I had a chilly and frosty walk in the woods with Mom last Saturday. We were on the way to Gramma’s house and decided to stop for a walk on the way. The weather was pretty foggy, and chilly too, but we still had a nice time. One on one time with Mom always makes me happy.
We walked in the woods that surrounds a lake. The lake is now covered in ice, and with the fog, one can barely see the other side. Mom and I ventured out a short distance onto the snow covered ice for a photo.
This woods has a lot of big trees that have fallen down. I always enjoy sitting and standing on the bigger ones. You can think of me as just another dog on a log, LOL!
There are a lot of critters in this woods, and I would bet at quiet times there are also coyote and fox running around. As always, sniffing for squirrels is something I love.
All the sniffing in the snow and small bushes along the paths certainly does give a girl a real nice snow beard! When I say I’m taking a frosty walk in the woods, I not only am referring to the woods, but my beard as well.
Sometimes I get bored waiting for my photo to be taken. Since there are some nice little trees and plants right next to me I do some sniffing while I’m waiting.
Mom is starting to trust me more lately, and when she feels it is safe, I get to go off leash for a few minutes. Usually I’m much faster moving along, so I have to stop to make sure she is still coming. We had a real fun frosty walk in the woods. Hopefully we will have lots more cold and snow in the coming months for more walks!

Oooh what a lovely adventure in the snowy woods. So beautiful (both you and the trees). And so many interesting smells. Heaven!
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
It was very nice, thank you, Bertie!
what a nice day for you… and we like it when days are a little foggy… then all other things are like far away…
That is true, but we like clear sunny days a lot more, not so depressing looking.
Oh what a nice walk! We both hope your mom was warmly dressed — looks like it was cold! And my brother wants you to know that he had his first off leash hike and he was a good boy! He kept going ahead and back, ahead and back. He probably hiked double what mom did! We love these pictures and it looks like you had a wonderful walk in the snowy woods. Have a great day your friend Lilly
Yes, we had a great walk and Mom is always ready for the cold. I don’t get to go off leash much because Mom worries a lot, but a bit here and there is nice. Your brother sounds like a well behaved guy.
I get very nervous when youβre walking on ice! Stay safe
We stay near the shore, and only where we know it would be safe.
It sure does look frosty but I’m glad you had fun, especially the off leash part!
Frosty is always fun and we had a nice time.
Looks like a lovely sniffy walk!
Lots and lot of sniffing opportunities.
What a beautiful walk! If not for your collar and harness, Bailie, you’d almost blend in with the scenery! π
My furs seem to look pretty good in the snow.
What a pretty walk even if it is frosty and chilly, Bailie. I wish mom would trust me off of my leash.
Mom is very hesitant to let me off leash, but she lets me go a little bit ahead now and then. It only happens when we are alone and there are no distractions coming our way.
You sure got some great snow! We are DEFINITELY hurting in the snow dept this year, hardly any, just like last year so far…..next week, sunny all week and no snow in the entire forecast! Quite strange for January in Michigan.
Mom says winter was lousy when she lived in Detroit. It was gray and in the 30’s most of the time. We are short on snow, but enjoy what we do have.
I’m sure you’ll have lots of walks with mom. I’m glad the mom lets you off leash for a bit. That’s good training for you to stay near. You have to make sure you watch after mom at all times. That’s your job.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches to all your siblings and my best to your mom. β₯
We all pay close attention to mom except when something important happens like a squirrel or bunny sighting.
Oh Bailie, Mama always loves seeing you walking in the snowy woods…your furs make the pictures even more beautiful!
Thank you. My furs were made for winter I guess.
thank goodness you have wonderful thick furs to keep you warm.
Here in the south we hibernate when there is even a smidge of snow.
Hugs Cecilia
Mom finds it funny in other places when cities shut down for a dusting of the white stuff. We are used to it.
I am home alone with Puffin. We got up at 3:45 this morning so mom could be at the hospital in Orlando by 6 am .over you ! XOXO, Sparkle koi yuh
We are hoping things continue to go well with your mom and her back. On FB mom saw that the surgery went well.
That looks like a great place for walking and exploring.
It’s nice any time of the year in the woods around the lake there.
Oh, be careful. I am advised that we should not let our dog walk on the snow with their bare feet. Even when dogs have better immune system and weather resistance than human, they are still exposed to certain risks, depending on the duration of walking and his health condition at that moment.
It is so beautiful and we are happy you got some mom and me time. Ya’ll stay warm.
We all love the snow and cold and are sad it is getting too warm again. A good winter would be much better.
