A fall weekend walk is great when the weather is as nice as it was last Saturday! Mom and I went to visit Gramma and took a nice walk when we first got out to that part of town. As you can see, the walk made me really smile! Our goal was to have a fun walk together, but we also found some fun things along the way.
Walking by the wetlands we could see the cattails have all exploded. They look so nice and soft, but we didn’t touch them. It seems that their season has come to an end for this year.
We have had a drought this year and the water levels are still really low. There is barely any water in the little stream behind me. My hope is for a cold and snowy winter to bring up water levels in the spring when it all melts.
Some of the walking paths are gravel, some are asphalt, now covered in crushed leaves. On one of the bare asphalt patches, we found this fuzzy caterpillar. I always enjoy sniffing them, but I never hurt them or try to eat them. Mom thinks they are super cute too.
Moving along the path, I stopped because I could hear the squirrels in the trees around us. It sure would be nice if I could just run away and chase after them, but I don’t. Sometimes I do try to yank off Mom’s arm, but that is the extent of it.
What we did find was this chipmunk. Oh boy, what a treat that is to see! We don’t have any around our house, but there are a lot of them out by Gramma’s house. This little guy was teasing me like crazy!
Our fall weekend walk also brought us to another one of those tree things. This is the most creative one we have seen yet. Please don’t ask why there are reptiles inside the door as we have no idea. The thought is nice, but we would be happier to find something cheery inside, not the ugly creatures.
After about an hour, we were back to our starting point. I stopped to sit on the bench and show off my Mohawk. It wasn’t really windy out, so I am not sure why my head furs are standing on end, but they seem to have a mind of their own. Hope you enjoyed our little walk!
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Love taking walks with you.
I love taking walks, it is fun π
You sure had a fun walk and you saw some interesting things. Love that happy and pretty smile!
It was an ideal fall day for a nice walk with my mom.
you saw a lot of beautiful things… a plush carterpillar, this wood guy (how cute!!!) and even a chipmunk… so it seems you have da pawfect walk :O)
We saw a little bit of everything and had a fun time.
You find the most fun places to walk, plus you notice so much. We find joy every day reading your blog! Happy Fri-Yay! XOXO Sparkle
Awww, thank you. We all love our walks and the ones that we don’t do often or are new are the very best ones.
What an exciting place to walk and sniff, and of course bark!!
I rarely bark unless I’m at home and see something I feel needs a good bark.
Those sure are fun things! I like the chipmunk and the bee the best – except for your smile!
I do have a fun smile but I love that chipper!
That was such a beautiful and interesting walk. Love the caterpillar especially. And you, of course, were such a Good Dog.
Thanks for taking us along.
Those fuzzy caterpillars are always fun to find.
You found lots of cool stuffs on your walk, Bailie! Those chippers are just as much of a tease as the squirrels are!
They are teasers but since we rarely see them, I find them even better than squirrels.
You made me smile and I thank you. I love the little door in the tree and what was behind it.
Happy Fall Friday
Cecilia
We don’t know who does those, but we like finding them.
I love going on adventures with you. Always fun. Your mom sure takes great care of all of you.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your wonderful mom. β₯
We all take care of each other and it works well for us.
What a terrific walk! Thanks for taking us with you. We loved seeing all the things you found! Especially the Fairy door, we bet a kid left the the lizard behind it as a gift for the fairies!
We don’t know, but we wish there was something cute in there instead.
What cool things you found on your walk! We have been seeing a BUNCH of those woolly caterpillars around lately, we mostly just leave them alone.
xoxo,
Rosy and the Gang
