The fall before the snowstorm. I had planned this post way before I had any idea we would have a big snowstorm three days later, but I thought it was still nice to see some fall since the snow right now is pretty unusual. Mom and I headed out on the trials by Gramma’s house for a look at the leaves.
It was obvious the peak was over as there were so many leaves on the trail and off in the woods. The dried grasses and all the colors of fall do paint a nice picture while walking. We found it odd that so many trees were bare, yet the ones that were not bare were still green.
Along the way, we found this little fellow in the trunk of a tree. Usually we see rocks all over that people have painted and left, but they are boring. This little guy was a fun find and worth a photo. Madison and Olivia found a troll in the same area last spring.
After leaving the woods we headed into the swamp trail. It was dry, and for a change, the water was not spilling over the trail. We came across this rather creepy tree in the swamp and thought it would be a good Halloweeny photo.
There was some non-frozen water still in the creek. I bet if I went today it may have snow around it and a light layer of ice in the morning.
Thankfully, there are benches along the way. An almost two hour walk does tend to make a girl tired and ready for a nap. Unfortunately, I had to continue walking back to Gramma’s house before I could take a nap. It was a fun walk, and a good look at fall before the snowstorm!
My GBGV Life is joining Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
That was a fun walk. We love to see what nature is doing in your part of the world (and a snowstorm already – my oh my!)
And that little chappie in the tree hollow has a mighty fine ‘tache!
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
Yes, we are on day 3 of snow, which is really early, but we do love it. Have a fun weekend, and don’t let your mom escape without you!
oooh we love that guy in that tree… is it a pirate? we found a police bear in a tree … is it maybe a new trend we missed somehow? that can be we are no (trend) setters LOL
We think he is a pirate. Since the pandemic, people leave stuff all over, I think to make others smile…at least it works that way when we find these things.
That was a very nice walk. The pictures are showing that you actually get seasons.
Sometimes right on top of each other. We may have a lot of leaves come spring if things don’t melt and dry up so we can remove them from the lawn.
Nice walks are such a wonderful part of our days too. We so so many happy puppy tails on the trails but we have NEVER,no NEVER seen a cute little pirate in a tree. What a splash of color and fun
Happy Friday
Hugs cecilia
We love any walk, but finding a little surprise always a bit more fun to a walk.
Nice to have some Mommy and me time on such a pretty walk.
I love mommy and me time and getting to visit Gramma. She says I’m her favorite because I’m so well behaved and gentle compared to the rowdies.
Awesome post and photos! We love long walks in the fall! The colors are wonderful! Have a great weekend!
They are nice and all the smells in the leaves too. You have a fun weekend. My sisters have trials, so I get to put my paws up and relax at home.
Your autumn colors look similar to ours, Bailie. Doesn’t autumn smell awesome!
Even humans say it smells like fall, but they don’t catch all the really good smells we do.
That was a fun find in that tree, maybe he was getting ready to hide from winter!
We wonder if he is still there or was snowed out?
You do have the most beautiful trails in your state. Somebody is having fun placing items in that tree. You had a nice Mommy and me trip to Gramma’s. XOXO, Sparkle
Mom takes me to Gramma’s a lot since I don’t like to travel and it isn’t that far, plus she says I’m easy to bring along. My sisters are always up for mischief so she has to always watch them.
How fun. I love taking walks with you and your mom. Such beautiful places you take us.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your siblings and your wonderful mom. β₯
If you lived closer, you could really take walks with us!
Looks like a great walk! I wish we we had trails like that near our house!
Our state has trails everywhere. We find it weird when we travel and can’t find any good trails. I guess we are lucky.
We are glad you got out to enjoy the nice fall weather before the snow BUT, we bet you are enjoying snow walks today!
We have been going wild in the snow and are totally crashed out by nighttime! The first snow is always the most fun since it has been a long time.
What a fun walk! Autumn has such a beauty of its own.
It is a beautiful time of the year, and all the tan/brown tones can also be relaxing.
What contrasts mother nature can bring! From green and fall colors, and then on to snow! We got a little bit of light snow, but that was it. Temperatures are really dropping now though, so I imagine our first big one isn’t far off.
We’ve had snow, rain, sleet, but now cold temps and crunchy snow. It’s too early for the snow, but it was fun the first day or two.
What a great place to walk! Wow, you have snow already? We still have pretty leaves, though they are dropping fast. We keep telling them to get back on the trees. Not ready for winter quite yet. LOL
We have record snowfall as it normally doesn’t snow like it has this early.
