I got a nice fall walk in the woods with my mom the other day after my sisters got home from their AKC Scent Work Trial. It was cold, and rainy, but we still had a nice time. At the end of our walk we suddenly came upon some pretty flowers too, which is weird this time of year.
Water levels are up as we have had so much cool, wet weather. The leaves are starting to turn, but the wind and rain knock them to the ground as soon as they start to look nice.
One thing is for sure, everything is super green, and growing outside. The damp air and rain make my furs really puff up too.
The bad news is that the ticks are still out and about, but I’m wearing my protection. Don’t need any ticks hitching a free ride on me! The burrs are also out, and they can be so painful. Madison and I both get burrs stuck in our furs a lot. Mom does her best to avoid them, but they still end up in our furs, and it hurts combing them out.
Those pesty tree rats are all over the place gathering food for the winter. I would think their pantries would be full by now, but they just keep racing around with stuff to eat in their mouths. They always get me distracted.
Red leaves of any kind are our favorite ones. On a day with rain and light mist, the water droplets make them look even better.
I was wet from the rain, and really wanted to jump into the lake, but my mean mother said no way. She said something about it was too cold, and there was green stuff on the water surface. That stuff doesn’t bother me, but she wouldn’t let me take a dip. I decided to pose for more photos instead.
We found some trees with pretty orange leaves too. They are almost as nice as red leaves.
As we were walking along, getting close to our car, the flowers started to appear. This time of year, we never expected to see any flowers! Some of them look like they are about done for the year but overall, they look pretty nice.
There were a lot of these purple ones around. Mom and I are not gardeners, and never pay attention to the names of plants. We have no idea what these are called. Their name doesn’t matter to us anyway, as we just enjoy looking at them.
I think I saved the best flowers for last on our fall walk in the woods. They are my favorite ones because they are so bright and happy looking.
That was is for our fall walk last Sunday. We hopped into our car, and tried to dry off on the drive home. No one probably wants to hear this, but we wish all this rain was snow. Snow is so much fun, and we all love it. Rain is a real downer, and just makes a mess. Paws crossed for a long, cold, and snowy winter in my neck of the woods.
Happy Flower Friday! If you have some flowers, or a flower like topic, join my friends at LLB in the Backyard for the Flower Friday Blog Hop.
You sure found some pretty flowers and beautiful colors on your fun walk!
It was fun since Mom had been gone a lot to the scent work trial.
the leaves and da whole nature wore their best dresses to become a super background for you!!! pawsome! it is like a miracle that the evil ticks even survive in the worst weather… not fair, we say…
They are so small and so dangerous! I’m definitely a fall when it comes to colors I look best with.
Well Emma we donβt wish for snow!! But you have inspired me to take Lilly for a walk in our favorite park tomorrow morning. Maybe we will see flowers too? Have a great day.
We always wish for snow because we love it so. Hope you get out and have a fun walk with Lilly.
Lovely walk. Snow, no thank you but I love that Fall arrived in New York today!
We know most don’t want snow, but we will take it anytime. Glad your fall arrived.
Soggy, yet nice walk. Fall is hanging on everywhere.
We had almost five inches of rain in the past five days…much more than enough for our liking.
Emma I’m proud of you and Mom for making the best of the rainy weather to collect such pretty pictures for us. Dang ticks…need to all go away.
Hugs Cecilia
We can put humans into space, but can’t wipe out those nasty little ticks. They are awful.
We sure envy you and your walks! You always find such neat things!
We love walking and exploring.
Well, you do have a point, Emma. Rain is pretty useless and snow can be fun. We just wish maybe snow could be warmer (not warm, but just not quite so cold)? π
We are excited because we got snow all morning today!
What a beautiful assortment of flowers today Emma, and I really enjoyed seeing your beautiful autumn leaves. You make a rainy day walk look like fun!

Motor on my friends! Enjoy your trip.
What a pretty walk.
Hi Emma! I agree about the snow! Unfortunately, the little bit we do get down here usually melts away within a day or two.
As for the tree rats, I’m assuming you mean squirrels; but did you know there really is such a creature as a tree rat? They live in the palmetto trees down by the canals in the Florida Keys. And they are downright uuuggglllyyy! They make quite a mess, too, at times. They make squirrels look as cute and angelic as a puppy! Luckily, my brother’s dog, Boozy, has never gotten close to one.
Oh my, didn’t know there were real tree rats. Squirrels are bad enough for me!
You look beautiful among nature. My hair floofs in the humidity too! BOL!
Humidity is not a good thing for hair/furs.
I love red leaves too! And those flowers sure were surprising… and so pretty! I’m glad that you two had a wonderful Sunday walk.
It was fun even though it was a bit damp.
I love that Fall arrived in New York today!
