We’re happy about fence repair today. Our fence is very important as it keeps us from running away from home by accident. Humans should check their fencing regularly to look for trouble spots. We’ve had a troublesome section for about a year now, and yesterday it was fixed.
In the back of the yard by the pine trees, the fence no longer reached the ground and critters were tunneling under making the fence to ground gap bigger all the time. Mom had let grass and weeds grow tall there to keep the problem at bay but the neighbors didn’t like that and they sprayed stuff that killed all the green stuff last summer. We tried to add dirt and grow some grass, but it is a shady spot so nothing grows and the critters dug up all the fresh dirt every time we put some down.
Our handy person had a great solution and fixed the fence problem yesterday. The fence now goes below the ground and should be good to keep out critters and keep them from digging. Don’t worry, there are still plenty of places for rabbits to get in around the gates!
I kept my eye on the work to make sure it was done correctly. Of course, I kept my distance so the guy didn’t know I was watching his every move.
Olivia was being herself, running around like a silly girl with no real plan of action. She doesn’t seem to care one way or the other about the fence line.
Bailie is super happy the fence repair is done. She says it is one less thing for Mom to be worrying about. Hope your fences are in good shape. It would be terrible if a pup got loose because a fence had an issue!
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
Yes, secure fencing is essential to keep the critters inside safe and to keep the critters outside from digging under. Unfortunately, it doesn’t keep squirrels, cats, and others from climbing over!
We are glad the squirrels and rabbits can still get in because we love to hunt them.
I had to build my fence a foot below ground so Katie could not dig her way out.
We don’t normally do any digging but just in case, Mom wanted the fence tight to the ground.
That’s a really good thing to keep you girls safe!
It is very important!
I’m with your mom, having the fence repaired is a very good thing. Ease of mind times three. I’m happy the mom makes sure you’re all safe in your yard.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and a big healing hug to your mom. β₯
It is nice to finally have it fixed. Hopefully it will stay that way.
A very important home improvement! Well done! Enjoy it!!
It has slowly been getting worse but we couldn’t figure out how to fix it. Solution, hire someone with fence experience!
Yay! I am happy your fence is fixed. I had a board down several years ago. I came home but my Boston sister, Lyla (now at the Bridge) did not! It was real scary, but she was found the next day. She even slept with strangers IN THEIR BED, with their dog! Fences need to be checked. XOXO, Sparkle
Fences are really important. We are glad ours is back in business! Glad your sister made it back home.
We have boulders and cement blocks in areas where Ducky may otherwise be able to get out; but we’re always outside with her anyway. But you are 100% right – fencing needs to be kept in check as much as possible.
It’s best to keep it safe, just in case!
Good fences are so important, i’m glad this got attended.
It’s hard to know what to do and then to find someone to do it but it is all better now.
Something about “good fences and good neighbors” but we can’t remember it … but we can safely say the “strong fences make for
safe pups” that’s for sure!
There are some things about neighbors and fences but we only care that our fence keeps us in and safe.
What a clever way to fix your fence that was off the ground too much. We are so happy that you girls are totally safe once again!
We would have had to dig to get under it, but still it made mom nervous.
Our fence has chicken wire attached under it at a right angle, then concrete pavers on top of that but still under the fence, so we cannot dig out. Then for extra measure, dad added either big rocks, bricks, or more pavers on top of the pavers. He also padlocked the gates. I think we are safe! No bunnies in the yard, but teh chipmunks have moved in big time!
We never dig, but the gap was getting bigger and bigger with the rabbits digging so we had to get it fixed.
Good job snoopervising Madison, and thank goodness the bunnies can still get in for you to chase!!

Exactly. There are lots of spots for them to sneak in but no dog would fit there.
I am always checking our fence, and it drives my husband crazy when I nitpick every little gap! Fences can shift over time too and that’s something we always have to keep an eye on, watching for gaps where the post might start leaning over. Luckily we don’t have to share ours with any neighbors!
The fence is 100% our fence. Only on the one side the neighbors attached there fence to ours but it isn’t a problem. The people without a fence are the ones that sprayed our nice grass barrier. Oh well, all better now.
Yippee for the improvement!
It is important and we are glad it is fixed.
I’m glad that your mom noticed before it got worse! Have fun in the yard, girls!
It’s been a concern for about a year, but lately has been getting worse, so we are glad it is fixed.
We used to have fencing all around the yard but it was in terrible shape after 50 years. Mom and Alex took it out last summer and were going to replace it, but the yard looks so much better without it, I don’t think it will be put back. We are lucky that Cinnamon is an older dog and she does not leave her yard. It is funny to watch her when the deer come up to the fence line, or in the yard, she chases them to where the fence used to be and then she stops – just like the fence is still there!
LOL! Cinnamon, that is too funny. Mom would never feel safe letting us out without a fence because we have such a high prey drive. Yards without fences are nice, but for our safety, we will always have one.
