Last weekend Mom and I checked out Grays Bay off Lake Minnetonka. There is now a parking lot right before the bridge and a walkway along the water. Mom has wanted to check it out and it was the day to do it. The parking lot is where the school bus used to turn around every morning on the way to school. Mom says it was difficult as the space isn’t that big and there were lots of ruts in the ground. That is the bay behind me and the clouds are looking pretty for the photo for us.
Just off the parking lot we saw the downed trees and a nice, big, beaver dam. No beavers were seen but we think they live in that nice dam that they built.
First we walked over the Grays Bay bridge to the marina. Not a lot happening there this time of year which made us both happy. Even though we didn’t bring a boat, I sat on the boat launch for a photo looking at the Grays Bay bridge. Mom says they have done a lot of work on it to make is so very nice now.
On the way back to the car, we took the path back over the bridge and then down under it. Mom didn’t want to do it before but since we could see what would be down there from the boat launch, she decided we could check it out. That red boat is heading into the launch where I had been standing, and behind me is more of Grays Bay. Note it is windy, thus my furs are looking kind of funny.
Here we are on the other side of the bridge looking out over Lake Minnetonka and on the right side of the photo behind that shrub is Wayzata. We only spent about half an hour wandering around but Mom liked it because she was never able to walk in these places before as there were no walkways. The first bridge and causeway connecting Grays Bay to Wayzata was built in 1878. There were several bridges with the current one being built in 2000.

It was probably the last warm weekend until March or April. Now we are well below freezing and expected to stay cold mainly until spring. We are ready for cold, snow, and ice.

It was last weekend. Today the weather is totally different, teens and lots of ice, some snow, more on the way tomorrow.
It’s a beautiful place to walk by the water now, I hope you get to go often.
We won’t go again until spring probably but it is nice to have another place to walk when we are out where Gramma lives.

What a fun new outing. Enjoy the snow. We’ve received about 27 flakes despite the forecast sounding like end times. The weather man is way too hyperbolic.
We got a few more inches today so things are all spiffed up now.
