seeing, Bailie, we loved itπΊPawkisses for a Happy DayπΎπ½π
