I’m really enjoying my new Solvit™ Wicker Residence! Mom loves the look, and I am loving the comfort and privacy! Even though I was never kennel trained, I hopped right in this crate and went to sleep!

Assembling your Wicker Residence!
The first thing Mom and I noticed when my new Residence arrived is that it needs to be assembled. Thankfully, I’m a pretty handy dog and can follow directions.
Most kennels are simple to assemble – they pop or fold up or down in a jiffy. The Wicker Pet Residence is something you have to screw together, and it is not meant to be taken apart often.
Overall, it went together fairly easily and quickly. The residence is made of six pieces and the under tray. Screwing the pieces together was not a problem when using the handy dandy screw tool that came with the screws.
It took me around twenty minutes to get the entire Wicker Residence put together so I could finally test it out! The Residence is nice and sturdy, and if you are worried about your dog chewing their way out, forget it! Wicker is attached to the outside of a basic metal kennel for decorative purposes. The kennel itself is made of metal bars.
Why I love my Wicker Residence!
Once you have your Residence assembled, slide the plastic bottom tray into place. The tough plastic tray can be removed for easy cleaning and will keep dirt and moisture from landing on your floors. If you have a messy dog, don’t worry about the wicker either. Rhino Wicker™ material won’t absorb fluids or odors and cleans up easily with soap and water!
One of the best things is that most of my favorite dog beds fit perfectly in my residence making it extra cozy for me! Most of the time the door is open, allowing me to spill out in my sleep. There is plenty of ventilation too, so it doesn’t become hot and stuffy when I’m snoozin’!
Most of my favorite beds have a four to six inch mattress, but there is still enough room for me to sit, stand, turn, or do what I need to do even when the door is closed. The spring loaded door latch easily latches shut, swings wide open, or swings inside latching to the inside wall out if you want it out of the way. The Residence also has no-slip raised feet to protect your floors.
What I dislike about the Wicker Residence!
This is probably no surprise, but everyone loves my Residence. My sisters try to take it over, but Mom has told them it is mine. Cat bro Bert is the biggest offender and refuses to vacate when I want to get in! Kitty sis Sophie sometimes tries to use the wicker as a scratching post, but I chase her away. When it comes down to it, the only thing I dislike are my own cats, definitely not my new Residence!
My suggestion: Go online and order a Solvit Wicker Pet Residence for your pet. They will love it, and your human will love the look! Hint…it would make an awesome gift!
Emma, Like your new residence looks really comfy. Good job putting it together! You totally rocked the glasses and hard hat!! Yeah, that whole sharing thing with sister and brother kitties can be hard. We have to do that too. ~Bonnie Pup
Nothing is truly your own if you have fur siblings. At least my sisters know to scram if I come along, but the cats won’t move.
Now that is an upscale doggie condo! I really do like it. XOXO, Sparkle
It’s super nice and it looks good in the office I share with my mom.
That is very nice. No reason a kennel can’t be stylish.
We’ve seen stylish kennels, but never had one until now.
WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT!!!! Except for the part about having to put it together yourself! Cracking up about Bert…..he is hilarious, just like Cody. I was just talking the other day about bringing Dakota’s crate back out to see if he would ever use it. I ADORE this because it is sooooo stylish……..this is seriously one of the nicest pieces of pet furniture that I have ever seen.
It looks awesome in our office with the dark wood. I love it because it is cozy and kind of private…if I can get that cat out of it so I can use it! I was never crate trained, but when Bailie came along, I discovered crates on my own and like them.
that’s a stylish place… that’s really home, sweet home ! … and your diy-projects run much much better than ours… maybe you can grab your helmet and the tool box to help us before the two diy-cowboys ruin my crib?
Maybe I should hang a home sweet home sign on my wicker residence?
look a bit better than the normal old cage
It is really nice looking. We don’t mind having it out at all.
Like the digs! Looks much nicer than the standard wire, and also provides some nice shade.
It gives me that true “den” feeling that I like. These days we are back in the kennel business, so it is perfect for us.
That’s really nice. Solicit has some good stuff
Lily & Edward
We’ve got many of their products and have liked them all!
OMD…Arty loves sleeping in his den…but it is just covered in blankies to keep it private. Now I know just what to get him for Christmas!! Thanks for the great review Emma!!
Smileys!
Dory
No need for blankies with the wicker on the outside. I love it in my “den”.
Wow! This is beautiful! We need one to replace Pierre’s regular hard plastic kennel. That is really, really nice.
Bailie has her hard plastic kennel from when she was tiny. It is far too small for her, but it is the only kennel she likes to go in. She folds herself up and snoozes in it sometimes. Very funny! I recommend these wicker ones…also good if anyone you know is downsizing as they don’t need to be hidden.
I can see why you like it and it sure looks comfy! I think Bert eants one of his own!
He just seems to take pleasure in taking over my stuff…darn cat!
That looks really cozy! I’m pretty sure Barley’s kitty brother would also try to use it as a scratching post.
We have so many scratching posts around the house for the kitties, and the walls of my wicker residence are pretty protected, but now and then Sophie feels the need to scratch. Grrr…
Very pretty! What a great idea. Plus No Kitties Allowed!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
I think I need a no cats allowed sign!
That is a very nice looking crate, and you’ve really made it cozy inside too. Unfortunately with the metal inside though it wouldn’t work for Luke. He knows how you feel though – Cricket has really been hogging his crate all the time too!
Everyone seems to have their own preference which is fine. I love the dark, cave like coziness.
Snazzy new digs, Emma. Maybe you need to add additional crates to the collection–two for your sisters and a couple for the kitty siblings. You could create a Solvit wicker condo complex. 😉
LOL! Now if only they were stackables…could put the cats up top…but knowing cats, they would still want the crates that are not for them.
That is very cool! Looks so nice in a living room.
Despite being pretty big, it looks great in our office.
That looks really nice – especially in a part of the house that is public. I would love to get Jaxson one, but I doubt seriously if he would use it. Enjoy it Emma – but try to share a little bit with your sisters 🙂
Amazingly, none of us were really crate trained, but when they are set up in various places around the house and the doors are open, we often enjoy hanging out in them. My mom would never have imagined that would be the case.
It looks terrific and cozy. I wish my NYC apartment were large enough to house it.
They come in many sizes. You may not need such a large one for your pup.
I absolutely LOVE it!!! I might think about this for the girls for Christmas!! They would definitely like it…and I think it is quite stylish as well! Thank you for the great review. I love your hard hat and safety glasses…great job on assembly!
I always enjoy helping out my mom with different tasks. These awesome residences come in different sizes too. I think your pups would love a residence!
I have to admit that’s one of the nicest crates I’ve every seen, it’s so nice looking you would want it right in your living room. Cats, though! Love Dolly
You can really put it anywhere because it is so nice looking. I have mine in our office.
What a spiffy new home. Too bad there looks to be so much sharing happening. 😉
Nothing is truly your own with a house full of siblings.
Very nice. Brown dawgs would definitely chew through the bars to the wicker…lol.
Some dogs would I’m sure, but we aren’t normally that type of dog.
Is Solvit Wicker Pet Residence inspired from a small villa or cottage nearby the beach? Look friendly, natural and really nice. Not a feeling of a cage. Thanks for your suggestion.
I really don’t know, but I love to be in it. Mom finds me napping in it all the time and it looks nice besides.
