This week I’m thankful for This n’ That Thursday Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and their co-host Ruckus the Eskie. Stop by and see what other bloggers are doing today! I have a few pieces of loose fur that need attention making this n’ that a perfect blog hop for me today!
First of all I would like to thank my kitty friends at Texas, a cat in Austin for presenting me with the Best Moment Award. It is always special for a dog to receive praise from cats, not claws in the nose and hissing! If you aren’t familiar with their blog, stop by and take a read! Now I have to tell you about my sister Bailie and how I need to keep a paw on her or she may take over my life, yikes! Guess who tied for second place as Mover of the Month in December? Yep, Bailie of all dogs! Kayo was first, but he is always first so PetsMove decided to award the three prizes to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners. Bailie had 185 paws and beat me by just one paw…that little stinker! Now the pressure is on for me to win the January Mover of the Month award since even Katie won the senior competition in November. I’m starting to feel like a lazy bum dog, but I’m really so active, just down on my
luck paws. On the bright side, she won a super cool K9 FitBone which we can all share to work on our fitness. Stay tuned down the road for a post about how it works out for us. I guess if prizes stay in the family it isn’t so bad!
Speaking of moving, my sisters and I participated in the first ever Move Your Mutt-A-Thon last Saturday. All we had to do was 30 minutes or more of an activity in the morning and then post a video or photo of it. Luckily, we had a warm spell, so we all could take a long walk. I filmed part of it myself with my Sony action cam (the best part is when I see the squirrel), and Mom filmed the rest. It isn’t the most fun filled video ever, but with only Mom to hold the camera and three dogs on flexi leashes in the other hand, it came out pretty darn good. We had to all be on the flexi’s so we would be far enough out front to film. Mom did edit out some of the parts with questionable language when some of us took off in the snow or tangled up around the others.
The last item I have today is a short review of Jackie Bouchard‘s book What the Dog Ate. We follow her blog which you should check out if you aren’t already reading it, and this book sparked our interest. Jackie is a dog lover, author, and blogger. Mom and I started reading the book on our Florida vacation in November but didn’t get it finished until Jan. 1. Mom isn’t a big reader and we had so much going on it took forever. First, I have to say that Mom loved the book but it really isn’t a book for dogs to read. I found it interesting but I wouldn’t recommend buying it for a dog. Mom said it was a bit creepy for her as there were a lot of similarities to things that have happened or are happening in her own life, but that made it all the more interesting. It got Mom thinking s but it was also quite amusing. I would give the book a four paws up for adult human females. It is not Jackie’s most recent book, but with my mom any book is a major accomplishment! You can get it on Amazon here.
That is a wrap for today!
We will check her blog out. Have a howling Thursday Emma xxxooxxx
Mollie and Alfie
lots of cool things going on for you! Well done, YOU!
I try to stay busy even when it is seriously cold outside.
Congratulations on your award and we think the book was great. Jackie has a new one out which we are reviewing next week. She is a pawsome writer. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
I was just happy Mom finally read the first one. Books are just not our thing which is weird because Mom and I love to write. We enjoy short stories, articles, that kind of thing or really interesting or fun stories. If Mom reads 2-3 books a year it is a big year!
Hey Emma, I think you will be Mover of the Month soon (send me some bacon and I can rig it for you ~ Jack)
Oh man! Mom had bacon in the fridge on the bottom shelf until about two days ago. I could have nabbed it easily! It is warming up, so we are moving once again…or I should say moving more π Severe cold is like severe heat, just can’t do much.
Emma- how can Katie and I vote for you?
It isn’t a vote thing. I have to work out and record my workouts in my petsmove.org diary online. Different activities and times add up to paws and the dog with the most paws at the end of the month is the mover of the month. Last month I skipped a few midday walks, so Bailie got out ahead of me…little stinker!
Congratulations on your award, this book sure is amazing
The book is a good one!
Thanks so much for participating in TNT! Loved the video. The snow sure was crunchy. We didn’t get to participate because we had to run errands like fools on Saturday since we knew bad weather was coming. Love the part of the video that Emma shot. That is very cool and nice job jumbling leashes and a camera. You are all very talented! Congrats on the wins at your house.
We are working on more and better ways to use my Sony Action Cam. Bailie is going to try tracking in the spring, so that may be a good use for it. I don’t think I can wear it at nose work class, but we will see.
Well good job Bailie. And Emma, you had better step it up some. BOL. My mom really like the book, and is a big fan of Jackie and her writing.
My mom loved the book too, just took her forever to read it! I kept forgetting what was going on as we went so long in between reads! I can’t skip any walks anymore if I want to be mover of the month. Bailie is going to be hard to beat.
I can barely use the camera when I only have Eko, so bravo for managing it with three pups. That is seriously impressive. Little siblings are always showing off, but I think you’ll shine this month.
It is going to be tough to beat Bailie because she is so active and does so much training!
Oh a big congrats to you for your award!! What an honor!!!!!
Happy TNT !!

Thanks, furends π
A cat gave you an award?! Say it ain’t so! Oh Emma …
I love Jackie’s books. This is her best, I think, but the other is very good. π
I know, how embarrassing that cats like me, but that is okay. I like my cats at home.
Hi Emma, thanks for linking up to blog hop This ‘N That Thursday! What the dog ate photo frame made me laugh! Thanks for sharing this post. It’s worth howling about!
It was actually my kindle on the ipad app, but it does look like a photo frame.
Well now, Emma…Congratulations on your blog award! That is pawtastic! Congratulations to Bailie for her Mover of the Month award. What an eventful Thursday!

Congratulations on all the accolades you are receiving at your house! Way to be paw-some! Tell your mom that she should have gotten Barking from the Bayou in her email today. I’m not sure exactly what I did (If you push enough buttons, as they say) but they were finally mailed out. : )
Thank you! Actually, we did get your post email, but I think Mom got busy with her real job and forgot to go back to your blog and comment. You really have to keep track of blogs you follow or they will disappear by accident and you won’t even know. It usually takes us a couple days to figure out we are missing someone. Glad it is fixed π
Congrats on the nice award! Y’all sure have been busy!
I know, I think I need a nap!
Congrats on your great award and congrats to Bailey to be mover of the month. Sweet!
Believe me, she is a mover in many ways!
Congrats on the fab award!!
Thanks!
Well, first of all, thanks so much Emma to you and your mom! I’m so glad she enjoyed the book – especially if she doesn’t normally read much, I’m honored she read my book! π And I LOVE that picture of you reading it! Too cute!
Now, as for Bailie beating you by one paw, it’s hard to keep up with all that puppy energy, but I’m sure you’ll get her one of these days! (Or you could try sending Jack the bacon payoff!)
Sending Jack the bacon may be the best move. Bailie gets extra walks just with Mom to practice her obedience lessons and we don’t have time to be walking all of us one on one with Mom. I did make up some time when it was so cold because I could be outside longer. Mom did really love your book. She only decided to read a book if she thinks it will be her kind of book and if she starts and gets bored, that is it, so it is a compliment that she read the entire book and liked it.
I am fan of “What the Dog Ate” and have Jackie’s latest book here (that I have not sat down to read yet, but plan to) – great post and thanks for the info and heads up!
What the Dog Ate was great for mom, she wishes she liked reading more, but that was a book she enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by π
Oh boy, Emma, you can’t let your sisters keep showing you up! At least you get the benefits of the prizes though. I know you can do it this month!
I don’t read as much as I used to either, and it takes me longer to finish a book, but I have enjoyed Jackie’s too. It sounds like it was a good choice for your Mom.
It will be tough to catch Bailie because she is in obedience class and has to work on walking skills alone with Mom. I will keep trying though!
I love the look of your trail. Many of ours are closed for the winter because people end to slide off them and die. π I suspect the squirrels lure them over the edge of the gorges.
Oh dear, those squirrels are so rotten! I could see that happening to me in my excitement! Scary thought!
My goodness Emma, it looks like Bailie has thrown down the gauntlet for a challenge! I bet you are up to the task though. I bet we’ll be hearing about how you trounced her in January. Thanks for the book review… I am an adult female reader so I might be very interested. Meghan
I’m having a tough time competing with Bailie since she gets extra walk time alone with Mom to work on her obedience training. We will see what happens!
Congratulations on the award! Mom has been wanting to read that book but hasn’t had much time to do any reading lately!
Sounds like your mom has been doing more writing which is usually what happens to my mom too.
You guys were really moving out on the Move Your Mutt A Thon! I like your camera a lot. I sure hope you can take the title so Bailie and Katie can’t hold it over your head!
Bunny
It is going to be pretty tough. I got some extra time in when it was too cold for Bailie to be out, but with her obedience school homework she is starting to gain on me again!
Congrats on the award and hooray for prizes that can be shared! Your walk looks like it was fun, the squirrel part was priceless. π You’re great with a camera, Emma! π
Sometimes having sisters is a real pain having to share everything, but on the other hand getting to share their stuff isn’t a bad deal. I love to race after squirrels, that is for sure!
Okay Emma, I think Mom’s gonna get serious about this RESOLVE thing! Congrat’s on your awards, and our mom’s not a big reader eitherβ¦. Harley & Leo
No sitting around reading leaves more time to Move Your Mutt! π That is Mom’s problem, she can’t sit still. She loves the computer and that is about the only thing that can keep her sitting for any reasonable amount of time.
Congrats on all your awards! We like that book of Jackie’s, too π
Thank you!
