Feeding a puppy Canine Health from Dr. Harvey’s has been a great decision. Olivia is Mom’s fifth puppy. Each puppy has had a different food as a puppy, but Canine Health is by far the best so far. Read on to find out why!
This is not a sponsored post, and we are not canine nutrition experts or veterinarians. My GBGV Life is sharing our own experience to help other puppy parents figure out what to feed their puppies.
Mom has always fed her puppies and dogs good quality dog food, but until this year it was still kibble. Some of the most expensive, and thought to be best kibble, is really not all that good for dogs. Mom switched me and Bailie to Dr Harvey’s Canine Health in February, and we have been super happy. The adjustment of putting together meals for us was a bit of an adjustment, but Mom has the process streamlined now. Even though we are all different ages, we all eat the same basic food which is super nice.
Canine Health is not grain free as we don’t need to eat grain free, but Dr. Harvey’s has other options that are grain free. All Mom has to do to make our meals is measure out the dehydrated ingredients. Re-hydrate with hot water, add oil, and protein, and watch us snarf it all down. For puppies, the portion sizes are different, and for the first eighteen months of life, they get plain yogurt and cottage cheese added to their meals.
Mom buys the meat in bulk, cooks it, measures it out, and freezes it in portions for us all. Every three days, she makes up the meals we will need for the next three days. Olivia loves it so much, she can’t contain her counter surfing habit! We switch proteins for variety every six to seven days which means our meals are never boring. If you have a dog who can only eat certain proteins, you can prepare the food with just those proteins. There are no preservatives, chemicals, or dyes, it is all real food for your dog, and it even smells great!
This week we have ground beef on the menu. We can see the peas, beans, carrots, and all the other fruits and veggies in our meals. Mom mixes it all up real nice and it tastes great. A raw diet may be the best diet, but Mom is not ready to try that. She is afraid she won’t get us the nutrients we need and it is quite expensive. Canine Health takes the guessing out of food prep. Mom knows how much of everything to add and we have a good meal. It is more expensive than kibble, but the benefits are worth the extra costs. We like it better than other foods we have tried that come frozen as meals, and Mom can control exactly what is in our bowls.
Olivia is so wild about her puppy meals, she practically does back flips! Until now puppies have had to do their business numerous times a day, but with Canine Health, most days, Olivia does her thing twice, sometimes three times. Her body is really using the food, and not just running it through her system. Less output is a good thing for many reasons.
When Olivia is finished, she is definitely a member of the Shiny Clean Dog Bowl Club. Our friends Pierre and Bentley have been eating Dr. Harvey’s food for years now. They even have a coupon on their side bar for 10% off your order! Do your puppy, and your other dogs a favor, and treat them to Dr Harvey’s Canine Health, or one of the other foods that meet your dog’s needs best. The website is very informative, and if you call them, they are super helpful too! They also offer a free sample of their food on their website.
