My birthday week begins today, hip hip hooray! I’m super excited to be turning two next Thursday the 25th. Mom says she is excited too, but feels sad that time goes by so fast. No worries, I’m still her giant baby and Velcro pup, that will never change. I hope you like me because I get to take over the blog and social media for the next week, so much fun!
Last year when I turned one, the world was flipped upside down. Mom had Grand plans for her baby Grand, but this stupid virus cancelled everything for three months. We felt completely tied up like I felt is this silly photo Mom took of me with my tracking equipment. Suddenly all the fun sports and travel we love were no more, and we were all pretty sad. Now we know we can never take anything for granted, not even toilet paper! The main thing is we have each other and that is most important.
What did I accomplish while being one?
Scent Work Titles
Mom says my nose controls my life as I am constantly sniffing and I’m really good at all my nose sports.
In June, Madison and I went to North Dakota where I earned my Container Novice, Overall Novice, and Exterior Advanced Scent Work Titles. It sure was nice kicking of our sports return with a fun road trip to a new place for all of us too!
In August, Bailie and I went to a local Scent Work Trial. I earned my Container Advanced and Interior Advanced Titles. It was a small trial, and we had a real fun day. It is always fun to see our friends at trials. We missed that the three months there were no trials.
October brought another local Scent Work Trial. I sniffed both days, Madison and Bailie each had only one day of sniffing. It was a good trial and I earned my Buried Advanced, Overall Advanced, and Excellent Exterior Scent Work Titles.
Just a few weeks ago I earned my last title while being one here at our local trial. I finished up my Interior Excellent Scent Work Title, so in the next trial I will start sniffing at the Masters Level. Mom can’t wait to call me her Master Sniffer.
Nose Work Titles
Nose work is our most important sniffing sport. If we have to choose a trial on a weekend, Mom will always choose the nose work trial. It is more difficult, but we feel it also means a lot more to earn a title with NACSW.
I earned my first nose work title in August, the L1I, Level One Interior Element Title. It was a lot of fun, and I did a super job!
In October, I earned my very first big nose work title, the NW1, Nose Work One. Mom and I had a really great day despite the cold and snow. I searched like a champ and of course, had fun. Soon I’ll be trying for my NW2 Title, hope it goes well.
FastCAT Title
Madison and I started our FastCAT careers in Iowa last June. What a fun sport! We both just love it and do pretty well at it. There is no real training, we simply have to chase a lure for one hundred yards. Both of us earned our BCAT titles in August in Amana, Iowa.
Since FastCAT is a new sport for us and for Mom, we are still learning about it. We did find out there is a list of the fastest dogs from every breed for the year. Guess who is number one? Sure, there are only a few GBGV’s who do the sport, but that is part of the fun of being a rare breed, right? We do our best to be good breed ambassadors in our sports.
What’s next?
I have a couple competitions coming up, and there are aΒ lot more to enter on the calendar. Hopefully this year trials won’t need to be cancelled and I can bring home even more pretty ribbons! I’m ending being one with my formal name: Ethos Loving The Northland CGC SWA SEE SIE RATO BCAT ORT NW1 L1I
Good heavens! What an accomplished year!! Happy Birthday little girl!! Hope it is a great week! your friend Lilly
Mom and I are the sports lovers of the family and I am hoping to rack up some more titles next weekend when I am officially two. We will see.
You sure did have an awesome first year, Olivia!
I did pretty well considering part of the year was cancelled.
Oh Olivia, you had a wonderful and busy year!
I did a lot and traveled a lot too. It has been fun being one.
You have done more this past year that I have done in the last xxxx years!
And it was a slow year. We are all hoping for a lot more sports and titles this year. I just love doing my sports.
what a wonderful year you had… so much adventures so much prizes… and so much LOVE!
Mom and I really have fun with our sports. Madison and Bailie like sports too but I’m really nuts about them.
Year being one!! I love that title and this post. Just think of all the new scents you learned to recognize while you grew into a most gorgeous lady GBGV. Also I enjoyed Thursday’s post about your family dynamics yesterday.
Hugs and Happy ending to year one and may hear Two be as much fun,
Cecilia
Thank you. My nose work instructor says my nose worked at a very advanced level for my age. It makes me and mom happy that I’m really good at sniffing and I love it so much.
You really did have quite the year and we get to tell you Happy Birthday today and every day along the way!
I’m excited to celebrate me for a whole week!
I am impressed and jealous. I wish Mommy would take me to do that. Would I have very many miniature schnauzers to compete against? You could give me some tips, too! Xoxo Xena
Pee ess, Have a great birthday week and get ya another pretty ribbon.
We see a lot of Schnauzers, giant and regular, not sure about mini because we are not experts with your breed. No ribbons this week because Bailie is competing but I will be trying for ribbons again soon.
What an amazing year for you. All this before you were 2! We just can’t wait to see what’s in store for you in the coming year. Happy before Birthday weekend, Olivia! XOXO Sparkle
I know, I can’t wait either. It makes me so mad when my sisters get to compete and I don’t. I like to always be the one but Mom says I need to learn there are other dogs who get turns. It will be a fun year as long as things don’t cancel again like last year!
A birthday week. I love this idea. A whole week to celebrate being two. Grand fun.
I know how your mom loves to work you pups. We enjoy reading about your exploits too.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your siblings and your wonderful mom. β₯
She has a Grand plan for our sports, always keeping up with what competitions are coming up and which ones and which dogs to enter. We all enjoy it, but I am the most crazy about competing.
Have a great Birthday week Olivia! You certainly had a successful first year!
I’ve done pretty well so far. I started competing at 6 months old, so I got some titles before I was even one. Sports are so fun!
Go Olivia!! You have come so far in just 2 years!!! Our Mama agrees with yours about the time thing…it just flies on by!!
I know, before you know it, Sunny will be turning one!
Happy Birthweek! You were still able to accomplish a lot this past year despite the lockdown.
We lost a ton of trials, but the second half of the year we managed to find a lot of trials to go to.
Hooray for the Birthday Week! If Covid had not interfered, i can only imagine what else you might have earned last year. You are amazing!
Thank you. Hopefully this year will be even more successful, but on the other paw, I’m competing in more advanced levels that are a lot more difficult. I’m up for the challenge.
I love that you have a whole week of celebration! You did so much in one year, Olivia. You are a superstar!
Thank you. We all get the week before our birthday to celebrate. Birthdays are important, right?
Not even two, and so many accomplishments, Olivia! Just think how many more ribbons there would be if not for this stupid pandemic. We hope you get to play catch up this year!!
I know, it was a real bummer losing part of the season. We are entering like crazy this year, and I hope to get my paws on some more titles and ribbons real soon!
Happy First, sweet girl! π¦΄ππ¦΄π
It’s a fun birthday week so far.
