Last Saturday, Bailie went to the Bryant Lake Dog Park in Eden Prairie. The Bryant Lake Dog Park is one of the Three Rivers Park District off leash parks. Until two years ago, we had yearly passes to their parks, but as Katie and I got older we didn’t visit dog parks much, so Mom quit renewing our pass. We now go several times a year and do pay as we go.
Bailie was at this park when she was real young once. It was really a mess at this park, and the last time we were there, Mom saw a snake, so she hasn’t been back in over two years! Bailie started out her adventure with a quick check of the peemail in the park. So much to take in!
Next Bailie was off. The last time Bailie and I went to an off leash park, Bailie refused to come when called, so mom was nervous as Bailie headed off down the trail.
Practicing recall was one goal of the one on one park visit for Mom and Bailie. After the first time not coming when called, Mom hid. Bailie panicked because she didn’t see Mom, and I wasn’t there for support. From that point on, she did pretty well listening.
The park has really been spiffed up since Mom was there last. Some trees had been cut down and a few pieces were left around the park for dogs to play on. Bailie sat on the first one she found.
Who knows what was going on in the wooded section of the park. Bailie was quite interested in what ever it was and refused to look at the camera.
Bryant Lake Dog Park has a couple good sized hills. Bailie raced up one of the hills and Mom took her photo from below for a fun effect.
The next log they came across, Bailie raced over on her own and posed with her paws on it. This piece was rather unstable, so Mom didn’t want her to try to climb up on it all the way.
It was 81 degrees on Saturday, so after a half hour of racing around the park, Bailie’s tongue was hanging out and looking for water. Mom loves what they have done with the park and said we might go again, but she is still scared there may be snakes around if we go in the summer. She was also happy there were a lot of dogs, but they were in a couple play areas so they didn’t bother her and Bailie doing their walking. It was a fun little trip for both of them.
it’s a good place for dogs and I love that they cut some trees, it looks more organized now :o) have you entered the park with a ticket or with a noseprint on the stone at the entrance Bailie?
Bailie left a few good peemails scattered around the park for those coming after her.
What a fun day for Bailie. She is so creative with those stumps. We have a dog park in my town, but word has it it is full of fleas and people do not control their dogs very well. XOXO Sparkle
When we first moved back the the USA, we didn’t have a fenced yard, so we went to the dog parks almost daily, but then we got our house with a fenced yard and started going to the parks less and less. Some we don’t like at all. We prefer the larger ones like this one where we can really walk/run on our own without packs of dogs pestering us.
Sounds like s lot of fun!
Bailie said she had a lot of fun and really enjoyed exploring a new place.
Not a fan of snakes either, but it looks like a fun park. I bet there were good smells in the woods.
If Mom sees a snake she normally will never return to that place. She has nightmares and everything if she sees one.
Oh my goodness, it looks like Bailie not only learned a few things, but had a blast at the park!!
Smileys!

She did have a real fun time and she met a couple dogs, but didn’t get any photos.
How fun. I so wish there was a dog park in this area. Torrey loves a good dog park.
We love the big fenced ones where we can walk and do our thing without herds of dogs bugging us.
Love seeing that big smile on a beautiful spring day.
Bailie is one of the happiest dogs on the planet. Always smiling.
We like your lookout stump

She did look good sitting on that one.
Now that’s an off leash park! Our dog park is an embarrassment compared to that. Hiding is one of mom’s favorite tricks to play on me and I do NOT like it at all. I’m much better with recall unless there is food involved. Love Dolly
We have a lot of huge parks that are fenced with woods and trails. They are really nice and you can keep to yourself if you want as they are big enough and there are areas specifically for those that want to stand around and watch their dogs play with others.
That looks like a very nice dog park now, and Bailie really looks like she enjoyed herself! That’s the kind of dog park I would want to go to, but we only have very small ones around here. Maybe with all the clean up they did, the snakes moved out!
There are wooded areas and all kinds of natural areas, so I doubt it. I think Mom will be very cautious to go there during the summer.
That sounds like a great time for Bailie and your mom. I’m sure you and Katie enjoyed some afternoon zzz’s. β₯ Mom says that I will never be allowed off leash and something about not coming when she calls me. I don’t know, I wasn’t listening to her. BOL!
I’m pretty good about it. Even when I don’t come when called, I come close enough to check on Mom every few minutes to make sure she is still there. I learned that at a young age.
you sure looked like you had a wonderful time – that tongue hanging out proves it π
My sister has the world’s longest tongue!
Looks like Bailie had fun!
She did have a lot of fun running around and sniffing all sorts of new stuff.
If this is anything like the other park that we have meet up at, it is another great place!!! Love learning about all these fun new places to run free!!! π
It’s also a Three Rivers fully fenced park. We used to dislike it as it was a muddy mess, but they have really done a lot of work on it and it is quite nice now.
Baillie is one go-getter-girl! Love the stump shots!
There is a reason she is my PR girl! She is always out front and out there!
That looks like a nice spot to romp around and it is always fun to have some 1 on 1 time. Glad to hear you are getting better with your recall – it is so important to always keep an eye on Mom!
We will never be good enough to be off leash in an unfenced area, but we do pretty well most of the time. Critters throw us off all the time.
Glad you didn’t find any snakes on this trip! Looks like a nice, large place to play.
That is always a big problem for my mom. She can’t handle seeing them at all.
We enjoyed seeing your out n’ about pretty Bailie and you were a little stumped there for a minute!
She enjoyed hanging out on those stumps.
Haha – that’s a good trick – hiding when she doesn’t come – I use it too.
I got that trick all the time as a little one and learned a lot from it. Bailie hasn’t gotten it as much, but still works wonderfully.
Glad Bailie got to run around the dog park and catch up on all those smells. We bet there are some great smells in the wooded area. We have snakes in our yard and woods ,john hates snakes, i don’t have a problem. When we see one i have the dogs just walk by, we don’t bother them and they don’t bother us.
If we see one, Mom grabs us and we run in the other direction and won’t go back to where we saw it. She is terrified of them and if we ever touched one, she says we would need to move out. I think she is kidding, but it would be a bad thing I think. Luckily, we rarely see them.
It looks like Bailie had a great time at the dog park! I do the same thing when my dogs don’t recall and now they look for me if I don’t say anything to them after a while.
Sometimes Mom does it that way too. It depends on how long she feels like waiting for us to realize she is missing.
What a great walk! Great pictures!
Thank you. Mom and Bailie had a real nice time.
Open space parks like this can be a terrific outing for busy noses. Glad you were able to have a great time (with no snake sightings!).
Bailie was pretty wiped out from the heat and the exploring.
But a good day in the sun nonetheless. βΊοΈ
Ha! I like that technique – next time Jaxson ignores me I’m gonna hide too. Thanks Emma
I always keep Mom in sight as she did that to me all the time when I was little. Bailie hasn’t had it happen nearly as much.
It looks like a nice place. So do you have to pay to use the dog park? I’ve thought of something like that up here, thinking maybe if people had to pay, they’d be a bit more responsible. π Also, I’d love a fenced in place with trails so I could set Delilah loose.
The Three Rivers parks are I think $35 for a year pass and they have six or eight parks around the Twin Cities, or you can pay $6.50 per visit with the pay envelopes in the parking lot. For us it is worth it.
