We received an early Christmas gift of a snowstorm this year. We haven’t had this much snow in a few years, so we are going to be sure to enjoy it. Unfortunately, this storm also brings bitter cold – double digits below zero Fahrenheit, plus the windchill. Our furs are good, so we can still be out and play for short stints. It is truly a winter wonderland outside right now.
All of us take turns playing out in the fluff. It is Nelson’s first real winter experience with snow and cold. He is totally in love with this weather and races around like a crazy boy!
Olivia is also pretty nuts about all the snow and the invigorating cold air to go along with it. It seems that the younger two siblings have the most fun in the cold and snow.
Poor Madison is short, so she gets cold quicker and we have to be sure she doesn’t disappear in the snow! We always blaze a trail from the stairs to the back of the yard when it snows. Madison tends to stay on the trail when there is a lot of snow. Smart girl she is!
Even though I am the oldest, I love snow and I can run through it with anyone who challenges me. It is an early Christmas gift for all of us at this house.
Olivia has been digging around in the snow and is totally snow covered but it doesn’t seem to bother her at all.
Nelson runs around checking on all of us and then he powers up to head off to his next point of interest. He is one funny guy!
Miss Madison can power up and create her own little snowstorm when she wants to. It looks like she is focusing hard on getting going.
The wind is blowing the leaves across the top of the snow. Olivia being a sports dog is using it as FastCAT practice. She is stretched out long, determined to catch a blowing leaf.
Here comes Nelson! He says he is all ears! You all know we love the flying ear photos we all seem to get with our floppys.
Olivia always has the best totally crazy eyes and it is no exception in the cold and snow! She specializes in funny expressions.
Look out, here I come for one more pass by! I’m flying, I’m flying!
We’ll leave you with a flying Nelson. It is his first real taste of a snowstorm and bitter cold. He loves it, so he is a true Minnesota hound! We look forward to a few days down the road when the temps are a bit warmer so we can be outside more and enjoy our early Christmas gift. Now on to things like gift wrapping and preparing food for Christmas Eve I guess.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
What a wonderful early Christmas gift! Have fun and stay warm!
Today won’t be so fun as we have -40 windchills but yesterday was a fun day in the snow and cold.
You really do look happy!
Oh yes, we adore the snow and cold air. It brings out the wild in us all!
Wow, you all look super excited with all that snow! Brrrrr.
We are a winter loving family here, there is no doubt. A -20 windchill won’t stop us.
Spectacular snow dogs! Their joy jumps off the screen. We have read of your “wild weather”, know you will stay safe and warm of course … but it is so beautiful to see, Happy Christmas weekend to one and all. Hugs of love from JUNE and Ann.
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you and sweet June. Today is -40 windchill, but we still love to go out for short spurts. The cold and wind makes us all super wild.
Wow! They all look like they are having so much fun.
We do all love the snow. Mom loves winter too, and she loves to hang out with us and capture our happiness with her camera.
Wild pants all around!
Tons of wild pants. We bring them in to warm up and then take them out again.
WOW – you are having such fun in the snow. I had a 12 pound mini poodle who loved the snow – she was so funny. Have a great weekend AND go Vikes!!!
I forgot – I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family, human and furry! We are hoping for a purple win tomorrow, but we simply lack the trust we should have. They play at home, so we will howl loudly from our house.
Oh boy ~ what fun in the snow for you sweet doggies ~ great photos! Xo
Wishing you Happy Holidays, good health and laughter,

Yesterday was a ton of Grand fun!
Goodness, that’s a lot of snow. I know how you all love the snow though. Adorable shots.

We do love the snow and a nice load is absolutely perfect for us all! Merry Christmas to you, your hubby, and the family. Have a Grand holiday weekend!
Oh wow! Gail and I thought we had a lot of snow in Scotland last week, but now we realise it was just a sprinkling compared to what you guys are seeing at the moment. Those photos of you pups all racing around in the drifts are just awesome. And thank goodness you have nice thick winter coats. (We hope your humans do too – we suspect they are well equipped, being Minnesotans.)
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
We are used to bitter cold and snow here, so no worries about staying warm. The snow was most fun. We haven’t had this much so early in the year in a very long time. You enjoy your snow, even if it is not as much. Snow is fun.
We got the same storm as you (yesterday) but not nearly the same amount of snow. Just super strong winds and bitter, bitter temps like you! Wayyyy too cold out there! Enjoy!
Today we are staying in mostly as it is about -40 with the nasty winds. Wind ruins everything it seems, but yesterday was a blast. We all have no trouble with subzero temps if it isn’t ridiculously windy. Stay warm!
What a purrfect gift for you snow pups and boy you sure were enjoying it. We had 2 big dogs when we lived in WV and they loved to run and romp in the snow too. When we moved to SC a year later it snowed. They were Southern Belles by then and wanted nothing to do with the cold snow, it was pretty funny.
Oh dear, bummer for them. We can’t imagine a winter without snow around here. It is so much fun.
What fun! I do hope you have plenty of snow to enjoy through the whole winter.
We hope so too. It is going to get warm next week so hopefully it won’t melt.
Look at you guys in the snow! Your Peep got some totally incredible photos of happy dogs playing! We love your exuberance! We LOVE them! We are sending best wishes on Christmas to our long distance friends. May you all and your Peep have an amazing Christmas. Keep being fabulishious! Marv, Jo Jo, Kozmo, Cinnamon and Barb
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you and your family! We love you guys and even if you don’t always post, we enjoy it when you do!
Have fun in da snow. All we got is cold!
We have plenty of cold and snow here and we are loving it! Merry Christmas to you all!
So beautiful! Looks like a pawfectly pawsome Christmas for you guys.
It is gorgeous out there and now it is getting warmer so we can be out longer.
