The Prince portrait mural in Chanhassen has been all over the news around here. Bailie, aka, Purple Girl, visited Paisley Park back in April to pay tribute to Prince and she wanted to visit the new mural as well. Mom tagged along as the driver and photographer. Someone took a few shots of Mom and Bailie together. This one we thought was kind of artsy.
Mom and Bailie got lucky as all the hype about the Prince portrait mural had died down, and there were only a few people at the site making photos easy. It’s one big mural by Graham Hoete, Mr. G, from Sydney, Australia. He painted another Prince portrait mural in Sydney shortly after Prince died.
To get a feel for the size of the mural, that is Bailie sitting there front and center, not a fly! We couldn’t get all of the sides of the mural in even with the wide angle lens or Bailie was just too small.
Lastly, another better one of Mom and Bailie in front of the mural. The portrait sure is cool looking. It’s amazing Mr. G came all the way to Chanhassen at his own expense just to paint this. He really is a true fan!

that is an amazing portrait – it looks awesome and is a great reminder
It’s pretty awesome to see in person when you really get the size of it.
That mural is AMAZING, it must be ENORMOUS!
It’s the wall of the movie theater, so it is huge!
That is a beautiful tribute
Amazing the guy came all the way from Sydney to do it at his own expense!
it’s amazing… and that portrait was a wonderful tribute for an artist who was outstanding…
It’s big and super cool looking for sure.
So cool! The mural is awesome π
It is wonderful. The guy is a true artist.
That is such a great mural! I think it is so cool you got to visit and get your photo taken with it!
It is super cool! We only live like half an hour away, so we can visit.
Wabbit tracking sounds like woofie heaven!
I know kitties that hunt wabbits too π
Very cool, so lucky that you got to visit and get some great photos. Love Dolly
It is fun to get to see things like that in the furs!
It’s a very cool mural. I’m glad mom managed to get Purple Girl out there and get such great photos!
Can’t see Mom and Bailie too well as they are so small in comparison to the mural.
That is hugely amazing, haha! I wonder how they were able to paint it so well being that large. Very cool!
If you google it, you can see photos of the guy on ladders and stuff painting it. Really a neat tribute.
Amazing!
It is super neat to see in the fur.
What a nice tribute to have in your/his hometown.
Evidently, he actually went to movies there a few times a month. We live about 40 mins away.
I hadn’t heard of this mural. It’s quite beautiful. Bailey looks small next to it. If Misha was sitting there, you probably wouldn’t see all 7 lbs of her. LOL
There is one in Sydney, and this one in Chanhassen that he painted. It’s pretty big. You might not even see Misha over the grass!
That’s such a beautiful piece of art!! Beautiful pictures you got there!
It’s pretty awesome to see and for a tribute.
That is really something, and we can’t believe the size of it! How fun that someone took some photos of Mom and Bailie too, I really like the first artsy one.
I think the lady had no clue how to use the phone camera, but it was a fun accidental shot. The one of Mom and Bailie “for real” came out nice too.
Its Huge and so nicely done. Thanks for sharing.
It is huge. Mr. G does lots of special art things. Really neat.
What a cool mural
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
It sure is, and you certainly can’t miss it!
How amazing that your mom was able to see the Prince mural. I would love to see it some day.
May I suggest a trip to MN for starters, you can visit the Mall of America, head out to Chanhassen and see the mural and Paisley Park, then head back into downtown Minneapolis to First Avenue where he often played. It’s Prince land here!
That is soooooo amazing!
Wow, that is really cool. What a labor of love by the artist! The eyes are the best part. Your mom and Bailie look great in front of it!
Mom and Bailie look like little bugs! Very cool portrait, though.
That is a very cool mural. And I love purple, so I guess I better come see it.
I guess you have something in common with Purple Girl then too π You could visit the one here in Chanhassen, or use it as an excuse to go to Sydney to see the other one he did.
Mowzers, what a COOL portrait!! (we wanna twack sum wabbits!!!)
Kitties can track and capture wabbits. Give it a shot!
These are all amazing pictures! I see future Christmas cards pics in your future!!! π
Thank you. I think they are the wrong color for Christmas for us, although if Bailie wants to send her own???
I cried when he died. I was seriously depressed — his music defined my time as a young adult. I wanted to ask how far Paisley Park was from you guys. I forgot to ask Spencer’s Mom when I saw her in Phoenix. This mural is amazing and worth a trip too clearly… Thanks for sharing these pics. I love them.
Mom was in college when Prince and Michael Jackson both got so big. Mom’s old roommate used to do security work for Prince for a time too. It is a huge part of her life as well, and now those two are gone. Paisley Park and the mural are just minutes from each other in Chanhassen. That is all about 30-40 mins from our house.
That is a stunning mural and huge! Bailie looks like how Mr. N always looks in front of murals lol!
It makes her really look more like a bug than a 40lb dog!
That is so cool, Emma! It was nice of you to let Purple Girl go represent! BOL!
Mom is a Prince fan since he was so big in her younger, wild years and Purple Girl is self explanatory. It’s only natural for those two to go together!
Thanks for sharing that neat mural with the rest of us!
Your welcome. One needs to share the good stuff in life.
Wow! That is gorgeous! I wonder how long it took him to create that!
Not long. I think a week or so. It is really neat.
Quite the art piece of a real legend. You guys really added perspective regarding its size. ?
It sure makes us all feel quite small!
Beautiful piece of art! Love your guys picture with the mural.
It’s a pretty cool mural to see in person or in the fur.
Now that’s a unique backdrop!!
It’s a really cool mural!
